A first shock after reading this mail in the morning:
img822.imageshack.us/img822/7961/emailboonentoshack.jpg
1. I can not imagine Tommeke riding in another team than QuickStep
2. Steegmans is as fast as Boonen and defeated him at the Ronde and in Roubaix
3. It would be boring to write a story with Boonen as we would win every cobble classic..

img840.imageshack.us/img840/8027/lancearmstrongstats2.jpg
Lance improves his recovery, so we may have a good chance at the last weak, but his power loss at the cobbles will make it harder to gain time at Arenberg.
+ 1 Recovery
- 1 Cobblestone

img84.imageshack.us/img84/3466/dimitriymuravyevstats.jpg
Maybe we had luck. Muravyev improved his cobble stat again, so he will be a good help for Lance at the cobbles!

The Tour de France is an annual bicycle race held in France and nearby countries. First staged in 1903, the race covers more than 3,600 kilometres (2,200 mi) and lasts three weeks. As the best known and most prestigious of cycling's three "Grand Tours", the Tour de France attracts riders and teams from around the world. The race is broken into day-long segments, called stages. Individual times to finish each stage are aggregated to determine the overall winner at the end of the race. The rider with the lowest aggregate time at the end of each day wears a yellow jersey.[1] The course changes every year, but the race has always finished in Paris. Since 1975, the climax of the final stage has been along the Champs-Élysées.

Alberto Contador
On the paper, "El Pistolero" is the ultimate favourite. He already showed at the Tour de Suisse that he is in top form. It is almost impossible to beat him. Almost.
+ Best climber; really good time trialer
O Average Team
- Vinokourov won the Dauphiné and probably wants some freedom

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg[img]
Andy Schleck
Though he only finished 10th in Switzerland, he is probably the only one who is able to beat Contador. With the strongest team at his back, he have perfect support.
+ Good climber; strong team
O Average at cobblestones
- Weak at time trials; his brother Fränk does not seems to be in shape and can not support him well

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Lance Armstrong
The former dominator of the Tour de France is getting old, but still a strong rider. After a podium 2009, he showed that he is still competitive. All cycling fans ask themself the same question: Is it really possible that Lance Armstrong wins the Tour de France an eigth time?
+ Huge experience from former wins; a strong team with strong supporter like Paulinho or Popovych; the best cobbler from all the favourites
- Unfortunately not as strong as Schleck or Contador at the mountains; lost much of his former TT strength

Samuel Sánchez
After his 2nd place at the Vuelta 2009, Sánchez is counted to the best stage racers in the whole world. Until now, he was not able to show a really good result at the Tour, but we have to look at him...
+ Strong climber; good abilities at long time trials
- Weak team; weak on cobblestones; maybe form problems, he was not really convincing at the Dauphiné

Denis Menchov
2 times winner of the Vuelta, already on the podium at the Tour de France 2008 - is there more to say?
+ Strong climber; good time trialer; Gesink will be a strong helper
- Problems on the cobbles; not the only leader from Rabobank (Freire)

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Christian Vande Velde
Normally only a favourite for a Top10, but after his great Dauphiné, he might be a secret favourite...
+ Hes in a great shape; Hesjedal and Danielson are strong helper; strong time trialer
- Compared with Menchov or Contador, he has problems on the mountains; Very weak on cobblestones; not only leader from Garmin (Farrar); might lose time on hilly stages (only 73 hill)

Fränk Schleck
A strong climber with some problems against the clock. Usually he works together with his brother, but after showing form problems at the Tour de Suisse, he might be to weak to support his young brother...
+ Strong climber
- bad performances at time trials; he might have form problems; must help his brother

Roman Kreuziger
After an 8th in Switzerland and the double at the national championships, it is clear that Kreuziger is in shape and should be able to finish in the Top10, ifä not better...
+ Nice shape; good time trialer; motivated due to his new jersey
- Compared to the big favourites, he have problems on mountains; weak team for the mountains and not the only leader (Bennati/Chicchi); weak on cobblestones

Levi Leipheimer
After a great Giro and a 5th in Switzerland, he is of course a favourite. But with the Giro in his legs, he might be tired and he have to work for Lance.
+ Strong time trialer
- Already ride the Giro; poor at the cobbles; only Co-Leader from RadioShack

Alexandre Vinokourov
The kazakh had a great early season, winning Milano-San Remo, and showed old strength at the Tour de Suisse, beating Sánchez, Vande Velde and Paulinho! Unfortunately he is in the same team as Contador...
+ Still a good time trialer; good form
O Average cobbler
- Can not keep up with the really good climbers; He probably have to help Contador

Bradley Wiggins
The big surprise from the last year, where he finished 4th and only 37 seconds behind Armstrong! But only with average results 2010 with an average Giro where he finished 17th...
+ One of the best time trialers; strong on cobblestones;
O Only Löfkvist as helper
- Poor mountain abilities compared to the top favourites; already rode the Giro and might have form problems

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Robert Gesink
One of the biggest dutch stage racer talents since a long time, but without any good result this year. And after a weak Dauphiné (20th), he will have to help Menchov.
+ Good climber
- Poor shape; Have to help Menchov; Weak time trialer; poor on cobblestones

Jurgen Van den Broeck
After a 15th in Switzerland, he might have some shape problems, but supported by Peraud, he should make it in the Top10.
+ Decent climber
O Average at the cobbles
- Only an average time trialer; not the only leader from Lotto (Gilbert, Roelandts)

Tony Martin
OK, maybe I am counting him to the favourites because I am a German as well, but after a great Tour de Suisse where he defeated rider like Andy Schleck or Armstrong, he might be able to show a good result in the Tour as well.
+ Except Cancellara the best time trialer; Great shape
- Still to weak at the climbs; really poor at the cobbles; his team works for Cavendish.

Andreas Klöden
His best times are over, but he wants to show his new jersey and showed at the Tour de Suisse that he is still a rider for a Top10.
+ Strong against the clock
- Weak cobbler; lost his forme strength at mountain stages; only the third leader from RadioShack.

RadioShack
Spoiler
We have Lance Armstrong as leader, so we must have the goal to win  To be honest, already a Top 5 would be a nice result for Lance. Our Co-Leader Levi Leipheimer and Andreas Klöden will try to finish in the Top10, also Yaroslav Popovych, Sérgio Paulinho, Chris Horner and Janez Brajkovic might be able to achieve a Top10, but their most important job will be to help Lance, Levi and Klöden. Rast and Muravyev are here to help Lance over the cobbles and will support him at the flat stages.

- Top 3 [MAIN SPONSOR GOAL] (Armstrong)
- Top 10 (Leipheimer, Klöden, Popovych, Paulinho, Brajkovic)

Prologue: Rotterdam, 8,9km
img21.imageshack.us/img21/5148/tourdefrancestage1.gif
The prologue of this years Tour de France starts, like the Giro, in the netherlands. An almost 9000m long flat time trial over some small hills will be a good oppurtunity to see the shape from the favourites.

Team goals:
- Top 5 (Klöden, Armstrong)
- Top 15 (Leipheimer, Brajkovic, Paulinho, Popovych)

Favourites: Fabian Cancellara, Tony Martin, Alberto Contador, Roman Kreuziger, Lance Armstrong
My tip: Fabian Cancellara seems to be back after his injury, so he will win today.

baia
Great report.Freire is dominating in individual wins..good luck for the Tour.

lluuiiggii
Le Tour de France is here!! YAY!!

Are you getting Armstrong to peak a bit earlier for the cobbles stage? Good luck for the TdF, the race we all have been waiting for Smile

Armstrong can do it, and hopefully the co leaders also get good results!

roturn
Good luck in the Tour. Armstrong seems to be in a perfect shape and even improving with 38 years!!!

Would be great if you really get a top3 with him and 5 top 10 with the others Grin

Alakagom
+1 Never seen in my game Armstrong improving, hopefully you gonna achieve your sponsor goal easily, gonna be amazing fight for third between you, Menchov and Sanchez, now with a great starting shape, maybe top3 for Armstrong.

Did he returned recently? Because if yes, it might happen what happened with Masciarelli in the Giro. Pfft

@All
Thank you very much Smile
Sorry for not updating at the last days, but I became ill over the weekend Sad

@roturn/Alakagon
Well, "improving" might be the wrong word Grin We want to gain some time at the Arenberg-stage and this stat loss might destroy that tactic Sad But with his strong recovery (and indeed improved, yay!), we might be able to try something at the last week, too.

@lluuiiggii
Right Wink As mentioned above, we want to gain some time there..

@FreitasPCM
He returned shortly before the Dauphiné, where he performed similar to Masciarelli in Italy  But after his dominant victories in Switzerland, I am sure that his shape is alright.

Forgot to mention the favourites for the bunch sprint at this Tour de France (I'll also add them at my previous post):
***** Cavendish
*** Farrar, Freire, Greipel
** Petacchi, Boonen, Davis, Boasson Hagen
* Ciolek, McEwen, Bennati, Chicchi, Napolitano, Cardoso

img547.imageshack.us/img547/7954/k2pcm0001.jpg
Welcome in Rotterdam, welcome at the 2010 Tour de France! The first mentionable time came from a guy who seems rather happy about the start of his home race (according to the good time). Benoît Vaugrenard - 11'31"!

img220.imageshack.us/img220/8160/k2pcm0002c.jpg
Even David Zabriskie couldn't defeat him - 11'38"

img89.imageshack.us/img89/9122/k2pcm0004.jpg
Maybe I was wrong... Alexandre Vinokourov did not look as fresh as in June, only an average time from him - 11'39"

img146.imageshack.us/img146/9098/k2pcm0006h.jpg
What a great jersey Grin Though Popovych was not able to beat Vaugrenards time, he did quite well - 11'36"

img15.imageshack.us/img15/1475/k2pcm0007.jpg
Finally Scotsmen Dave Millar finished three seconds better than Benoît - 11'28"

img689.imageshack.us/img689/5046/k2pcm0008.jpg
Alex Rasmussen seems to be motivated because of his new jersey, he showed a good performance today though it was not enough to beat Millar - 11'33"

img694.imageshack.us/img694/5137/k2pcm0009.jpg
Tony Martin with a new jersey, too! And he was on fire today Shock 19 seconds faster than Millar! 11'09" Good job Tony!

img228.imageshack.us/img228/6140/k2pcm0010.jpg
OK, I am not that good at prologues, but nonetheless I expected some more from Levi, he was only 2 seconds faster than Yaroslav, but 25 seconds behind Martin - 11'34"

img832.imageshack.us/img832/5613/k2pcm0011.jpg
Also Andreas Klöden was not able to compete with Tony, but was only 12 seconds slower. At least a second for the moment - 11'21"

img828.imageshack.us/img828/9766/k2pcm0012.jpg
Fabian Cancellara wants to show at the most important cycling event that HE is the best time trialer - and failed! SEVEN SECONDS BEHIND MARTIN Pfft 11'16"

img706.imageshack.us/img706/8837/k2pcm0013.jpg
Janez Brajkovic was dissapointing today. He did not felt good (-4 daily form) and never found in this prologue. 40 seconds behind Martin... 11'49"

img827.imageshack.us/img827/6985/k2pcm0014.jpg
Roman Kreuziger was the exact opposite to Brajkovic today... Almost. Though he was very fast, he did not take the besttime. 11'16" , like Cancellara.

img684.imageshack.us/img684/3799/k2pcm0015.jpg
Bradley Wiggins can not be happy with his performance today... I expected him better than 24 seconds behind Tony Martin - 11'33"

C'mon Lance, Go for the eight victory! Nice performance from Armstrong today, of course slower than Martin or Cancellara, but only six seconds slower than Klöden - 11'27", thats the fifth place at the moment Grin

Alberto Contador submit another proof for his great shape. Nonetheless 10 seconds slower than Martin, THATS THE FIRST STAGE WIN FOR TONY MARTIN AT THE TOUR DE FRANCE!

Remembering my weakness at this short time trials, I am quite happy with this result. Except Kreuziger and Contador, we gained some seconds on all the other favourit. A symphatic stage winner as well, so no thing to grumble about today.
