I don't understand why touchscreens are so popular. You can't memorize a touchscreen keyboard and a mouse gives much more presicion and possibilities. People are like, "look, I can scroll with a flick of my finger". But with a mouse I don't even have to lift a finger to scroll with ease. It's counter productive.
For phones and stuff I get it, but I think Windows 8 should have been exclusively mobile then.Personally, I don't think this is the new age with tablets and crap. It might just be a passing trend when people finally realize what is better. I don't understand why they would screw over the people who gave them their success for peope who will buy any crap gimmick. I mean, it doesn't even have a start button,. instead it has an ugly Metro thing. Counter intuitive.
In terms of Steam, I can't see it getting that poular (as much as windows) because Microsoft has many deals with the hardware designers to come with Windows. Only their hardware would have it. Therefore I would see it battling with Mac and Linux more.
Touchscreens are also counter productive in replacing buttons. This commercial always aggravates me.
Okay, so it is somehow easier to scroll and manuever through a touchscreen instead simply pressing a button while driving a car at 65 mph on a highway. That makes sense. Simplicity is the point, but it is not simple at all! So what is the point? I can press a button in my car just by feeling it, why should I have to look at it. And this goes for all tablets. I feel the keyboard and mouse and can type. Companies aren't worried about safety that could be involved in this because it's the latest gimmick. It will end soon. I hope. PC is the best. Bring on the fights. For once I can prove my case properly. Or perhapess we should move this to the Difficult Topics.

What you're talking about is a really interesting problem in human-computer interaction called haptic feedback. Lots of work is being done on it, and some of the solutions are pretty cool: https://www.bbc.co...y-20970928Edited by Crommy on 16-02-2013 21:10

One of the problem with keyboards is the amount of microbes they host. Only the toilet lid host more of them in an average house.
But I'm the only one that touches my keyboard and I clean it regularly. Why do they get so many?
Crommy: That is fricking brilliant! I still don't like tablets, but that is a great change. Should definetly be on all tablets and phones.

If it`s not snowy, icy or muddy, then there is no duty to have winter tires in Germany.
If it is and you still have summer tires you pay a nice fee.
If you have all-weather tires, then it counts as winter tires iirc. So having those might be the safest.
Profiles of min. 1,6mm are needed. Min. 4mm for winter tires are recommended.
Studded tires are forbidden in Germany.
Edit: Zabel`d in a non cycling topic...

Wow.... oh my god....

Spoiler
That was the greatest game of Battlefield (any version) ever!!!
Vietnam, Hastings map.
32 vs. 32
USA wins by 2 over Vietnam...
67mins of solid fighting and it comes down to that! Neither side ever gained an advantage. As soon as a control point was taken, another was instantly lost.
The biggest gap between the teams was only ever 20!
In the closing stages Vietnam took a 30-20 lead, which, after the greatest scene of fighting ever (seriously i wish i could have screeshoted) had dropped to 14-5!
The enter Rambo (me) on a rampage with a pistol, who brings it back to 3-2 in favor of Vietnam.
Then (yes there is more!) a Huey is hit and starts to sprial down out of the sky. If it hits the ground Vietnam will win!
Not if Rambo can help it, stabs one man, draws pistol, kills second man, emptys pistol wildly across river.... Huey hits a building.... Game over....
USA 2 Vietnam 0.....
Still recovering....
