I'm sorry to make this a short report but I played it ages ago and failed to find time... Now I've forgotten how the stage played out other than the main events so, we re-join the action in spain 30km from the finish line...
A day which had been hard fought so far, countless attacks being chased down kept the pace very high right the way up to this point.
Spoiler
As we head back to the current race, we see yet another attack, but this time it's clear that this is no break for a stage win, but rather the start of the GC fight!
Chris Horner was the first man to attack, on the first of the 3 short final climbs.
He was however brought back just before the final climb, and as he was caught, so another volley came... This time it was the pre-race favourites making the attack, and sadly Chris had nothing left to follow them.
Valverde managed to outsprint his rivals to take first place, he was followed in at S.T by Andy Schleck and Samu Sánchez, Whilst Chris finished in a large group 31" behind the leaders.
With Horner not looking quite up to scratch, the GC will be a difficult mountain to climb. Today we'll be looking for a breakaway, to see if we can get our paws on the KOM jersey.
As per pre-race intentions, we set about creating this mornings breakaway. Captain America was keen to take on the job, and sure enough he managed to get away early on in the stage...
He was joined by 11 others, including some strong climbers such as Mosquera and Seeldrayers of Quickstep, however he managed to collect 21 points during the various KOM sprints held today, enough to move into the KOM jersey come stage-end.

Surprisingly, despite having the leaders jersey on there leader Valverde's back, Movistar left it to Euskaltel and Radioshack to do the chasing. It proved to be a good decision however, as the duo brought the break back in good time ready for a GC showdown.
Nibali made the first major attack, and several teams set about chasing him down, he was followed by Kreuziger, but the duo were caught with over 15km to ride.
The most threatening attack came just as the riders were cresting the final hill. Euskaltels leader Sánchez broke clear, and was making good use of his descending abilities to get a gap...
But to no avail, as the GC leader himself put in the effort, and brought back the spaniard with 4km to ride. Horner was still in the front group, and had found a position on the wheel of Damiano Cunego.
With 1.2km to go, it was looking like a good wheel, and Chris found himself very well positioned, could he take his first stage win of the season here in his favourite race?
No. Sadly his sprinting ability wasn't good enough and he struggled to hold the wheel of the man in front. WC Cunego takes the stage win, with Horner claiming 6th place.
Not a bad result for us, considering Chris' lacking love of downhill terrain, and we move steadily up the GC.
Other than the TT, today is a last opportunity for the GC contenders to gain some placees. Dave is going out in the break again, to make sure he claims that KOM jersey, and hopefully Horner can follow the decisive moves...
Joining Zabriskie in the KOM fight, was Caja Rurals rider from yesterdays break, Aitor Galdos. Captain America managed to hold off the competition in the 2 big sprints of the day however, to confirm the victor of that competition with 2 days to go.
On the climb before last, a huge move with many big GC names went clear. Sánchez and Nibali lead the move over the top of the climb, which despite his best efforts, Chris sadly couldn't follow. It was now the time to work with Lampre, to bring this big group back!
The elastic however, had snapped... Sánchez, Nibali and Schleck repeated the move on the final climb, and opened the gap over a minute and a half!
Horner was having a bad day (-4) and really didn't have the energy to attack, so we wave goodbye to the thought of holding it for another year...
Sánchez however wasn't going to hang around! He gave everything on the descent, and created an almost 30second gap to the duo, who were trying everything just to keep him in sight!
Sánchez takes the stage, and with it almost certainly the GC in his home territory of the Basque. Schleck wins the sprint for second 38" behind, whilst Horner rolls in inside the peloton (48 men) 1'38" after Sánchez stormed home.
The day is classed as flat, we might try something on the short hill conisdering the stage is only 111km, but it will probably come down to a sprint finish.
The hill was enough to kill the sprinters, but not to springboard any form of an attack. We'll have to put the effort in during tomorrows TT to move up the rankings, after we saw Samuel Sánchez collect his second stage win in 2 days, after a powerful uphill sprint against Cunego.
The final day of this race is a 22km TT. We're hopeful of breaking into the GC top10 today with Dave Zabriskie, whose had a fantastic race so far, already claiming the KOM jersey!
It was Radioshacks rider Jason Mcartney who set the first strong time, 31'48" which put him over 30" ahead of second place at the point he set off round the course...
However, no sooner was this set, than Jean-Christophe Peraud absolutely destroyed his time, shaving a full minute off his time! Good enough for 9th place in eventuality.
The next of the Time trialists to set off was our very own Dave Zabriskie. He rolled in provisional second, two seconds behind JC-Peraud, eventually taking 10th place in the TT.
Luis-Leon Sanchéz won the Worlds TT last season, though he was unable to replicate that ability, despite initially going 1st with a time 5" quicker than Peraud, he only finished 7th at conclusion.
Gustav Larsson of Sweden rode an excellent TT to move above the rest, with just 10 riders left to start, 16" quicker than the Frenchman, and enough for overall 4th on the stage.
The final key competitors were rolling now, Kreuziger, Nibali and Sánchez. Despite good times from the first two, (both making the podium,) their was once again, nobody to stand in the way of Sánchez who takes a third consecutive stage, and with it the GC in his Home region.
Overall Results
Zabriskie is our best placed man, he did indeed break into the top10 thanks to a great time-trial, but not exactly what we'd come here hoping to achieve after success last year.
Sánchez is the hands-down winner, collecting three stages, the GC and the Points jersey. Andy Schleck is unfortunate to just slide from 2nd place on the final stage, after being caught out by the Time Trial.

All in all, there are good and bad things to take from this, Chris was unlucky to miss out on a decisive move, and received little help when he tried to set up attacks himself...
Having said that, Dave Zabriskie had a great race, winning the KOM competition after some aggressive breakaway work, and he also collects a top10 finish in the GC.
I think the time has come for this to end, the team is too weak, so results are mostly poor, I seem to have lost most of my followers, and I'm losing motivation, I'll come back with a 2012 story for sure though, you guys mind that?
I'm sorry folks, after much consideration over the past couple of weeks, I've decided to end this story. It's a shame to let go after 39 pages of fun I know at least I've had with the Exxon-Duke-Walmart boys.
To be honest I've been suffering motivation issues for a while due to the weak team I have, and then this recent hoodoo with the USADA investigation, and the coming to light that most of the teams best were dopers doesnt help...
I'll be back soon with another story, which will (sort of) link to this story, so for those of you who enjoyed this, look out in the PCM 2012 Forums for my new story
I know I'm suppossed to say something like, " Good luck", or "sad that it has to end, but I'll still follow", but too bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Screw you!
Most of the teams best were dopers? Horner? Farrar? I don't care what you think. You will say I'm overreacting, and that's fine, but why don't you not start a new story. Kill off Exxon my ass. Screw you to hell.
Yeah, I'm overreacting, but this needs to be said from my POV, cause it's true. You have no idea how much this story meant to me.

RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy
I'm sorry Baseball, I know it kind of sucks, but I'm just not really enjoying it anymore, it feels like effort rather than fun...
My other reasons:
1. Uni is taking up a large portion of my time, making it feel to me as though its not flowing anymore...
2. When I patched my game to sort the sprint bug, It reverted back to the old style of race name, and I can no longer search through sponsor zones, instead it just crashes
3. The team is weak, we're barely scratching the top10 in most events...
Query, are there others who agree with Baseball and really want it to continue? If so, could anyone help to sort problem 2?
If people are that keen, then I might just take a small break, and then come back to it in a week or 3, alternatively, I will just stick to the game plan, and continue with my idea for the new story, which was to start on PCM12, and do a one rider story about Exxon's Shy Vogel, beginning at the start of next year?
@Alakagom Cheers man, Glad I kept you entertained anyway, hopefully my new one will as well, I've tried to do something unique, I think it could be good fun
@Fcancellara Hope you enjoy the read, It's always great to know you've got followers
