Depart with another beloved little startfield Smile

img684.imageshack.us/img684/9694/k2pcm0006.jpg
Without any reason, the peloton splits in several groups (This also happened in Switzerland, it seems that bug always happends at little startfields :/)
Rider in the front group: Mikhail Ignatiev, Vladimir Karpets, Alexander Kolobnev, Timofey Kritskiy (Katusha), Petr Ignatenko, Alexander Miranov, Evgueni Popov, Alexander Porsev (Itera-Katusha), Dimitry Kozontchuk (Rabobank), Alexander and Vladimir Efimkin (AG2R), Maxim Belkov (ISD) and of course Ivan Rovny (RadioShack). No Menchov, no Ivanov!
Group Kolobnev-Efimkin-Rovny;
+2'53" Group Ivanov-Menchov

img714.imageshack.us/img714/1475/k2pcm0007.jpg
More rider were dropped, Rovny, the Efimkin brothers and four Katusha rider left in front with 83km to go. More behind, Sergei Ivanov and Denis Galimzyanov realised that they have to do something
A.Efimkin, V.Efimkin, Rovny, Karpets, Ignatiev, Kolobnev, Kritskiy;
+1'02" Mironov, Belkov, Kozontchuk, Porsev Popov, Ignatenko;
+4'47" Ivanov, Galimzyanov;
+5'38" Group Trofimov-Menchov

img253.imageshack.us/img253/5046/k2pcm0008.jpg
43km to go, and Vladimir Efimkin attacked! Maybe to early?
V.Efimkin;
+11" A.Efimkin, Rovny, Karpets, Ignatiev, Kolobnev, Kritskiy;
+3'35" Mironov, Belkov, Kozontchuk, Porsev Popov, Ignatenko, Ivanov, Galimzyanov;
+6'22" Group Menchov-Trofimov

img21.imageshack.us/img21/5137/k2pcm0009.jpg
In hunt for Efimkin, Kolobnev and Ignatiev upped the pace. A long time, Rovny was able to keep up with them, but with 10km to the finish, he finally was dropped.
V.Efimkin;
+45" Ignatiev, Kolobnev;
+1'03" Rovny;
+1'30" Karpets, A.Efimkin;
+4'37" Kritskiy;
+6'49" Group Ivanov-Menchov

img412.imageshack.us/img412/6140/k2pcm0010.jpg
With 1500m to go, the Katusha boys reached Efimkin. The winner of the sprint between this three rider is called..

img214.imageshack.us/img214/5613/k2pcm0011.jpg
...Alexandr Kolobnev, who dominated the sprint against the exhausted Efimkin and Ignatiev.

Ivan Rovny finished fourth, 2 minutes behind Kolobnev. Way better result than I expected, good work Ivan!

Depart with 31 rider.

img137.imageshack.us/img137/4479/k2pcm0003.jpg
Well, it was not exactly the plan to break away, but as always at national championships with few riders, the peloton splits in several groups, so with 98km to the finish, we saw Andriy Grivko, Yaroslav Popovych and Yuriy Agarkov in front.
Popovych, Grivko, Agarkov;
+1'37" Buts, Gustov, Khalilov, Kostyuk;
+3'15" Group Pidgornyy-Chuzhda

img198.imageshack.us/img198/9122/k2pcm0004.jpg
Agarkov was way weaker than Grivko and Popovych and was not able to hold contact with them. The race was getting crazier, after dropping Agarkov, Grivko attacked at almost every little hill on the road! Did not make much sense at all, because Popovych always chased him down, but if he wants to waste his energy...
Popovych, Grivko;
+3'15" Agarkov;
+3'53" Buts, Gustov, Khalilov, Kostyuk;
+6'59" Pidgornyy, Kvachuk, Chuzhda

img830.imageshack.us/img830/7700/k2pcm0005g.jpg
Another example of senseless attacking from Grivko...
Popovych, Grivko;
+3'53" Agarkov, Buts, Gustov, Khalilov, Kostyuk;
+7'14" Pidgornyy, Kvachuk, Chuzhda

img155.imageshack.us/img155/9694/k2pcm0006.jpg
As it seems, Grivko still have much to learn. After another senseless attack, he finally was dead and not able to follow Popovych anymore... With still 32km to go, its almost sure that Yaroslav is todays winner...
Popovych;
+20" Grivko;
+4'25" Khalilov, Gustov, Buts;

BOTD consists of some unknown rider like Alejandro Marque (Palmeiras), Mikel Landa (Orbea), David Bernabéu (Barbot), Rubén García (Caja Rujal), Pascual Orengo (Burgos), but also of some important riders like José Ángel Gómez Marchante (Andalucia) or José Luis Rubiera (RadioShack).

Chechu greets to his fans.

img836.imageshack.us/img836/5765/k2pcm0032.jpg
But no breakaway victory in Spain, with 10km to the finish, the escapees are caught. So a mass sprint today!

img714.imageshack.us/img714/2623/k2pcm0034.jpg
Under the Flame Rouge, we saw Óscar Freire in front, with Rojas at his backwheel. Florencio, Sánchez and Fernández at the right.

img404.imageshack.us/img404/2595/k2pcm0035.jpg
But nobody was able to beat Óscar, nice to see that he is still in a great shape, even after a hard Giro. He won ahead of Rojas and Zaballa.

Depart.

img607.imageshack.us/img607/2259/k2pcm0005.jpg
3 escapees today, Maxim Debusschere (An Post), Igor Abakoumov (ISD Continental) and Benjamin Gourgue (Landbouwkrediet).

img11.imageshack.us/img11/9694/k2pcm0006.jpg
Dominique Cornu (Skil), Johan Van Summeren (Garmin), Kristof Vandewalle (Topsport), Kevyn Ista (Cofidis) and Sibrecht Pieters (Jong Vlaanderen) joined them later.

15km to go. While there are still some escapees in front, we saw the first attacks in the pack, from De Weert, Monfort and Van den Broeck!

But with 5km to go, the peloton was in front again. Pity that no RadioShack rider made it into the front group...

img291.imageshack.us/img291/9181/k2pcm0009d.jpg
Philippe Gilbert knowed that he has no chance against Boonen in a sprint, so he accelerated with 3000m to the finish!

He was still ahead under the Flame Rouge...

...and wins this race! Strange sprint, as we saw Monfort, Vandewalle, Ista and Pieters beating Boonen...

Depart.

img716.imageshack.us/img716/2259/k2pcm0005.jpg
Only one brave escapee today: Sergej Fuchs from Nutrixxion Sparkasse.

img573.imageshack.us/img573/9694/k2pcm0006.jpg
Espescially Milram worked hard for gaining ground on Fuchs, and surprisingly even Knees and Gerdemann are wasting energy. It seems that Milram is focused on Wegmann..

img23.imageshack.us/img23/9626/k2pcm0007r.jpg
Poor Fuchs, with 22km to go, the Peloton, consisting of 16 riders, caught him.

img811.imageshack.us/img811/5046/k2pcm0008.jpg
First move from Tony Martin with only 6000m left, Andreas Klöden tried to follow...

img204.imageshack.us/img204/3518/k2pcm0009l.jpg
But both were caught. So a sprint out of a bigger group. Jens Voigt in front, with Klöden at his backwheel. Martin third and some Milram rider behind him.

img222.imageshack.us/img222/6140/k2pcm0010.jpg
500m to the finish, Klöden makes his move out of Voigts slipstream...

img546.imageshack.us/img546/5613/k2pcm0011.jpg
And Andreas Klöden wins! Clearly the strongest sprinter in this group and a great 8th national jersey for RadioShack!

With 70km to the finish, 13 rider were in front. Except Spilak, all favourites are there.
Peloton;
+3'32" Mahoric, Bozic, Spilak, Ilesic, Fajt

img546.imageshack.us/img546/2673/k2pcm0020r.jpg
Bole and Stangelj upped the pace and only Brajkovic was able to follow. With 20km to go, Bole and Stangelj accelerated!
Bole, Stangelj, Brajkovic;
+43" Murn, Kump, Koren, Gorenc, Kocjan, Golcer;
+2'25" Group Spilak-Bozic

img27.imageshack.us/img27/2884/k2pcm0021n.jpg
Brajkovic caught them, and directly the next attack from Bole, and only Stangelj was able to follow him...

img822.imageshack.us/img822/7900/k2pcm0022.jpg
.. so with 3km to go, Brajkovic only can watch Bole and Stangelj sprinting for the victory...

img820.imageshack.us/img820/4083/k2pcm0023.jpg
And thats a clear victory for Grega Bole!

img233.imageshack.us/img233/4694/k2pcm0024.jpg
Of course a third is not that bad, but to be honest, we expected another victory here Sad

Overview over the championship results and the preview to the Tour de France follows tomorrow!

roturn
Shame in Slovenia, but Klöden did great against all these riders. Especially Wegmann and Klemme are better spritners, but obviously too exhausted.
Like the screenshot when Martin attacks and Klöden follows.

Kloden!! Great win! Bad you couldn't get the win with Brajkovic, he also had a bad daily form (-2). Anyway 8 championships is awesome Grin

Edit: oh yeah, and forgot, Hushovd is not Norwegian champion!! YES!!
