Very good first mountain stage for Barguil, and a good effort by Gee to try and defend the KoM lead even if it was always doomed to failure.
The bonus seconds for Barguil are unexpected but very much welcomed - realistically I think the fight is between him, Pogacar, McNulty, Hirt and Sivakov for 4th so as the worst TTer in that group he needs to gain all the time he can. Hopefully the need for PHL to gain time will mean more selective mountain stages and more opportunities to gain time as 30 seconds is nowhere near enough to stay ahead of those riders ahead after the Stage 12 TT. |

Nothing to complain about here, this is the Pogacar I have seen for the majority of the season. A good start!
I hope we can open up a bigger gap on McNulty because 8 seconds is nothing with a 38 km ITT just around the corner.

Pretty decent from Quintana. Around where he should be in this field. Looked a little behind the ball earlier on but conserved energy well in the end. If he could stay around there I'd be happy, but he could still have a catastrophic day or two like in the Vuelta. Tons of climbing left.
Really loved to see the S tier depth though. I as worried cause they didn't stay with Quintana long and weren't in the screenshots, but in the end Gregaard, Kamna, and Eg all put in great performances. For Kamna especially just staying relatively close could be great for the ITT's.

Wasn't expecting a sprint here, but happy to see Grosu on the podium. Makes up for some of the actual sprints.

Was getting pretty excited to see all those Evonik jerseys near the front right before the sprint, thinking we might get a surprise sprint result. Ended up not the case but the stage ended up the no factor one could expect. Next one please

Pretty surprised Sureda got dropped on the climb seeing some of the weaker climbing sprinters that didn't. Nothing stage for us then, happy to have everyone through safe.

Bit of a nothing stage for us, shame to see Peak not make it to the finish in the main group but would have been a surprise if he had beforehand so can't complain. Wonder if the stage was perhaps 20km or so too long for the GC contenders to consider an attack as the AI didn't think it would be able to stick. |

I think Bagioli has lost his shot at the KOM, needed to stay away longer on Stage 8. But a nice run at it. Good to see we are active in the breaks.
Can live with an 8 second gap to Pog, lets hope we can keep it that close on all the mountain stages. Thanks for the reports.

Yates really feasting here on a stage that I didn't expect as well
3 stages already is beyond expectations and this is the first time we've made a splash like this in a GT as well. It was also great to see Yates "Voeckler"ing his way up Luz-Ardiden on stage 8. Now he still holds 5th overall but no it can't continue.
The battle at the top looks to be very tight so I wonder how everything will unfold in these next two weeks!

We go even “better” the wrong way regarding stage placings, having our best rider in 130th
Good to see us finally join a breakaway, though, admittedly a wrong rider in Ariesen. At least we tried! |

I know we came here to support Grosu, but I was still hoping to see Champoussin in some breakaways in the mountain stages. Guess we are all-in for the sprints in the end, but that is not ideal given how they went so far.

Losing time to Sivakov isn't ideal, but gaining time on the other rivals for 4th to 10th is a positive for Barguil. Hopefully he can limit his losses enough to only lose two or three places in the first TT - Pogacar, McNulty and possibly Cattaneo look like they may be able to jump him. |

Another stage where Cattaneo is close to his competitors but loses a few extra seconds. Hope these don't come back to bite us in the end

Important one for us. We need these time gaps to stand a chance vs Phinney and we need to keep pushing on every opportunity. Still a long way to go but the first step was made.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
For people who play the game outside of MG world, does the sprinter behind the main train always fail like this? Do lead-outs leave them in the wind closer to the finish line?
I guess Grosu's weak secondary stats could be an explanation for what is happening because I think Pedersen and van der Kooij are pretty strong leadouts. It really sucks to have the best train in the race, the best sprinter and end up outside the top 10 more often than in it.

Your leadouts need to be a lot weaker, otherwise main sprinter will deplete red bar too early
