I wanted to know what is the best way to use the season planner in your experience. I'm trying to decide which way to use. (1) Pick races then make the fitness schedule or (2) make use the already made fitness schedule and then just pick the races for riders to ride. Also if you guys find trouble filling all the races.
If you follow lluuiiggiis advice, then you only should do it for the top riders of your team. You need the other riders to fill the races. And after you filled the races, you have to define the fitness schedule of these lower riders.
I do it like this:
1. I look at all my riders and try to group them. *
2. I select the races depending on the sponsor goals and/or my private goals if I don't like the sponsor goals.
3. I asign riders to the races
4. I create the fitness schedules for all riders
*Grouping riders:
Let's take HTC for an example. I would make one group with T. Martin and his mountain-helpers. Another other group would be Albasini and some classic riders. Other groups would include a cobble leader and his helpers. Then I would make two sprinter groups, one would be lead by Cavendish, the other by Goss, both having some sprint helpers.
These groups help me asigning riders to the races.
I never knew how grouping the riders together worked. I think I'll try that for my next season. I'm at the Giro and have my team set already. I have Vino in 2nd while basso is first. Everyone else is way behind. For classics like Amstald Gold, La FLeche, Liege Bostgne Liege, I tried Contador on them but hes not so great. I tried Vino and I've almost won. Should I even bother bringing sprinters to the races. I usually make the attack or Cancellera does and never looks back and wins.(hate the guy in the game)?
