VoetsT - Sure has
TimoCycling - Thanks!
Martial1 - Glad you enjoy it!
Schleck96 - He's not out for revenge
Paul23 - That's what pop music tells us
sutty68 - Thanks, mate! Following and commenting as always
Shonak - I think so. Most probably
I've got to be honest, I'm having a bit of a dilemma here.
The truth is that I'm getting a bit done with the whole Northern Classics bit. Got tired of these races and also with the seasons being all sort of the same (northern classics followed by 1 GT and some late classics and possibly Poland).
On the one hand, I'd just like to leave it at that, but on the other hand I don't want to just leave the story at that.
So, after the first post of possible retirement, I thought I'd have Matt quit and start managing a team of youngsters. That'd change things up a lot. But then I reckoned it'd be too much of a change.
So now I'm back on the regular calendar, but I'm not very motivated to do so at the moment.
I'll be thinking about it a while. Also with PCM 14 coming closer, the new story is just around the corner and I'll need some time to do that well, too! |

I survived the hart-attack of the retirement, thanks for that In a way it's a good thing Tom and the loss in P-R made you realise your slight arrogance Your story-writing is indeed great and how sad I would be to see this story end; in a way the story is almost, ALMOST , complete: you have had a couple of high peeks and also a couple of low near-depressing moments. Now you have to find a nice ending

About 15 years ago, I entered my first professional race, which was the Star of Bessèges. It became obvious soon that my career would be one with many ups and many downs, as I crossed the finish line of my first race in an ambulance. However, I returned to the peloton and only two years later I was at the highest step of Paris - Roubaix. My career had officialy began.
In 2017 I reached a first major peak in my career, taking the World Champion Jersey, the rainbow jersey. The season that followed remains the single most interesting year of my life to this date. I guess you were all there with me. The sweet victories, the great moments, but also the rough patches, the bad. After failing to deliver Quickstep the quadruple and making a few bad decisions, I finally came to see my way. I stepped up and decided to be a true champion.
So what happened next?
Well...
Why don't you tell me?
Matt
Spoiler Thanks all for joining me in this story! I originally wanted to make the career span from start to retirement, but it felt all right to end it here. I didn't want to bleed it dry. I hope to see you all at the next big thing: a collaboration story from Mresuperstar and myself, which will be launched as soon as the PCM 14 section opens up! Thanks so much!

Ian... I am sad to see the story go, but if you feel the time is right for it to end, then it has to end! Your story inspires so many on this site (myself included) and no doubt your next story will be somehow bigger and better!

Beautiful story, as always! Shame to see it end, but curious about the next one
Great to see the .cdb being shared as well! I might take a look on it soonish
Also, I understand that you're fed up with the classics by now. You've ridden them way too often now
