Cya-logic...the 2nd in GC flats and gets support by the team's two worst riders only.

It sucks that so many GC contenders suffers from accidents like this, and I really fear for Zabriskie since he could easily be hit by the same problems, that Cornu and Gerdeman suffered today.
On a more positive note, then it's great to see that Barzajev like Kip is really performing well in the sprints, which should give the team some valuable points, if they can continue like this.

Is classifying a stage as Flat the determining factor for AI attacks?
From what i've seen Mhaley there's only been one attack on a flat rated stage inside the last 20km when a break has been caught in that time and that was in the Tour of Algeria and they got brought back very quickly after attacking with 3.5km to go i don't think we've seen another one at all this season i don't know maybe this hill will see some attack but from what I've seen this season i can't see it happening. |

Well a final podium will have to do as consolation even if it doesn't go anywhere near making up for Cornu. I was counting on big points here and that didn't pay off.
Thanks for the reports Mre.

Shame that Popkov was first to loose that 52 seconds in stage 5 because of his way too early attack, it costed him top 5 or even a podium in the end. So 11th in GC is not a disaster, but could have been much much better.
Vasylyuk was very disappointing as our main sprinter in argentina, without single top 10 and some very lame performances, like in the last stage, when he was also the laughing stock for reporters, but he deserved that. Nice consolation from Vitoria and his 4th in final stage though.
Thanks for great reporting.

Got the stage win goal, and a decent amount of points. I can't complain. A third place (a lucky one, at that) is pleasing. Been a good race in general for Team WWE.

I finally have a good result on a flat stage, 5th with Machado is about as good as it could get from him. Well done to ING on the win, it was a good race but I would have hoped for one more hilly stage.

What a fantastic race this turned out to be for the team! Not only winning the race with Zabriskie, but to see Assan take the point jersey is just great too!
Mresuperstar, you have really done well to catch all the drama (maybe a bit too well ) So thanks a lot for some great reports.

The Tour de San Luis is over and AMEXpc had some good moments and some bad.
After two races our sprint squard is not coming together as hoped. Danilo Kupfernagel and Jake Keough got in decent position in 2 of the 4 flat stages but both times they missed the timing of the sprint. Keough launched too early on stage 2 and then on stage 6 Kupfurnagel took off way to early. It appears we have the talents but not the coordination.
On the positive side Michael Kurth a domestique had his 2nd solid race of the year. He has jumped into 3 breakaways and clearly ridden well on both flat and hilly terrain. He has done everthing we needed him to do. Patrick Gretch had an excellent outing on stage 4's time trial fininshing 4th on the stage and just 5 seconds off the podium. What continued to surprise the team manager was his ability to continue to battle over the last 3 stages to finish 21st in the GC.
Finally Carlos Barredo had a very good week. Sent to Argentina as our lone rider for the hills, he finished 4th on both hilly stages and he never missed a break on the flats and held his own with a 24th place in the TT. Barredo finished 6th in the GC for a very good week in Argentina.
Michael Kurth and Fabien Taillefour will be flying East to meet AMEX's cobble based squad in Africa for the Bahir Dar. The rest of the San Luis squad will be flying North back to Salt Lake City for some much needed training.
Congrats to the winners and see some of you in Africa.

Nice one.
This last stage in especially was the reason why I sent Geschke here as in all my careers this was a stage for a puncheur sprinter.
But I had doubts that Geschke will even sprint due to the fact that Cucinotta was nominated as well. I guess last one was dropped together with the 2nd peloton, so Geschke positioned himself luckily.
In general a nice race for my team even though I had hoped for Geschke to be better in the hilly races. A stage win, 8th in the overall and 2 more in the top 20 is a nice amount of points. |

The Top 6 PCT teams in the standings all race here in San Luis, and Hollister continue their early season charge. The best placed of last year's CT teams not to promote, they may have used 29 race days already - but their average of 25.3 points per race day is the best, and they deservedly lead the standings.
Team WWE continue their stay in what, for them, is dizzy heights, while one of the big promotion favourites ING are now up to 3rd. Sram should really have been in their place, but bad luck cursed them here.
Its quite interesting to see a gap already forming at the top, considering how bunched up the majority of teams are. But can it last?

13 points/raceday is a good amount.
And so far Boom and Bellis haven`t been counted. |

If it was not Mehr-Wenige I was screwed, it will be a long hard season for me.

Great work SN, and what a strong start Hollister has got - really impressive!
I hope that when South Africa is done, then we'll be up with WWE and hopefully be able to deliver some decent performances in Gisborne and Lugano so that we don''t lose our current momentum.
I can't wait to see Gomez Marchante get his debut in Kenya Mountain Classic, even though there is quite some time to this race, and the competition will probably be insane!

Not the best place to be for Metinvest, but that should change after South Africa and there are still four PCT teams under us now. Hollister is owning it.

Pleased to see that I'm still in second place, but I doubt it'll stay like that. I'm guessing I'm out of top 10 when April month is done.

This was a good race for Prio - Port, mainly because of the results than because of the performances, though. Mre's reports were great and provided a great deal of excitement and suspense, so congrats and thank you for that.
As to the standings I have to say both Hollister and WWE are making an impression on everyone. Hollister though was to be expected at some point, but WWE is gathering a bunch of unexpected points. What's even more surprising is that despite Greipel being the 2nd best Continental rider he's only banked one third of the team's points. Sram is still in a very good position despite this unfortunate race for them.
Thanks for the update SN. I'll enter spectator mode for now.
