I am in the second season of a career with an all South and Central American team and I'm going to try and push to get promoted to the World Tour.
However as you'd expect with a team from that region, almost all of my leaders are pure climbers. I signed Rujano and Duarte to join Pantano, Henao, Brenes and Jackson Rodriguez. So should I just go for all 3 Grand Tours because I don't have any riders that can win hilly or flat races? (My best puncher is Duque and best sprinter is Mauro Richeze).
Off topic, I've had some surprisingly great results and I'm really enjoying this career. Some of the younger riders are becoming great and I really want to become a top team.
Any help or advice?

It really does not matter if you are a Pro Tour or Conti team, even more if you cannot win in 90% of the Pro Tour races.
So why do you think that your team should become a Pro Tour team?

Because I want to get promoted! Obviously at the moment I can't compete in the sprints but I've got a young Argentinian who looks like a great prospect (about 81SP I think). And a Brazillian time triallist who is heading for about 82-84 TT!!
Also, it's not just about winning is it? I can get good results on GC. I finished 9th in the Tour of California against a Tour de France-type startlist with Pantano. I've had a couple of podiums and with Rujano, Duarte, Henao and some others, I should be able to challenge for top results.

OK.
I never had problems to promote to the PT, normally I have to edit the DB so that my team does NOT promote. I cannot see any problems with promotion if you can compete against PT riders. Just aim for the races you can get points. For example ride the Tour of Austria instead of TdF, because you might get an easy win there. |

That's good advice actually, thanks. I should definitely be able to go for the Tour of Austria. TT's are our enemy though!
The main problem I have is that there's always somebody better than our best rider. Duque keeps coming up against Gatto in the hilly sprints which is annoying. So many 2nd's.

BTW: Why do you quote all my posts?
Normally, you only have to do it if you reply to an old post or part of the post.

Getting a promotion is the main aim from the Continental Tour, whether your a Climber , Sprinter or all round Rider, So just go out and do what your best at and enjoy the experience |

i (for conti) normally try and have my main GC rider target the giro (and go all out in the early season to get the WC)
a solid top 10 in the giro (Rujano can do this) should see you promoted to WT
i normally try this due to the riders fitness being poor after about May (the TourOfCalifornia is about the latest for good fitness imo) |
