Lars Boom cortisol level is too high. Astana is part of MPCC.
Vino asked UCI that Vanotti can replace him. If not Boom will start and they'll leave mpcc.
So, second case before a GT that involves cortisol levels. Just that Bennett's were too low, and Boom's too high. And knowing Vino, he'll leave MPCC for sure.
Third actually. A Bardiani rider also had low cortisol value before the Giro, yet Bardiani let him start. Bardiani quit the MPCC afterwards.

Kudos to Astana for at least seeking to replace him. Even if, you know, they are probably the reason that he has this result...

Any reason why the UCI would not allow the replacement rider to ride instead of Boom? |

For a split second I could have sworn you said "Judus to Astana"

Ha, I was wondering if that was the same PCMDaily Wogs or not, and it turns out it is indeed. How many other Australians from PCMDaily are on there I wonder...

Stage 01: Utrecht (13.8km ITT)
The 2015 Tour de France kicks off with a 13.8 kilometre individual time trial around the streets of Utrecht. Who will strike the first blow in the battle for the Maillot Jaune?
While the time trial course organised by the race does involve some technical elements, with some challenging 90-degree bends for example, overall the parcours is one that will suit the time trial specialists. Some sprinters, Peter Sagan being the prime choice, may also exceed expectations and vie for a place in the top ten for the stage thanks to the short nature of the route.
While Tony Martin, 'Der Panzerwagon' as he is affectionately nicknamed, begins the stage as the leading favourite the locals will be hoping to see an upset. Conspicuously, Martin has yet to win an opening time trial event at the Tour de France despite his recent dominance in the discipline.
The local Dutch crowd will be cheering on Tom Dumoulin in his attempt to become the first Dutchman to wear the Maillot Jaune since 1989. While Dumoulin failed to claim the national champions jersey in the time trial discipline at the Dutch National Championships he comes in to the race emboldened by some great results at the Tour de Suisse.
Despite a decision to focus more heavily on the attributes which make him a strong classics rider one cannot discount the experience of Fabian Cancellara. After a disappointing classics campaign ruined by injury today presents itself as one of many opportunities for the Swiss rider to salvage his season. Having previously dominated the opening time trial of 'Le Tour' a staggering five times Cancellara certainly has the experience and ability to slip under the radar and strike from the shadows.
Lying in wait for the a chance to upstage the favourites should the stars align are a number of dark horses, with Australian hopes resting on the shoulders of Rohan Dennis. The two likeliest candidates, on paper, to upset the apple cart are Adriano Malori and Rohan Dennis but keep an eye out for the likes of Matthias Brändle, Alex Dowsett, Sylvain Chavanel, Michal Kwiatkowski as well.
In the battle for the golden yellow of the Maillot Jaune it is expected that Sky Pro Cycling's Chris Froome will strike the first blow and gain a small advantage over the three other favourites. However, the British registered rider still looks out of sorts at times compared to his 2012 and 2013 performances and the gap back to his rivals, Alberto Contador especially, is not what it once was in the time trial discipline.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the 2015 Tour de France's long anticipated Grand Départ, the sixth to be hosted by the Netherlands in the race's history.

Then Astana will be the third team to leave the MPCC over the cortisol-rule. |

Just checking- is it only me who can't stand stage bonuses?

Makes it a lot more interesting, especially early on, but potentially also in the mountains with the breaks maybe to get lesser time and the big guns wanting the bonuses.
All in for that. I hate it in the Basque country that they dont have it and havent been fond of it being removed in the Tour, hopefully the 4-6-10 is here to stay. |

They had disappeared since 2008. Bonus seconds will again be awarded at the finishes of the 2nd to the 8th stage. The bonuses will be of 10, 6 and 4 seconds for the first three of each of these stages.
https://www.letour...rules.html
So no bonus seconds in the mountains.

Say what you want about Astana, MPCC, UCI and Vino, but how come no one has said anything about Vinos hair?

The coverage starts in 4 mins here, although the race doesn't start for 34 minutes. Can't wait though.
Btw, is there any particular reason that Cancellara hasn't been mentioned as much as normal? I know he crashed in E3 but he is still one of the best Time Trialists.

@trekbmc
Is he? Still good at prologues but not that excellent at longer TTs anyway. On this distance(or longer), riders like Dumoulin and Martin often get the better of him, lately.
He actually won only 1 proper ITT since Vuelta '13, and that one(Tirreno opening ITT) didn't have Martin and Dumoulin.
Look at Suisse where Dumoulin beat him twice.
Not saying he has no chance today though! But not the main favourite here imo.
