Your scout has to be in the region that the rider is from.
For example, if you want to monitor a British rider(just to make it easy), your scout has to be currently scouting in Britain to monitor that rider.

interesting, kinda makes sense
so with someone from britain it easy as theres only one area to scout but say someone from italy where there is more than one area does it matter where in italy your scouting |

Unfortunately, yes. If you have an Italian rider, you will have to send your scout to the right region of the country. The only way to find the right region is to keep sending your scout to the different regions and find out where he is.
Or you could just go into an editor and find out

thanks for the info
a few more questions if you dont mind
how many scouts do u normally have - i know it will depend on your team and if you've got enough money but in general
and with the scout's stats what effect does it have on scouting is it how many riders there likely to find or is in their more likely to be right in predicting how good the rider will be and their stats |

No problem. As for your questions:
1. As many as you can afford. I love finding young talents so I tend to prioritise scouts over other things. At the moment I have 6, but if you have a really small budget, then obviously 1 or 2 will have to do.
2. Not a clue, but somebody else might be able to tell you. I think it's to do with the speed of the reports they give but I don't know.

To be honest no scouts at all. They cost a lot, make misjudgements and can only scout one area at once. And there is no guarantee someone interesting pops out in that particular region. Makes more sense to observe U23 results closely and take your chances. |

I decided to use this old thread instead of creating a new one.
Has anyone been able to figure out wether or not the stats of the scouts have any impact? What exactly is the difference between a scout with 10 in Classics and 1 in the same area?

@ cactus-jack:
I can't answer your question for certain, but I can tell you this: I only use scouts with a minimum of 9/10 in everything. I have scouted and signed 3 Future Greats so far, and they are all turning out to become exactly that, according to the stars and the DB (after checking some max stats with the editor).
Of course 3 riders is not a big sample size, but so far I can only confirm that using a high end scout does live up to the expectation. |

Are you sure that these numbers stand for the scouting accuracy. I thought it is rather which riders he will find. You can check the accuracy with an editor by comparing the potential of the riders to the scout result and I have never seen a accurate scout. |

I think I've come up with a (semi) sollution. I sent two scouts out, one with top stats and the other one with the lowest I could find. The only difference I could see was that the best scout found 31 riders in the same time period that the crap scout found 14.
I've tried this on several different regions and the same thing happens. I didn't notice any difference in what type of riders they found, though.

Did you send them to the same region or different regions?

Two "equal" regions. By that I mean regions with relatively the same number of riders.

Did the riders they both find get the same 'readings' from both scouts? |
