Yates acting like Meintjes could really well say goodbye to his ambitions, if there was any ambition left.
EDIT: team not chasing so he just might have given up.

What happened to Gaviria, a shadow of his former self, not sure if no legs or no ambition. Demare really well, first time since Sella 2008 (I think) that a rider takes back to back wins in the Giro! |

Could that explain why he struggled so far? Whenever he caught that, however, it’s not a good sign for the race... |

Gaviria had COVID afaik, but its true he has been declining already at UAE. Yates having Covid explains his drop in form very well.

Are they all going to get tested in the rest day as in the Tour?
EDIT: Every rider and staff from Mitchelton tested negative apparently, so that's interesting, as it leads into the question where he got it from then.

On Monday, yes. We’ll see then if Yates’ positive has repercussions in the peloton. It is odd though, how many tests did they do before the race? Could have been a false negative. But if it were during the race... Cort Nielsen and Wiszniwoski also tested positive during Tirreno but afaik no other riders got infected there, so here’s hoping! |

That Dowsett interview was just pure emotion. Guy's a terrific rider, deserves a contract next year for sure. |

There are countless ways he could have got it. The team will be in a new hotel every night. As soon As the riders cross the line they are surrounded by race officials, journalists, media workers and race security. Then there is also the countless fans on the side of the road.
The organisers can put in as much protocol as they want, but it is very difficult, maybe impossible, to stop a group of several hundred people from traveling around a whole country without someone picking up a very contagious flu like virus. It was only a matter of time until one of the actual riders tested positive after getting very lucky at the Tour.

GUERREIRO
Without a doubt it is being a great Giro for Portuguese cycling, unfortunately Almeida should not be able to hold that jersey for much longer but with only 22 years old he has done more than ever a Portuguese had done in one of the big races

Was expecting this reaction here from TugaDailyans
Guerreiro, the Rui Costa heir
Almeida could become dangerous with TTs and obviously if the race is cut short. Great fight he is giving to that jersey.
Yates case just makes me gobsmacked at fans who don't wear masks. There are infinite unavoidable ways he could have contracted the virus we don't need stupid people spreading their shouts on top of the riders.
