We had to send Langlois to his home race, we really no choice. A top results was always improbably. Making it to the quarterfinals is honestly decent in my book.

Where he beat Kittel. Marcel must have eaten something bad between races as he had one of the fastest times in the R32 and then got smashed in the QF. Luckily we are in a position to be philosophical.

Being a pessimist I predicted we'd run out of steam at some point and we definitely did this month, another disappointing result. Guess which sprinters won't be getting a new contract.

Sprint - Pedersen 9th is not bad
Chrono - so I improved Hepburn's Hills and Mountains - he wins the long flat TT and looses 2min 49sec on the hilly TT?
Still its nice to get a stage win and 3rd in Teams having recruited cheaper TT guys Zakarin and Le Bon.
There's a Mountains classification!?

Hmm, TVG nowhere close his last year results in Virginia, but somehow he finishes 4th in GC, interesting. At least some more points to the rankings.

Will take Mullen in 5th in Virginia given his overall skills and our mediocre TTT squad. Good to see a couple of the young guys well up in the young rider comp.

Forgot to comment here, Jungels wasn't terrible in the individual TTs, but would have hoped for a nice stage result, especially on the hilly stage. In the end no real points for us, as we did very badly (as expected) in the TTT.

Our coming late to the party is showing its ugly head. 2 more races end in disappointment for us as there is nothing spectacular to talk about in Canada. Sadly, Quebec was one of our focus races. We have one more race in Colombia and then we have to strengthen our squad in the off-season. We need to do better next year. |

Well, the two failures in Canada confirm once again that the hills aren't our favorite terrain this year - which leaves little hope for the rest of the season. Colombia looks much better according to the preview, though, so let's see if we can pull off another great result there.

Well in between Guardini's 5th place in the sprint challenge and Zilioli taking second place in the Grand Prix, Quebec is quickly turning from one of my favorite cities into one of my least favorite ones!
Plarre really couldn't make an impact in the Canadian races in 12th and 13th, which isn't particularly bad on its own if it wasn't for Equinor breathing down our neck. I hope he can surprise once in October and get us to safety.

Wow, quite the turn of fortune for us. Now 3 named guys in the top CT rankings individually, and established mid pack in the team rankings for our division. Bennett's resurgence has been a real x-factor for us recently.
The U23 team... not so much. But that's why we're trying to sign actual talents now.

our goal was to score around 5600 points in PR, we are really satisfied to break into 6000 in September, racing in last month without pressure in a safe promotion spot.

I expected us to drop a few spots, since things were very close and we didn't have a lot of good races. Still, Top 12 in CT should be possible - a lot will depend on our final goal race in Columbia.
But I guess we don't just need a leader for next year, but also better planning, as some pretty similar or even weaker riders are easily inside the Top 20 in the individual CT standings - still some lessons to learn for the manager!

Pretty good update for us, considering the Vuelta was a complete waste for us. About 500 points to the relegation zone is a pretty good margin to have going into October. If Villella manages to perform we should stay up, if he doesn't it could get close.

Can't believe we're 14th with a month to go after such a promising start to the season! Thought I had improved our stage racing team but we've been pathetic in GTs and stage races. Yates has also not lived up to last season despite his stats improving.

So! Since we are close to finishing this season, it's time to think a bit about World Championship routes. Let's ask people then!
What route type you would like to see? As in last two recent years route was more selective my proposition is some sort of flat one (not because of Komisarek) or flat with a little bit of cobbles. Some sort of 280kms long Gent-Wevelgem type of race?
Other ideas? Thoughts? |
