I have been playing a career. Lately, The 3d games have been crashing right before the finish. This does not happen in detailed sim, quick sim, or if you sim the day. It's really annoying and a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lower your graphic settings. 3D crashes are mostly related to that.

I've already tryed to no avail.
I've never had a problem before and have a top-notch graphic card and computer.

Maybe is your 'top-notch'' graphic cart damaged? |

I really wonder why all the people think that they have the best computer possible and further more think that it would matter. Read the official statement about the crashes: https://www.cyanid...amp;t=8353 |

Lachi we all know that you are a brilliant genius at everything you know. You don't have to boast your knowledge over every tech form.
BTW- I'm not even forcing the graphic options. When I put them to high graphics settings, even without forcing them, they don't pop up with a message resetting them to what is right for my computer, like they do on my laptop, because the are right for my computer. The game still crashes.

But Lachi is right. If you don't want to hear the answer, why open a thread?
You can have the best computer in the world, and the game will still crash if the game reaches 1.8 GB of RAM use. |

I know Cruetrue but I was talking about statements like:

The way he puts it is what bothers me.

I fixed it, at least I think.
I had to turn off one texture per rider, even though it says it is alright for my system.

My apologies for bumping this old thread, but since I've been experiencing the same problem every now and then I have a question:
If I understand correctly, the crashing is caused by running the game on high graphics settings, along with PCM only being able to use 1.8GB of RAM, regardless of how much you have. Is this correct?
If so, I can imagine the problem (in my case) being mostly due to the RAM limit. I have a brand new high end PC (I can run Battlefield 3 on Ultra on 1080p with 60FPS), so in the graphics sense my pc should be able to handle it. I also have 8 GB of RAM, and it seems somewhat silly to me that the game only limits itself to using 1.8GB. With so little RAM, no wonder it crashes!
Are my assumptions above any good? Or is it still just my graphics settings? Would any of you know a way to increase the RAM the game uses? |

Did you read the official statement? I posted the link in post #5.
Yes, technically it would be possible to fix it:

It enables Large Adress Aware in 32-bit programs so 2GB limit => 4GB limit.
already worked for me for Skyrim and PCM 2009 (both had enormous amount of crash to desktop). But had to use cracked exe for PCM 2009 because copy protection does not like 1 byte changed, obviously. That's also why I couldn't test this on PCM 2011 yet, because Starforce prevents it

You can lower the game's RAM use by lowering the graphic settings.
You can't higher the amount of RAM the game can use. Cyanide says it's standard for any 32-bit program - and apparently, PCM uses more RAM than any other game. Don't ask me why
The standard version of the game should be able to handle all stages on the highest settings possible, but some databases contain equipment and improved stages that take up more RAM and thus can crash on high graphic settings. If you prefer to have the high graphic settings, you should remove the equipment that comes with the database and use the standard equipment instead.
Edit: Or you could try what Lachi suggests. Never tried it myself

Very interesting, thanks for the info. If the limit is standard for 32-bit applications, I'm surprised Cyanide didn't make the game as a 64-bit application, seeing that it can use so much RAM.
It looks like I'm not limited by my system specs, but by the software's code, that doesn't like me running the PCMDaily DB on high settings
I just read some info about Starforce on wikipedia (the google-cached version since it's down today ) because I never actually heard of it before. Sounds like it can be quite annoying!
If I understand corrrectly, you need a cracked .exe to run the fix, because Starforce protection doesn't allow any changes to the legit .exe. I guess I'll try anyway with my legit version.
If that doesn't work though, would it be hard for me to find a cracked .exe? I'm not trying to break any forum rules here, I'm not directly asking anyone for its location to share, I only want to know *if* I can find it myself. Also keep in mind I have the legit version of the game and do not intend to pirate.

The argument is that a lot of users still doesn't have 64-bit systems.
Obviously, we can't help you find illegal versions of the game, but one Google search led me to lots of possible "solutions"
You could also try to lower the settings which don't mean much to you - e.g., deactivating replays can save some RAM, lowering cities from 4 to 3 etc. |
