What is it with Dan and these early season stage races? Not gone so well for us so far.

Last year Dan Martin in Paris Nice, now here. This guy is just incredible in those races. Well done.
I had expected Spilak to be better. Bad luck I guess. This 5th screenshot shows like 30% slopes??? |

With those stats, Dan Martin should not be that good!

Kratochvila is the man! Fantastic ride by him, hopefully he will be able to keep that jersey to the end!

Crazy good by Dan Martin! Congrats, ember.
Better stage from our riders today. Pirazzi in the breakaway taking some KoM points is nice to see.

Wow. 2 second places in one day. Most managers would be disappointed on not getting the win but coming with these coming in breakaway fashion, I can't complain at all. What a day for the team.
I'm not dreading the the first PT standings update as much now.

Gustav did send me last 2 stage reports to post them. So here is the first. Next will follow this evening.
All credits to him.
Martin...wow. Riding with the best here. Red Bull team mates once more jumping in so that the Alarcan performance does not become too important. |

Nice stage for Oz A bit of worrying report with Pozzovivo never mentioned in any of those attacks, but then again a good sign to not being dropped or something. If the final stages goes as expected, this would be a huge result with Pozzo and Morton going for a 4-16 in the GC! Fingers crossed then..
Nice to see Schleck aggressive though. Would have deserved more then, but hey, I will take it that way. Missing out so close on a leader shirt (Morton this time/U25) is kinda sad though.

There really isnt a lot of points on offer when the breakaway riders keep winning every single mountain and hilly stage. Really sucks to have those terrains as your main priority.

Well, sprints and TTs are so random that it is not much better when you have a leader there.
Another terrible stage for us,noone in breakaway and how on earth can Karnulin loose 40 minutes in one stage?!!
He is not a super climber, but still decent stage racer and leader, so why he finishes with his much worse teammates around 120th place? Pathetic really, i wonder if we can attack all time low of points after first two months in PT?
thanks for the report and congrats to Ember, Dan Martin is really fantastic in this race!

@roturn: Certainly mixed feelings here. But lets be realistic Alarcon is not in the top stage racers - Spilak and Schleck are defo better and with Sicard, Tenorio, Denifl there isn't really a reason that I can even expect podium.
I am dissapointed by him here - that hilly stage has had a bad effect on him it could possibly indicate that this years edition does mean that Alarcons one dimensional mountain stat type of rider is nerfed perhaps? He just hasn't been able to make up for a bad hill stage in the mountains which is a bit disappointing.
Of course big performances from Martin and Pozzovivo, Dan Martin basically has this race wrapped up which is a sensational performance. With Hagen going well in Paris Nice Aker are in a great position here.
For me two stage wins previously and then a big second place from Destribios is amazing. A bit like that Gomez Marchante Giro rescue last year.

Sprints are atleast dealt with proper. Meaning that the sprint is not fucked up by breakaways so the sprinters have to battle for 5th. And the top springers seems to perform well enough, aswell as the top TTer (Coppel), so imo it seems like it is more fucked up that Spilak or Schleck cant win a mountaintop stage, or Boasson Hagen cant win a hilly stage. Simply because of shit AI.

Smowz: Yeah. Your stage results surely made it a nice race for you nonetheless.
SotD: Sprinters actually struggle a lot with breakaways. In especially in stage races later stages, where breakaway often survive with a few seconds only.

Nah, sprinters are also loosing points to breakaways, maybe not much in PT yet, but it will come, dont worry.
Coppel is +2/+3 on majority of prologue and TT contenders in PT, so he is not the best example and who knows, maybe you were just lucky so far and he didnt have a -3/-5 day in daily form, which is actually the most important stat in PCM14 as it seems, next to main stat for actual stage. When zmorka finishes 36th in prologue, i would not say that TT guys deliver.
I am closer and closer to not actually care about whole 2015 season bar two GTs. Shame because of great reporting and pace.

Dan's kinda rubbing this in. Good to have Dombrowski in white although little confused by the report saying we're at the front of the team classification when we seem to be 3rd.

Well Spilak and Andy are even better compared to Dan Martin than Coppel is to his rivals. And there are no random blokes just winning the TTs :-)
