By hillier I should have said hill top finishes, of which there were two this year. Only one last year. The profile was slightly hillier last year but nothing a decent sprinter couldn't stay in the bunch for. Walunga is the only real hill that generates major gaps. Have that hill earlier in the race and then riders would have to race to make up time.
More often then not the TDU is about not loosing time in the first 4 stages and then race up walunga.
In reality this years race wasn't a race up Willunga, the race was over after Porte put 16 seconds into them on Paracombe, Willunga was just the icing on the cake. Riis is right in saying that taking out Corkscrew was a mistake as I personally think a hilly stage that doesn't finish with a HTF breaks the race up more than just waiting until the final uphill finish. I think a shortish TT (a long one makes it expensive as teams would have to bring out TT bikes) a couple of sprint stages, a couple of hilly stages and Willunga is all the race needs. I know the Adelaide hills quite well and there are plenty of options to have multiple climbs are varying difficulty that you use in quick succession which would create a entertaining stage. I doubt it changes this years result as Porte was always winning this barring accident but it would of made better viewing for the fans.

As a quick reminder to everyone. You you can use the PCS widget for posting results. Would probably be quicker for you to use.
Go to the resuts on PCS. Click More > Embed Results. Copy&Paste like below. The bb code will look like this:
[pcstats]id=172417&ref=default&key=b63af811af93dc2418cfc24ae468e66baa2a1c32[/pcstats]
And thus complete results are easily visible in mere seconds :)

Have to say I forgot the NZCC was on Good win for Frame there, Evans also doing decent with some minor places after stage win on this very stage last year. nice to see the still (P)CT teamless (but I'm still hyping him ) Mudgway do well too. GC wise hope Oram can hold out against the foreigners, McCormick doing well for himself and maybe he can climb onto the podium in support of Oram.
Have to say, Oram, Schreurs, McCormick, Evans and Mudgway is a great team of young Kiwi talent put out by Cycling NZ

Easy for Gaviria, just doing it so easy... Viviani is also full of praise for the kid in the cyclingnews-article today. Max Richeze and Boonen in the leadout isn't too bad either. |

Boonen has said that gaviria will lead him out on stage 2. Very interesting to see wether he can deliver or not. Viviani will probably be his main competitor IMO |

I started this daily betting season repeating to myself it would be different from the past ones. Gaviria looked like he had no rivals in Argentina, so I figured WHY NOT GO ALL IN. Never change Matt, see you in 2018 au revoir.
