Being dominant across the whole season must have taken its toil, obviously along with the crashes, timelosses etc. Seems like he just isnt made for it. If he still is in it, I expect a try on Daone or Mortirolo the following days, but I really doubt it....
Best thing for Porte to do with his future is leave Sky, I think a different environment with a team that actually is tactically strong (which sky isn't) would do him well, aim at 1 week stage races and go into GT's with less pressure
Yeah like Orica or BMC? Though they're not the best tactically, too, but they should be nice environments for him. |

Would be great teams IMO. Orica obviously have the Yates brothers, but I dont expect any big GC-results of them in TdF this year - maybe next, but would also be a bit of a stretch considering the GC-talent atm. BMC have Van Garderen, but Im not really sold on him - sometimes, he is great, but he isnt exactly consistent.. |

I actually think Orica are pretty good tactically and they do have a good team environment without the BS like the campervan, BMC are okay but don't think that would be the best move but if Van Garderan has a bad Tour this year then that changes things a little bit. I am almost certain he leaves Sky at the end of this season

Great TT from VDB, it seems he improved massively on this area. Let's see how he takes the longer mountains, but normaly he can take a 3rd week better then Amador and Uran. Time for his first (confirmed) GC podium? Though it's ll really really close still.
Contador superb. Only Aru is a slight thread and he looked toast as well. Maybe he can already look forward to TDF and just follow Aru.
And to bad for Vandewalle, he could've been close here.

Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Are you okay Shonak or have you passed out with excitement?
I actually fell asleep afterwards, watching Giro Extra
Contador's ride was incredible but I expected from him to do well here in this TT already at the start of second week. Aru is still a threat though, if Astana use their climbing prowess well it can become very dangerous. But Contador is an one-man army and he should be able to control this 2 minute lead. What worries me: Contador has already crashed twice in this Giro so that's another thing he'll have to pay attention to in third week and avoid at all cost. I hope he takes stage win tomorrow and can then just follow wheels.
So, who can threat Uran Uran for third place? Don't think Amador will be up to holding third in last week at all, but maybe VDB2.0 gets some climbing strength of old and I think König could actually make a late surge for the podium now that SKY will ride for him. I hope Landa will keep his stunning form of first week and that he makes the best ouf of today's loss. Podium is still within reach, I'm sure he'll attack now and then.

Kinda expected what happened today with Contador, amazing performance, I kinda feel bad for Aru, he is still young but he is a great rider. I wanted it to be more close to see more attacks on the next stages of mountain although there will be a huge fight for the podium i think ( I don´t expect a fight for the 1st position to be honest after what happened today), pretty interesting Giro overall, I´m liking it.
I wish Porte performed better though, he is doing terribly this Giro.

But if Porte leaves Sky, he will have to ride without the advantages of their marginal gains.

Amazing TT from Bertie. Every day I'm more convinced the dislocated shoulder story was a massive bluff. Good TT from VDB and dissapointing from Uran and very dissapointing Cataldo. He used to be very good in TT |

Stage honours depends on who is prepared to go full out for the win - someone like Kiryienka would be a decent shout if they went for it but I'm not sure.
Was out this afternoon so missed the stage - I come back home and look at the results... Such a crazy TT; some major WTF moments everywhere: Kruijswijk top 5 in a TT, Porte slower than Nieve (like literally what even is this), a random Bulgarian dude I've never heard of beating Uran, Betancur > Zakarin in the battle of awesomeness. I mean we've seen it all now!
Really glad that Kiryienka was able to take the win (have I mentioned before that he was a beast somewhere? Yes? Indeed he is just pure 100% beast), today was clearly a day for the strong men and who stronger than he? Such a shame he rides for Sky.
Also I officially <3 Amador. This guy can win Giro mountain stages, top 10 Gent Wevelgem, beat Cancellara in prologues and he was 5th in that murderous TT up the Flumserberg in Switzerland 2 years ago, despite spending most of his time as a loyal Movistar domestique. Is there anything this guy can't do when given the opportunity?

Bertie will mock them when real mountains starting..
only opponent will be Astana team..specially Landa.
and please stop that cliche that Porte is not GT rider..he can be. I remember when he waited Froome at the mounatins.
It is just un natural that Paris-Nice ..march/ april top form rider can last also Giro 3 weeks.
Also Giro weather..beside so called hi tech training/ equipment. Sky should start train also in rain.

I'm saying it now. I'm in love with this Giro. For me, it's the best GT I've ever seen, honest.
Second best was the awesome Vuelta fight between Valverde, Rodriguez and Contador, of course! |

Impressively he seems to have managed to have DNF'd 7 consecutive races earlier this season.

Porte always finds a way to avoid the podium, and in that regard he's started well.
I'm confused by this statement, what do you mean by it? The guy wins races or are you talking about GT's? If that's the case this it's an even more confusing statement. He has led a team in a GT once, in last years TDF whilst out of condition and in horrible form after his team leader dropped out of the race 5 stages in. I'm no Porte fan but think this is a bit harsh
My point was that he's no GT rider. He's 30 and has zero results from GTs (the 7th with a 12 min headstart was not impressive). He's a luxury variant of Simon Spilak.
On today's stage, I agree with Oleg Tinkov, why is anyone surprised? Contador is in another league to these guys.
I'm very surprised by Kruijswijk and Felline's performances, and to some extent Hesjedal and VDB2, but we know the latter recovers well. The last week will be interesting for the minor places. Landa has a decent shot on the podium with the other contenders messing up today, and I think Aru is certain for 2nd now. Will be interesting to see how Uran recovers from today, he was far below expectations. Now I want to see Amador cling on to that top5!

Contador show his best side today. I will be very, very dissapointed if he lose his jersey. He's a main favourite right now , but.... bad things happened |

I fully understand your point with Porte but the only thing I will will say is that I would like to see what he could do on another team, Sky are good on the sport science side of the sport but horrible on the rest. I think he could win possibly when a GT but not with Sky and also not one with all the big GT contenders competing in top shape.
Kruiswijk has been a pleasant surprise and Lotto Jumbo are lucky he is here, hopefully he can get out on the attack in the final week and bag a stage win or even have a go at the KOM jersey, not surprised with Felline's effort, he is good against the clock and also the earlier guys had the better conditions yesterday so that also helped.
