How to reinstall without reactivating?

I am not very experienced to PCM games, and at the moment I have to reinstall my game, but I want to make sure that I do not use my second activation out of three.

To do this do I just need not to deactivate when uninstalling, or do I have to back up the registry files of the game?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

You can! Uninstall the game, you get a message if you want to deactivate. Say no. Reinstall the game and you don't have to activate again.

Adding to the information from Spilak23: This only works as long as you do not re-install Windows.

If you plan to re-install windows, then you should save the registry entries of the game instead. Search the registry for cyanide or cycling and you should find 3 folders in the registry which are related to this game.

Yes, right-click each of the three folders in the registry and export it to an external drive, USB stick, diskette or other.

Re-setting the registry:
Double-click the exported registry files to reset the registry.
But you need to install the game first and cancel the activation at the end of the installation.
And as far as I know, you need to install the very same patch before restoring the registry keys, else it will not work. I cannot guarantee this, because I always backup the registry before I install any patch.
