Vantomme the unlucky one as 11th not getting bonus seconds.
Not that they matter at this point anyway.

What a finish. Although, I would like to dispute that Zabel actually finished third... Onward to Willunga Hill. Hopefully, Yates decides to show up.

YES, big one for Swisslion. Hopefully Bilbao can continue the momentum on Willunga Hill...

I'm sorry but there must he a stewards enquiry on the stage over the corkscrew. Clear gap for me and very harsh to say they are the same time. The puncheurs showing who will be at the front on willinga though

Why is Edmondson my only guy that knows how to ride in this race. I just don’t get it! At least he’s 3rd and has every opportunity of taking the GC! Fingers crossed for Willunga in stage 5!!
Congrats Ciolek and thanks Roturn!

Gate keeps on attacking. Just doing, what I wanted him to do. No success so far, but it's good to our colors in that special race!

What a sprint finish that was I believed Ciolek could pull off a win if he was just positioned well enough. Bilbao almost sneaked into the bonus seconds, hopefully another good sign
Ciolek now has a realistic chance to fight for the points jersey and Bilbao can target a strong GC result on Willunga. Good goals to have and it makes the last 2 stages very interesting.
Thanks for the great report Roturn

Off to a great start in what is turning in to a favourite race.
Manninen had me a bit worried after stage 1, but amazing to see him bounce back choosing the right wheel on stage 2 and hanging in very well after that leaving him up there in GC for the moment anyway.
Obviously Gautier is just a beast. Wonderful stage win even though seeing him actually celebrate in his NC jersey would have been even better. Hopefully he'll be able to defend the GC all the way.

Of all stages this is the one that Hayakawa is our best placed rider
Not sure where Kuboki, Froome, Silva etc were today, they really should have done more. Not sure really what the AI was doing with us if Hayakawa was able to survive today he should have definitely been lead sprinter in all the other stages, not Arashiro our Flat beast.

Odd finish with so little action. One one side a good stage from the boys but Degenkolb sadly looks like the GC favourite now. At least Gautier gets another day in the leaders jersey.
Also a fine effort from Manninen, who looks set to a decent GC position as well as long as he keeps his head cool in the final stage.

Did not expect this result at all. Not sure if lack of pace over the top or overly strong sprinters meant they hung on over the top of Willinga.
Degenkolb needing a big sprint on final stage to take the GC honours

Well that was shit What were the puncheurs doing?! Or rather why did they do nothing
Congrats to Degenkolb on another win

It's going to be a long season if Degenkolb is surviving Willunga Hill. We might get stuck in the PCT for another season. I know it's only the first race of the season, but panic is starting to set in.

Big congrats to Iberia - Team Degenkolb. He's a beast this week and will easily take the point jersey, can he snatch the overall win as well?
Both Lo Cicero and Modolo wiped out the last bit of GC-hopes today so hopefully we'll get a stage win tomorrow at least. That should be a perfect stage for Ivano I hope. |

Disappointing stage from a neutral point of view. Of course congrats to the winner though
Jayco just continues to make into the early breaks. 5 of 5 so far. Well done. Also Othman was the right choice this time, as he could have done some damage, if the peloton had failed to catch the group..
