According to the NY Times, Armstrong would be considering a confession. Not because he can't stand being a liar or a cheater, but because he'd get a reduced sentence and would then be able to take part in running or triathlon events again in the future.
I hope it won't happen... |

I'd hate it if Armstrong confessed (reduced sentencing etc., might be able to take part in triathlons eventually), and then came out saying that he only confessed so he could continue his sporting career. Then go on to say that he wasn't going to confess, but had to in order to continue competing, and that it's unfair because he never cheated and has always been clean. I could see a lot of really, really ignorant and stupid people falling for that.

Do you think he'd be willing to testify against the UCI's involvement to reduce his ban (after all there isn't that much left for him to talk about US Postal now)? That could be very interesting and would finally get rid of McQuaid surely. |

I think he'd confess the very least he could, and that his confession wouldn't go anywhere beyond what's already been told by people who testified, so that'd hardly bring new elements to public knowledge.
I very much doubt he'd testify against McQuaid or Verbruggen. He won't take part in any UCI sanctioned event, but Verbruggen is an IOC member, who probably has his connections in triathlon or athletic federations (Armstrong intends to do triathlon or running), so he could use his influence to have L.A.'s ban not too shortened. I don't think Armstrong would be willing to do that. Of course if Verbruggen was involved, his position and his influence at the IOC would be in jeopardy, but still...
And I don't want to see that scumbag Armstrong taking part in any event, he wouldn't do it without doping, and he'll forever benefit of the doping products he used. |

So, will it be a denial, or a really shitty "confession"?

Interview already happened a long time ago. Pre-recorded and edited. They're rushing it to air all of a sudden because new allegations keep surfacing so his star power to draw in ratings is getting lower and lower

Do you have a source? All the news articles I've found are reporting it like hasn't happened yet. |

Where do you think you can get hold of the interview after it's been aired? |

Media are very much jumping to conclusions on this one. E.g. Cyclingnews called it a "tell all" interview when I haven't seen that mentioned from the TV network. The network even said Armstrong would adress the "alleged doping". It's more than alleged, isn't it?
Here's their description: https://www.oprah....xt-Chapter
It does seem though, that the interview hasn't happened. "Live" is surely actually live, right? As long as they're not referring to streaming the TV-channel live. In that case, I think the wording would be grossly misleading, but that wouldn't surprise me.
@Isso: That's just CN forum speculation, isn't it?

It should be up somewhere on the website in the link above.

The fun bit is that the more he confesses (if he even does), the more chance there is that he is opening himself up for legal challenges from various sources

No Squire, I forget where I read it but I did read that the interview HAS been recorded and edited a fair time ago.

The only sources I could find was Huffington Post, who says it's unclear if it has already been taped, and David Millar in The Telegraph, who's skeptical, but offers no evidence.

It's not about lying, since they don't let clear if it will be live. Here's what is on the site Squire linked:
The special 90-minute episode of Oprah's Next Chapter will air Thursday, January 17, from 9 to 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. In addition, the interview will be simultaneously streamed LIVE worldwide on Oprah.com.
I'd go with this live as live streaming, instead of "interview will be live". Especially considering it'll be in Armstrong's house (it's not a studio, is it?).
