And talking about the Armstrong-years.. I dont know if it me being nostalgic, but i had nothing against it (I began watching it in 2002). Especially the 2003-edition which was fantastic. I loved watching Vino, Klöden, Armstrong, Basso and those guys.

I don't know dude. Up until today Giro was pretty shit.
You've been watching the wrong race.
Different opinions. For me a weak sprint frield, crashes everyday, bad weather and the hilly/mountain stages so far were boring.
Alright, fair enough. Each to their own I guess. And sorry if that came out kind of asshole-y.

Shocked me when I saw this happen last night. Pirazzi moved out of the way and the motorcyclist just didn't see him, straight over the top. The commentators on SBS both groaned and didn't seem to confident about the guy making it. Good to hear he's still in with a chance.

I can see your point of view. I haven't really liked the racing so far, but if Dan martin had been in the lead for a lot of the race I would have thought differently.

Cyclingquotes.com is mentioning Basso as a bigger stage contender than Majka. I am stunned. Even Rolland and (sorry Kelderman fanboys) Kelderman is apparently better in their opinion. They are calling Kelderman the 3rd best climber in this year's Giro.
Oh, and for those who did not know, he told Danish television that he tried to encourage Uran to follow Pozzo. Therefore he looked at him immediately after he closed the gap the first time. When he then looked forward Pozzo was gone.
Oh well. I hope that Majka will prove cyclingquotes wrong today.

After Pozzovivo and Quintana it did look at first like Kelderman was the 3rd beat but not quite at the end.

Van Baarle is pulled out of the Giro, as planned btw as he's still a young guy in his first pro year.

He was a complete enigma and incredible to watch. Plus, he won the Giro-Tour double which was huge in Italy. And, he was symbolic of the great Italian generation of the 90s - exciting, successful and doped to the gills. |

If Quickstep and BMC are smart, they are going to try to wear out Pozzovivo and Quintana before the final climb on those 200 km of pure flat (dumbest stage design ever). |

I suppose its either that or transfer. Riders hate transfers. |

This plus his troubled personal life made him into a bit of a tragic hero figure.

Starting the Giro on a Friday has really messed things up hasn't it? I reckon the third week starts after the rest day, even though that would mean only 6 days in the week, but I'm not sure.

Katusha kit looks so much nicer with a red helmet. |
