Cool battle between Zabel and Holst Enger, just a pity the German proved strongest. And it's very impressive to see the team again do well with the leadout for him. Congratulations, Heine.
Really looking forward to see the GC battle unfold now, and thank you for the reports, jph27! |

Vasyliv got lucky there, while communication between him and Potocki surely wasn't top notch. So keeping 2nd is a very pleasant surprise. We also have to accept that Herklotz simply i a better rider, so as long as we can keep with him, and not lose time on Kudus in stages like this, we have to be content.

Veyhe in the break! Love to see him doing something with the race. Kasperkiewicz looks like he may come back from his injury too, a bit tentative to say anything but he was somewhere near the front this time, so it bodes well.
Thanks again jph!

Not really smart to not work with Kudus, considering this was our easiest chance to distance Vasyliv. Küng always was tailor-made for this stage, congrats.
At least the good second place gives us a clear path to green now.
Similar stage, similar tactics tomorrow, please! Probably our best chance at a stage win left.

There are some big names up there to influence every stage now, and our guys can't any longer keep the pace up. Wonderful win by Küng!
Herrera and Godoy still in top 20, but top 15 would be awesome! |

Kudus looks like a very strong contender for the overall win now, assuming he will have another go at it in the high mountains. Though, Herklotz also very impressive so far, and as cio points out, the upcoming stage is a great opportunity for him.
Personally I do cheer for the breakaway, considering Holst Enger's small chance of claiming the points jersey at the end of the race |

Kung definately could have done with the time gaps being given on that stage if he wants a top 5 GC at the end of the race.
That said the image of him arms wide at the end of the stage is such a strong one that we can forgive him for not sprinting for the extra seconds and as it's our first l'avenir stage win I think we can definately call it a success.
I hope he remembers this is what he is capable of and that he uses today as motivation going forward and learns from this to get it right more pften.

These mountain stages are insane! Can't believe how Kudus and Herklotz tore that open!
As for us, Veyhe scoring a top 20, is something amazing in the mountains, Kasperkiewicz taking 25th is great too!
Thanks jph!

And just like that the dream is over. Too bad. Now all I can hope for is the final step of the podium. Too bad really.

Total carnage! Moscon reached his limit and no more expectations for the last two stages
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Very proud of the Kraftwerk domestiques on stage 6 just managing to chase down the break with tired legs and deliver Zabel to his second stage win by the narrowest of margins.
Stage 8 was an amazing read, thanks for the reports jph.

Wow, what a comeback by Herklotz! And what a stage, thank you for a great report, jph27.
Holst Enger is climbing ridiculously well, a pity there's no flat stage left Good effort by FÃ¥glum Karlsson, doing the name of his grandfather proud. A top 20 overall looks well within reach. |

Stage of the year candidate!! The racing here is awesome.
Commiserations to Festina, congratulations to Kenya for putting up an amazing fight, and thank you Silvio for an incredible performance to outsmart the duo and take what might be our first Avenir stage win (I'll check later)!
The gap to Kudus doesn't feel big enough to survive the last mountain, so i hope yellow will be an additional motivation in the TT. Green should be safe now bar any unfortunate incidents. Bring it on!

The great racing continues! Great stage win for Herklotz that. Will be interesting to see how the race looks after the TT now.
Würtz has done well here. In a break, and going decent in the climbs otherwise. Really happy to see that. Hopefully he can do something on the TT as well.
And thanks for all the reports, JPH (not roturn as I managed to write last time )
