Viviani, Filosi and Van Poppel outside the time limit. Awful Giro for Viviani
They were apparently dropped in Assisi after 15 kms and rode the rest of the stage (170 kms) alone. Never stood a chance. Poor guys.

Surprised by the fact that you haven't noticed I am the biggest Valverde fan on this forum...
Good stage, Il Giro delivers. Valverde looked like himself again today, bodes well. I honestly think he will be in pink tomorrow.
nope, i dont agree that.
i dont fanboy him in this forum (which is a trash thing)
Are you guys really the biggest Valverde fans if you dont have him as your username?

Dumoulin was right about himself all along, you can't compete a GC in a GT when you're not specifically preparing for it. A bad day is much more likely to happen.
Brambilla will only have pink for a day. Tomorrow is hard to predict who will take it tho.
Kruijswijk might have a unique chance here. |

Krijswijk has started even to good. Let's hope he will last. |

Not sure what to expect on the chrono today.
El Patron was looking really good yesterday, I think he and Zakarini may just eclipse the tired specialists like Dum-dum and Jungle boy.
Lord knows what Urinal, Rafa, microman and 'The Shark' will do - I do think Chavyy and Landani will lose a minute or two on big favs.

Great stage yesterday, was a little worried that we might not see the GC guys attack because they would be thinking about today's time-trial, but it looks in particular that that it's aggressive Valverde who's turned up for this race rather than defensive Valverde, which is good. Really impressed with Chaves, he seemed to be one of the first to cover most of the attacks and was up there with Valverde and Nibali on the descent as it threatened to string out the group and break the elastic.
The time-trial today is going to be very interesting, as we've had a week of good racing but we still have no idea who's on good form and who isn't. A few people bigging up Zakarin's chances: isn't he a bit in untested waters in a reasonably lengthy time-trial like this? I don't remember seeing him in a long ITT going for GC before, so I don't really know how he will go (although he has looked quietly in very good form so far).
Also, I've put the profile and map below just to illustrate a couple of points: firstly, don't be misled by the altimetry exaggeration on the profile, this is no hillier than the TT last year - the climb to Panzano near the end averages less than 4%; and secondly note just how twisty the road is throughout the course. With a mixture of little rises and and descents, with an emphasis on the latter as we have a net elevation gain of -307m in the stage, this will require excellent bike handling skills.
EDIT: here's a better profile actually, from when they first announced the stage before they started trying to make it look hillier than it is:

Panzano is around 4-5% climb..not that steep but 5km. long can make difference. |

Roglic firing another great TT. I doubt it will be enough for a stage podium, but he is likely to be around the top 10 today - again.
Also a good stage by Stake Laengen, who also seems to overtake Brändle.
EDIT: Stake Laengen 2nd I see... But Roglic should take 1st in a few minutes.

Yeah Roglic - or potentially Küng/Boaro could be the winner if things get worse.

Just watching the way Kung is taking the corners shows just how wet it is, I doubt he will be able to beat Roglics time

Cancellara presumably hasn't fully recovered yet if he's finishing behind Vegard Stake Laengen in a TT?
