Giro D'Italia Garda Variant

Stage 11: Tione di Trento - Passo Croce Domini

i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/janniboy/PCM0021.png

i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/janniboy/giro11_zps0f639592.jpg

The second hard stage in a row, and the second mountain top finish. The slopes at Croce Domini is more gentle than San Valentino, but it is far longer.

Stage 12: Riva del Garda - Malcesine

i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/janniboy/21cc56d4-2404-441d-8347-a7c62ee61849_zpsf9ba868d.jpg

As the actual Giro del Garda this stage is going around the lake, but with a few detours up the nearby hills. As an "Italian Classic" stage, it will probably end up with a sprint in a smaller peloton.

Stage 13: Arco - Monte Bondone

i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/janniboy/giro13_zps08cf68ea.jpg

One more mountain stage; Monte Bondone is not steep from the east, and the last kilometres is nearly flat, which could have strange impact for the results.

Stage 14:

Mattarello - Caprino Veronese

i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/janniboy/c2937a69-e4ed-459e-96e8-829ccaff4cd2_zps3544ee21.jpg

i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/janniboy/giro14_zpse3507587.jpg

This stage is starting just outside Trento and down the Trento valley to the finish city of Caprino. It is rated as flat, but the pure sprinters could have problems, as the stage are not really flat. The climbers, though, are preparing for the forthcoming queen stage.

As you can see the "max slope rate" is very high on quite a few of the stages in the variant. This is because of intersections in the foot of the climbs, which often make the slope higher than it actually is, and it is a big problem in the variant because of the huge amount of these intersections.

Stage 15: Garda - Scanuppia

i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/janniboy/0e865a8a-ff54-493b-b67f-143fbcbe9592_zps73190c8c.jpg

i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/janniboy/giro15_zps339d850c.jpg

The hardest stage of the Giro, no doubt about that. Starting near the Garda lake, the first mountain will be the steep climb of Punta Veleno, known from Giro del Trentino. Then a long downhill awaits, before the next climb, Monte Baldo. A hazardious descent from the top of Baldo can be crucial in rainy conditions; the downhill includes 35 hairpins. After one more climb, the riders will take on the monstrous Scanuppia, ranked as one of the hardest climb in the world. Gaps will be made on this stage, that's for sure.

Stage 16: Rovereto - Schio

A new hilly stage awaits, and the end of the Giro is coming closer. Therefore this will be a stage for the climbers behind in the GC to grab a stage win from a breakaway. This will probably not make gaps between the GC contenders, but who knows?

A new mountain stage. The sprinters (and everyone else) will feel it in their legs, especially the second time up the Coe.

Yesterday did the riders hit Passo Coe twice from the east side, now they have to climb the other side in a mountain time trial, with the finish in the ski metropole of Fondo Grande.

Stage 8 has a wrong link. Is linked to stage 9.

How can it be too big for Mediaire? I can upload these files, without problems?

I can confirm that, the link for stage 8 contains the files for stage 9, the link for stage 9 contains the files for stage 10 and so on until you hit stage 13 which is correct again from there.
