Apart from that I watched the Nintendo Direct and (although I am admittedly a Nintendo fan) I thought it was quite good, despite lack of a completely new and unexpected game.
WiiU looks better than XboxOne at the moment...

I take back the nice things i said earlier about the Wii U!!!
Nintendo are actively trying to put the Wii U down now. I knew they had cocked up but now they are just putting that cock through the wringer of bad ideas...

In terms of Manx vs. Avin - you can discuss all you like about the potential (non-)consequences of the Xbox' restrictions, but the point is: If the hardware is almost the same, the PS4 is less restricted (again, to a certain degree) and it's cheaper, why not go for this option? I just don't see what's in favour of the Xbox, except for motion control, which I personally see as a gimmick rather than an actual way of playing?
I guess that isn't a big deal for those who doesn't need to bunk mum and dad for their credit cards
_____________________________----------------------------
The XBOX One is not really targeted at THE gamer.
I might guess that if you would compare the PS4 and the XBOX One, the one that would stand 10 years later also at your room would be the XBOX One because you can do more with it thinking of apps etc.
But THE gamer would definately go for the PS4 no doubt for that, because it's simply built for those. Still some gimmicks but a lot of core stuff.
Gaikai a major plus because it allows a lot for gamers, streaming PS1-PS4 games (XBOX One doesn't allow this or something close to like backwards compability), PS Vita (well at least one use for the Vita if they don't plan to make more games for the Vita) remote etc.
But I wonder how the Gaikai stuff really works I mean PS say PS1 games, they could just put up 5 or so and thats it but still "PS1 games"
I preferred the XBOX One before mainly because of the games I am used to (Forza Motorsport for example) but now I am not sure if I might take any next-gen console.. I mean there is still a lot to come for the current gen so why take the next train so early. I don't need flashy graphics.
But MS missed out on some plus things like the XBOX One could record all stuff on your TV like TV shows or all the XBOX action you want to record even if it's the dashboard etc.
So it would be also a record box.. I mean when the users troll it "DVR" than it could have DVR stuff
I doubt that MS will make a diffrent XBOX One after the release like they now have their 4th edition of a XBOX 360 announced with the XBOX 360 One or so (as it's looking like the XBOX One) with taking out some controversial stuff as it would be a big kick in the nuts to those day one orderers but would be something to stop the bleeding.
The XBOX One "hot" topics:
Every 24h "online verification" as otherwise you just can watch videos
I would name that is not a problem for me personally, my XBOX 360 is connected to the internet.
But I think the problem behind that is: Let's assume in 10-15 years..
I could take a Dreamcast, plug it in and play it.
If the XBOX One servers are shut down, so whats then? They could patch it but would they really?
Kinect
I doubt that a US company would be that dumb to allow XYZ spy through it (recording stuff etc.) I mean they would be massively stupid because they would be sued with billion claims (USA the country where everything is possible ) and I guess after it comes out a hacker will definately try to hack Kinect to find that out..
Game sharing
The last game I shared was around 2005 or so, so nevermind if there is somekind of DRM. Plus selling old games..
I mean the only real place I could sell my stuff (like older NHL games) would be Gamestop because no one wants it and Gamestop would give me 1€ and sell it for 20€ or 30€..
But I would trust MS more in this stuff (called privacy) than Facebook, Google, Apple etc. but still if I would have it lay something over the lens plus microphone opening.
Plus with the stuff known at the moment, my friends are also on my friends list so I could share games.

I still don't get the "PS4 is for gamers, Xbox is a multimedia box" argument.
Name a useful app that Xbox has that PS doesn't. Besides, in terms of apps, they will become more or less useless on consoles when people start getting Smart TVs.
I have one, meaning that I've never had to open Netflix on my console. It's on my TV, so why bother?
I remember some talk form the Xbox presentation about additional TV tuners, making it possible to ... well, watch TV on your TV, but also some other features. However, these extra features are not very likely to make it to most countries outside of US, especially not Denmark.
It mostly seems like marketing lingo - at least to me who will not get to use most of the features that Microsoft likes to bring forwards as Xbox-pro arguments. |

EA is largest crap and are killing gaming business, that is all that matters.
They just buy and buy companies and destroy good games for money gain.
Also releasing 15th edition of same game again and again is their speciality.

Exactly what you said, it is just a trap on customers who need their gimmicks. Also more functions not connected to gaming does mean bigger risk of something possible to broke and prevent you from gaming.
And as CT said, Smart TVs and even mobile phones does all that things already (not even mentioning pc that does it all better).
Honestly, what i read from people here that prefer x-box, it sounds like they lie to themselves to justify purchase of their favourite product. Unbiased customer would be a bit crazy to choose it over PS4 as it stands now.
Advantage of gaming consoles was ever the fact, thatyou just come and play, without other crap around. Now you will have just weak pc with functions of TV connected to your TV, yo dawg!

Also news are that PS4 will not be regional locked, so you can bring it to another country and play it there, cool.

Well I have to be honest that this multimedia stuff might just work in the US.
When I compare my XBOX 360 and my brothers PS3, there isn't any noticable diffrence in apps etc. because this is Germany, our TV culture isn't that.. big like in the US.
Our best TV shows get at best around 5 million viewers unless it's a football match at the Euro or World Cup with 81 million people here.
Have also to admit that the viewing rates here are massively stupid because just 1000 households have got boxes that registrate what they watch and how many of them are watching and adding it up to 81 million people. So Eurosport has got for example horrible viewing rates every single time..
Avin Wargunnson wrote:

The gaming business killing machine is the customer itself:
- Unwilling to pay for games and want them at best for around 30€
- Doesn't like any restriction suggestion (that would lead into the industry gaining more instead of less because developing games are unimaginable much more expensive than in the 90ies)
- Everytime moaning about everything (well I guess Cyanide could write a song about it eh? )
When you buy games like Battlefield etc. you want it and more from it in the future, because games that don't sell will be bonked and forgotten. So thats why there are so many sequels.
When you aren't buying indie games, you don't want much more from the industry because the indie games are a synonym for a creative way of games. And from people that aren't working for EA, Activision and so on.
When you buy shooters, you want obviously more of them in the future leading into that now a lot of games are fecking all more the same war or state of emergency themed first person shooters..
But those people saying "FU DRM" but buying games via Steam are the worst ones because Steam is a single DRM system so they shouldn't be such hypocrites.
Can you sell there games? No.
Can you sell the license? No.
Do you even own the game you bought on Steam? No.
But everybody likes Steam because they can give out those cheap prices. Why? The prices are rather cheap because you can't sell the games.
All the console makers/developers charge (the first buyers) more because they know the games can be sold at Gamestop (for example) but won't get anything from the sold used game. So where to get some extra money? Right by dishing the games out at a high price. What else?
If there would be a console steam like system (like the XBOX One looks like it would be, after thinking about it, but in a diffrent way) the games can be cheaper in the future.
The industry would then still gain more if they could dish games out for 40€ than without restrictions and 60€ because you can't sell the games -> everyone wanting the game needs to buy the game. And if the industry gains more, they can do more, simple as that.
But I guess it's almost as Steam it would lead into more digital releases etc. if thats good I don't know. If they make it good then that is good, but if they make it bad then not obviously like what is in 10 years. I still sometimes plug in my Dreamcast.
And for offliners there is the XBOX 360 that is still supported for years to come wiith a lot of games already there.
I have never here any problems with the internet so what I don't give a f for that restriction.
If you don't want to be online, then don't buy it again very simple.
If I want to play offline, I don't buy XBOX Live Gold or PS Plus (PS4)? Like I never did just 3 times when XBOX gave one (1 month for buying the console, 1 because I had to send my XBOX once in 2009 and 1 month because of that winter calendar they make here in Germany).
The XBOX One is an online console and as that if you are 24 hours offline then don't buy it.
You just need to be once online in 24 hours and to be honest. Who isn't?
Don't say Antartica or so.
My guess for the 24 hour restriction is because you are still allowed to trade in your games and verify those everytime.
Because at Steam you don't need to verify because you can't sell the games you buy there.
The only thing is that those guys on the E3 stage never ever explained why there is this and that so they hear restrictions they think restrictions = f no.
I would rate the XBOX One after the release because I think they might be out for a positive surprise in the end.
Steam was also very shit (because of restrictions) at the beginning and look where they are now.
Alone the cloud stuff seems to be impressive because you don't need then a more powerful console because the other processes that don't need to be to made immediately can be outsourced to the cloud.

Microsoft turning on a plate.
…today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:
· An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
· Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
