Don't know if there is already a more suitable thread for this, but I couldn't find anything, so here is a new one.
Although I really love the race reports (cus of their high overall quality) I still would like to do a few suggestions, and maybe other peepz have good ideas aswell, so here goes...
First of all, I'm not a fan of the 'micro-jerseys', I think nobody will reconize them within a season time, so I would like to suggest to use the '3 letter abbreviation' instead since they are more logical and therefore recognizable.
I would like to see (if possible) more (maybe 2 times a stage/race) overall time situations, for example in the middle of the race something like this
Peloton | < +3'40 > | E2 | < +1'09" > | E1 | | | | | | ... | | Gelabert (CSC) | | Elijzen (BPS) | ... | | Khatuntsev (TCS) | | Frederik (POK) | ... | | Kessiakoff (WWE) | ... | | Langeveld (KOP) |
"Also maybe make the results more eye-catching, something like this"
Elijzen (BPS) | Frederik (POK) | Kessiakoff (WWE) | | | |
"and jerseys results like this"
| 1st | 2nd | 3rd | | Frederik (POK) | Elijzen (BPS)+1'19" | Kessiakoff (WWE) +2'09" | | Frederik (POK) 98 Pts | Gelabert (CSC) 51 Pts | Khatuntsev (TCS) 32 Pts | | Elijzen (BPS) 15 Pts | Khatuntsev (TCS) 9 Pts | Langeveld (KOP) 6 Pts | | Kessiakoff (WWE) | Langeveld (KOP) +3'45" | Gelabert (CSC) +3'51" |
"If everything above is to much work, don't bother it are just suggestions "

I like the micro jerseys, really. I am slowly getting used to them picking out jerseys etc.
The time gaps and podium layout is a good idea though. It is up to the reporter in my eyes though - they are giving up their own time to do this and they should only put in as much effort as they are willing and able to do.

The podium is great though, maybe for final GCs and 1 day races, but they really give credit to the team that wins.

The thing I like with the micro-jerseys is that they bring the bigger pictures to life. Often you will get a picture of a breakaway or a sprint train and you are looking to match the color with the rider.
I did consider adding the team name at the end, but then part of the fun of it for me is matching the color with the team as you often have to do with procycling.
The gaps one is interesting, I might play about with that idea when I next report a race where gaps appear. Likewise with the podium, that looks pretty cool.

One thing I think about is reporting intermediate sprints - no one gets any points for them - so does it need reporting? KOM I understand as there is a jersey and points at stake - this is just about never the case with intermediate sprints.
With Oleg's ideas - I really like the jersey reporting results format at the end.
The time gaps I think are already covered in most of the race reports - formatting them like that might make it clearer, but I think would be more time consuming for the reporter. Still I think it might be a good improvement.
The podium pictures I'm not a big fan of - I'd rather see the podium presentation screens put up at the end of the race so that I get to see my guys on the podium on the very rare occasions it happens. |

I really like it when they are reported during the race, it is interesting to look at who is showing good form on the day. It also avoids the whole report becoming Break -> Caught -> Bunch Sprint. Instead it is Break -> Sprint -> Sprint -> Caught -> Bunch Sprint

Remember that 2 successful intermediate sprints helped Minard to 7th in TDU!

Its a shame that you dont like the micro jerseys Oleg, I think theyve been the best out-of-game graphical addition to the game we've had, and really improve the reports. And better yet, theyre very easy to add into the reports.
Clearly they may not be so easy if you dont pay attention to which team has which jersey, but those who follow their or one of othe other divisions can easily pick it up. And while its always nice to go back and read reports from previous seasons, its the here and now that counts, so theres no reason not to do something just because in a year or two, some people might not remember which team had which jersey anymore.
As to your other points, to me they seem to be time consuming ideas that dont really add anything. If a reporter wants to try out some of your ideas though, thats fine by me - but its important that the layout of stage results and the overall standings remains the way that it currently is.
And in regards to intermediate sprints. They always give time bonuses, so they should always be reported. And as already pointed out, it provides opportunities to talk about the break a bit more on the stages where the break has no chance of survival.

In terms of the intermediate sprints, what about as a suggestion for coming seasons, 1 ranking point for the winner of each sprint prime?
Generally they are meaningless in the battle for the green jersey and it's rare bonus seconds gained make a big impact. |

Is that not what they are like in real life?

As their designer, I feel the need to defend the micro-jerseys. The intention of them isn't to get the viewers to recognise the jerseys of which team, though I'd dare argue it helps, but instead to help associate the rider mentioned with the rider in the picture.
Using the three letter abbreviations would require people to become familiar with the teams in the same way, regardless.

This makes me feel rather proud of my work. I'm glad they've gone down so well in the man-game.
However, Oleg, your other suggestions I firmly agree with. The time gaps, though often covered well, would definitely benefit from a more structured format. The only downside is time consumption on the reporters part, since tables aren't the easiest thing to format on these forums.
Highlighting the jersey results in your suggested way would be great too, but more than the top three need to be covered if everyone is to get the information they need - and it seems counter intuitive to use your suggested system, and the system currently used which gives all the information.

Just a little info about the mini jerseys.
Everytime there is a BOTD I scroll through the colors and look if any of my riders are in it. If they aren't I might not read all the names of the attackers straight away - So imo they are both time efficient for the reader, and a very good way to make sure you don't miss a rider.
Often I read a riders name and think - Cool I have two guys in the break, only to realize that I sold him this season, or lend him out. So this is very good for me, when I'm not always so focused while reading the reports at work or so.
And then I think it looks really cool. But I would love to get Olegs time difference idea implemented, eventhough I suspect it would take too long to do...
