Team Leaders

Samuel Sanchez
The great leader of the team. He will be in charge of fighting for the objectives in the Vuelta al Pais Vasco, San Sebastian Classic, Tour de France and World Championships.
He also will be our leader in most of the Pro Tour races and ardenne classics.

Igor Anton
The second team leader. His objectives are the Tour of Romandie and the podium in the Vuelta a España. He's going to be the companion of Samuel in the Tour de France and Vuelta al Pais Vasco.

Koldo Fernandez
Koldo will be the leader in sprint finishes. He will participate in Pro Tour races trying to win points for the teams classification. He also will be our leader in the Giro d'Italia.

The rest of the Team
We have a strong team to support our leaders. Mikel Nieve, Gorka Verdugo, Amets Txurruka and Romain Sicard will help the Sanchez and Anton in their objetives and also have possibilities to test their own chances.
Ruben Perez, Pablo Urtasun and Iñaki Isasi will help Koldo in the sprints, but also could try for stage wins in minor races.
Johnatan Castroviejo and Gorka Izagirre are young prospect between a nice group of riders.

The idea is to plan the season so each rider will have aprox. 70 racing days.

And yes, I will only sign basque riders (scouted in the Basque Country or with basque surname). Of course real riders born in Basque Country are available to join the team in the future.

Next post: January races

Not easy goals, especially the TdF one looks hard. Nice you'll keep it realistic by only signing Basque riders =)

Also looks like Sammy Sanchez will be peak/lvl 5 a lot of times this year (lots of goals). Hopefully he still has some fuel in the end of the year for the WC.

Very nice presentation, and good luck Smile

Good luck. I will be following.

@lluuiiggii: Winning the TdF is like a dream, specially in hard mode. I believe we could fight for top5 or with patience we could reach the podium. Samu is intended to help Igor Anton in the Vuelta, but I will take care of his form to reach the WC in shape. Maybe he will not go to the Vuelta and instead participate in a Pro Tour staged race.
Welcome and thank you very much!

@Pellizotti2, @olabj, @BikeRoel, @roturn, @tsmoha: Thank you all and welcome to the story. It's great to have great writers here too.

PCM crashed on Tour Down Under stage 1 repeat, but I would write the race introduction and the report of the stage after work. (Internal note: Don't use secondary screen when playing PCM)

Report
The day started really quite and the BOTD was formed by 6 riders, between them Dimitriy Muravyev who won the only KoM sprint. In the descent 3 riders, Gorka Izagirre was one of them, escaped from the peloton and reached the escapees. The difference of 7 minutes with 90kms to go was quickly reduced and with 20kms the difference was a minute. Then Izagirre decided to press the peloton a bit more and try a solo attack, but was caught with 10kms to the finish.
The team was well positioned to the sprint with Aramendia, Isasi and R.Pérez, and with 5 kms to go we were at the front of the leading sprint.
But it wasn't enough to hold Sagan who passed Pérez, and went all the way through to take his first victory. Samuel Dumoulin was just behind him and the uphill final give him more chances to beat the slovakian rider. Pérez managed to finish 3rd and Isasi 7th, so two riders in the Top10 is quite a good result for us.

Nice race ricotero_uy, nice podium but do you have good sprinters in your team that can do something good in the tour down under like winning on a flat stage in the final sprint. I hope you can make a good GC for the tour down under, good luck!

@BikeRoel: We didn't bring our best sprinters to Australia, but I think Rubén Pérez is doing great and may be he could give us a victory here.

Report
A flat stage that most probably will finish in a mass sprint. From the start of the day lot of riders try to breakaway but Lampre was not giving everyone to get away. Finally a dangerous group was allowed to go away, with Daniel Sesma in it. Lloyd Mondory (AG2R) and Valentin Iglinskiy (Astana) where also in the BOTD, so if the breakaway had success, we needed to attack to avoid a sprint.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/ricotero_uy/TheBasqueProud/2011/01/20/20110120_stage2_botd.jpg
Sesma did a great job to take all the points from the sprints and the KoM. He pushed really hard all the day, we know that at this time of the year the riders are not in shape, and the bunch needed to do a big job to bring the break back again.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/ricotero_uy/TheBasqueProud/2011/01/20/20110120_stage2_kom.jpg
With 10kms to go, Chad Beyer (BMC) launched an attack followed by Sesma, but both Iglinskiy and Mondory give it all to responde the attack. The bunch was pacing really high, and we moved Aramendia, Isasi and Pérez to the front in case the breakaway was catched.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/ricotero_uy/TheBasqueProud/2011/01/20/20110120_stage2_sprint.jpg
Only 3kms to the line the BOTD story was finish, And the top sprinters team started the sprint. Garmin, Cofidis, Quick-Step and also us were in the front.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/ricotero_uy/TheBasqueProud/2011/01/20/20110120_stage2_finish.jpg
Tyler Farrar was the quickest and was very pleased of taking the victory. Samuel Dumoulin managed to take the second spot and with a great finish, Rubén Pérez take again the last place of the podium.
