Sprint trains
JD317
Friends - I know there has been a fair few threads on sprint trains and I have read them all believe me. My question isn't can I get a train together as I can, however, not in the order I want it in. So my questions are:

1) Can I instruct more than one rider to follow? I have only seemed to be able to instruct one rider to follow which is a problem for trains.

2) If answer to 1 is no, then how does one arrange a sprint train in the order desired? I gather it is a combination of relay (which relay button - left or right) and follow.

Thanks teamers! Smile

I'm not sure if I understand you correct. You ask if its possible to make 2 riders follow the same lead out? Yes. They will follow the same rider, but first man on his ass, gets the seat, next after and so on.

If you want to create a train, what i do, is i put my riders in the right order before the sprint. That way, they all have the right posistion in my train, and they can all follow eachother leading to the final rider.

well...i have set my sprinter up to follow the 2nd best sprinter and that is fine. but when i go to set my second sprinter up to follow the next in line...that dont work. hence i asked if i can instruct the follow function to more than one

and furthermore...how do i get the order exactly? say if the train is 5 lon5 - relay for first 3? then 4th is? 5th obviously follows 4. i have experienced that when using the relay function, it doesnt end up the order i want necessarily

You use the dot function.
Main Leadoutman-99 Dot Function
Second Leadoutman-rightclick LMan#1, chose the follow arrow
Leadout Sprinter-right click LMan #2, chose the follow arrow
Main Sprinter-Right click LSprinter- chose the follow arrow.

Do this with about 7km left.

yes.
the first man in the train should be on 99 and effort cursor. the next riders should be one by one with the help of "counter-sprint" - actually dont remember how it really calls. when the red bar of the first man is over, put effort cursor with 99 to the next one. ideally 3-2.5km to the finish line you should begin a sprint with the last lead-out man.
sprint in PCM 2011 is really cool. in previous editions in most cases it was impossible to create trains in Extreme.

I would set your train up as soon as possible, which is 18km from the end on a flat stage. Otherwise it's carnage trying to get your riders to the right place late on as the pace is really high.

was a good video mate! however...while most of it was easy enough to understand, some of the controls used weren't. for example...as a newbie...i dont know how to select all to follow in one hit like that (i know pressing 0 does this...but the clip said space bar and my space bar brings up the info screen), as well as how to make riders drop out when they have nothing left to give. also how to order as was done in the clip...wasnt sure i understood how that was achieved so effortlessly

He said "Backspace". This does sort the list of your riders to the left according to their position in the peloton.

An exhausted rider will drop out automatically as soon as you tell the rider behind him to ride on "individual effort" (the dot). Look at the red bar of Grabsch, as soon as his bar is empty, he cannot maintain the speed so you have to use the next rider (Bak).

He did not show how to order but you do this as soon as possible (18km to the finish line) using the sprint follow button. Your riders will line up eventually (as seen on the video it took them some time to arrange because they cannot ride through the other riders anymore.)

JD317
oh right not space bar. i thought it was space bar. so backspace does this but not necessarily order them how one would like? ie with sprinter at the end?

I think you misunderstood. The backspace does arrange them according to their actual position in the peloton. So arrange your riders, then press the backspace.

Now, whenever their position changes, you press the backspace again. This is what hillis91 in the video is doing. Like this, the list always reflects the order in the train and you can easily see the red bar, effort and order of each rider.

Here is the video, a bit messy but the key points on how to make a good leadout is in there Wink

understood lachi...i get that bit now. but backstep a little - and before you get to that stage to backspace, how do you get them in order to begin with? a combination of relay and increase/decrease effort???
