It has been a nice and fun Giro, but
I never can over that one never see 100% of the top riders in a specific GT.
Just look at Froome, Nibali, Valverde is not in the Giro, next GT Aru will be gone.
It's like football teams putting a totally different lineup for top league games, and another one for Champions League.
What a wet dream to have seen 100% top GC riders and all their top domestiques in one and the same race.
Something we will never see.
It had been true all other years, but this year, your dream (and probably many other cycling fanatics) will come true. Contador, Uran, Porte and Aru all will ride the Tour, albeit in different roles - Porte for Froome, Aru for Nibbles, Contador obviously is the captain again and would expect Uran to have a free role. All the other GC-riders will obviously to the Tour as well.
That leaves Pozzovivo (maybe Landa) as the best GT-rider who dont attend the Tour which is preeetty good. |

Riis - You sure that Aru will ride the Tour for Nibbles? I thought he would ride the Vuelta like last year? |

Would be very surprised if Aru and Uran are riding the Tour, I know they're listed as doing it on PCS but I'm not so sure. Even if they are, they're not going to be GC contenders. It certainly is odd, and extremely frustrating, that so many top riders are going to the Tour this year, but as I said before (and will keep saying up until the 13th of July) I will be extremely surprised if more than 2 of the 'Big Four' are still in contention by the end of the first week.

Agree that both Aru and Uran won't be at the Tour, also think that it will be a battle of two at the Tour but not sure which two. I think Contador won't be contending for the win, it's been a hard raced Giro and even that he hasn't really had a GC threat he's still had to work so I say he won't win in France unless the others fall over.

While I, on the other hand, don't understand those who goes on about doping all the time. Do you really believe that the only ones who are doping are those who test positive?
Unless you believe this, it makes no sense to complain about the likes of Contador while cheering for other elite riders.
We're you referring to me Squire? I think it's pretty clear on the forum where I fall on doping, I don't single out Contador or any single rider, to me most of the pro's are looking for an unfair advantage be it through TUE's, micro dosing, good old blood bags or other methods.
I don't want to keep going on about it but if people keep cheating then why would I keep quiet about it? I myself can't make them stop but it doesn't mean I should ignore it, I absolutely love riding my bike and love watching other riders out themselves through hell (some of the best riders I love watching don't race) but I absolutely can't stand people cheating, it really does ruin the beauty that our sport can be

Same Ryder couldn't win it, but that's racing. He pace the group a bit when he didn't have, to, but I understand he wants to distance the guys near him on GC too.
Anyway, he gets stronger as the others are fading. Top 5 is very possible!

First time I have to agree with your opinion of wanting Ryder a Top 5. Tbh, I wanted to see Aru crack today. But at least Amador lost major time.

Easy day for Contador, two more of those and everything's good. Aru sorta with his typical win; when the top favourite(s) don't pay attention to him, he can slip away and get stage win, like in Vuelta or even Giro last year when he was still a rather unwritten name.
Rather disappointed that Landa is back to third now. I hope he takes enough time on Aru tomorrow. Also sucks that Kruiswijk is out of KoM jersey.
Welcome back to cycling, Uran Uran. Nice to see that he sticked through the bad week and made a honourable cameon on today's stage.

I like these third week guys like Kruiswjik , Hesjedal ..even Kangert.
Seems like tour first two weeks was not just to hard enough for these guys.
Contador was just holding back..he knows that he still has few hard climbs left.
amazing control there.

Surely Contador could have responded to Aru. Maybe now he has given up on trying the stage win maybe. He must have been confident that if Aru got more gap than he could close it down. Anyway now he just needs to save his energy.
I still fell he is just coming into form for TdF. Even if he is not at his best we still need him for all the entertainment. He will just keep attacking and trying. Like in 2013 he was not at his best but yet they tried field split in cross wind plus attack on downhill from Alp D'Huez |

Or even better as in 2011, he attacked after 17km on the Alpe D'huez stage. One of the best performances in terms of excitement and entertainment. Attacking and being out all day. Looking like he was going to win in Pantani style, and cracking in the end so Rolland wins and Contador taking third as i remember |

I meant to say that they were going to the Tour instead of the Giro, of course its not frustrating on its own that we have such a high-quality field for the Tour, it's just when it comes at the expense of the field at the Giro. The Giro's been amazing, but imagine what would have happened if Contador had another of the Big Four posing a serious challenge for the win

Perhaps it would help Hesjedal to do well on the stage if he had as many guys left with 40k to go as CCC Polsat.
