I've recently purchased PCM11. The game manual is inadequate in explaining the game concepts and strategies. It is a steep learning curve.
Is there a tutorial or guide for new players?

Read this site. Check out not just this year's posts but also read posts from 2010 and 2009. There are lots of great threads regarding strategy, tactics and how to play this game. Use the search function.
Then later on you can ask specific questions and the many helpful and often opinionated (I mean this is a joking way) experts on this site will help you.

What did I wrong?
This has been mentioned many times before but I will do my best to recap.
I use four riders:
Rider A - (1) rider with good flat skill
Rider B - (1) rider with good flat and decent sprint skills
Rider C - this is your leadout, need good sprint skills
Rider D - this is your sprinter
At 25K to go all four should be near the front 15-20 riders in the peloton.
At 18K, form your sprint train, Rider A on dot (free effort) and put Rider B to follow A, Rider C to follow B and Rider D to follow C. Have rider A effort level on 75 - 85. He should bring your sprint train to the near front of the pack without wasting too much energy.
At 5K change Rider A's should have the train at the front increase his energy so that his yellow bar is empty at 3K to go
At 3K sprint with Rider B
At 2K sprint with rider C
At 1K sprint with rider D
At 0K Win.
THis formula should work well if your riders have good form. |

thanks guys. I've read the career guide at this site
https://www.pcmdai...ticle_id=6
but is it still relevant for pcm11?
could you leave links in this thread for hint & tips?
I'm surprised no one is selling a pcm guide on the web.
every other game has a guide.

the only millions of guides that displayed with google search were the youtube ones. I'd rather have a written guide thanks. |

Did you search this forum yet? There is a search function (up left). You should rather search for a specific topic than for "guides".
Also there are links to similar threads below each thread.
About the guide for your link:
- Chapter 0 is not valid any longer
- Chapter 1 is somewhat outdated, you cannot scout your own team. And the riders don't have race programs.
- The rest seems to be OK more or less (I cross read it only)

you experts here may like to help me setup a custom Aussie team in career mode.
I'm Australian and Cadel Evans won TdF, so this team would be interesting.
your advice in setting up this team would be very useful in learning this game.
please help me choose Australian riders?
maybe a British Commonwealth team with Mark Cavendish included would be easier?

There are countless threads about tactics. I have read my fair share, and everyone has a different opinion. If you can find these threads, try different tactics until you find one that works. Riders like O'Grady are really helpful for lead outs, good flat, TT and sprint.

i honestly think mate if you made a 100% aussie team then it cant be too strong at all. evans would be your main guy obviously...and goss your main sprinter. then guys like porte, matthews, gerrans, o'grady, renshaw etc. could pick whoever you wanted to and it wont be too strong for a custom team

It won't be 100% Aussie team. It will be a British Commonwealth team instead.
Countries include Britain, Australia, Canada and South Africa. Are there any riders from Indian sub continent or West indies?
With Evans and Cavendish in team I can't lose
cheers

yeah ive been playing a career with a custom commonwealth team. its pretty cool...just gotta be careful who you pick because it could be way too strong if you pick all the good ones. and trust me when i say you could pick a way too strong commonwealth team

If you make a train, you have to put the followers on 99 too? |

You don't have to, but nothing speaks against doing it. |

Some sort of guide would be appreciated, I'm pretty new to cycling myself and I'm having a hard time winning classics, or keeping my time up during tours and the like, does anyone have any general racing tips which they can share, as I've just this minute failed to get into the top 10 with Flecha on a one day classic, and somehow that doesn't seem right... and I'm playing on easy... |
