@roturn
Shame that this happend on the most important stage of the whole stage race... As you can see below, Maxime Bouet still did not sign any contract with AG2R, so we might have success and sign him
@Alakagon
Thanks Would be great to see a similar result in France, but I am sure that the can even finish with 5 rider in the Top10 there (Paulinho )
@tsmoha
Thank you I agree, its a nice result for Martin. Would be great if he wins the youth jersey in France as well.
@lluuiiggii
Thanks I agree, and I do not see any way to beat him at the Tour de France
25. June
Interesting news on the transfer market:
1. Androni Giocattoli seemed not to be really happy with Francesco Ginanni and only offered him a reduced contract. Against all expectations, Ginanni agreed to lose his status as leader and will honour his contract until 2012.
2. Philippe Gilbert will definitely NOT sign a new contract with Omega Pharma. (No, we will not sign him)
A "little" overview over all rider which already signed a new contract:
As you can see, Markus Eibegger and Eros Capecchi are already signed for Footon, Maxime Bouet not
An interesting interview with Fränk Schleck:
Seems that he is not much interested in helping his brother in France... But it is an explanation for his weak performance at the Tour of Switzerland.
Surprisingly young Jonathan Castroviejo takes the lead from him - 50'29" (after the race, I saw that his contract expired, I think he would be a good transfer...)
Neither Haimar Zubeldia nor Markel Irizar were in shape, so no surprise that they only finished with 52'37" (Zubeldia) and 52'23" (Irizar).
Carlos Sastre with an amazing ride, six seconds faster than Castroviejo - 50'24"!
Now the real favourites, first Luis León Sánchez. Not very surprising that he makes the new besttime, 16 seconds faster than Sastre.
Samuel Sánchez already beats his time by incredible 38 seconds, 49'29". And only one opponent left, Alberto Contador...
...who showed again that he is in a great shape, beating SSánchez time by 76 seconds.
First mentionable time cames from Jurgen Van de Walle - 1h09'34"
Gilbert is a time trialer? It seems so, he was 8 seconds faster than Van de Walle - 1h09'26"
Dominique Cornu was strong today and easily made the new besttime - 1h08'41", while Sébastien Rosseler completely failed his goal for today - 1h12'07" (to be honest, his shape was 58)
Maxime Monfort already convinced in Switzerland, and of corse he was the strongest today, beating Cornus time by 62 seconds - 1h07'39"
1.) Koos Moerenhout (Rabobank) 54'53"
2.) Jos Van Emden (Rabobank) +21"
3.) Lieuwe Westra (Vacansoleil) +1'04"
Question:
Knowing that we are all waiting for Le Tour, I should perhaps make the reports in less detail? What do you think?Edited by janne_837 on 24-01-2011 22:07
Thank you, I still will make some detailed reports, but only for the really important champs where we actually have a chance to make a good result (America, Ukraine, Germany).
Sorry for no updates today, I already played another, but I only want to post more races at one piece. But I can already announce that we won at least one national ITT championship
Dave Zabriskie was not as strong as usual, but nonetheless his time was not bad - 1h12'58"
Chris Horner was a bit disappointing today, I expected more than a 1h14'25"
In past times, the fight against the clock was one of his greatest abilities... And Lance showed some of the old glory today (daily form +5)! 93 seconds faster than Dave, new besttime - 1h11'25"
George Hincapie was no opponent for Armstrong, but Big George was 2 seconds faster than Zabriskie, and thats a surprise - 1h12'56"
Christian Vande Velde was probably the biggest opponent for today, and 38 seconds slower than Lance 1h12'03"
After Christian finished, we already had the victory. But who will be the winner, Armstrong or Leipheimer? Compared with Lance, Levi had a really bad day today and was 49 seconds slower than Lance. THATS THE FIRST VICTORY 2010 FOR LANCE ARMSTRONG!

2. B.Grabsch
3. A.Greipel
4. P.Gretsch
5. M.Sieberg

11. A.Klöden
Bert Grabsch, a former world-champ against the clock and of course a favourite for today, was not as good as expected. Nonetheless a decent time from him - 44'18"
Jens Voigt and Linus Gerdemann finished with very similar times, Linus 25 seconds behind Grabsch, Jens 31 seconds behind Grabsch.
Andreas Klöden (and Jens Voigt again in the background) was 19 seconds faster than Grabsch - 43'59" - , but as you can see at the next screenshots, thats not enough for the win...
... Tony Martin almost passed Klödi at the road! Tony really was a beast today, it seems that his nice result in Switzerland motivates him a lot. No doubt, Martin is the deserved winner of the german itt championship, 109 seconds ahead Klöden.
Tiago Machado is a pretty good time trialer, but also in a pretty bad shape, so his time was only average - 52'00"
Jose Mendes with a really good time (never heard of him before ) - 51'16"
Even Rui Costa was 16 seconds slower than Mendes - 51'32"
But the top favourite is still coming, Sérgio Paulinho. And even with at a quite bad day (daily form -3), he was able to beat Mendes by 47 seconds. THE SECOND VICTORY AT THE CHAMPS FOR THESHACK!

Mikhail Ignatiev had not a very good day, only 1h05'30"
Ivan Rovny is totally out of shape and would not compete here if he had not too. However, his time was not completely bad, only 29 seconds slower than Ignatiev - 1h05'59"
Except Menchov, Vladimir Karpets was considered as the most biggest favourite for today. But he was not able to fulfill this part, he was 76 seconds faster than Ignatiev, but 27 seconds behind his teammate Evgeni Petrov, who had a fantastic race (I did not took a screenshot of him, who saw this coming...)
Just like in Germany or in Spain, the big favourite won with a gigantic advantage. Menchov was 84 seconds faster than Petrov and wins!

Vitaliy Buts was surprisingly good - 51'31"
Andriy Grivko is probably the only rider here who could be a threat for Popovych, but Andriy even was one second behind Buts - 51'32"
Quite easy third victory at the champs for RadioShack. Yaroslav Popovych dominates the time trial, 73 seconds, faster than the time from Buts and the new ukrainian time trial champ!
Depart (I love this big starting fields at national championships )
Quite strange race. Alexandre Moos (BMC) was the only rider who attacked early. Even with a slow pace, the "peloton" split up in several groups. Moos;
+58" Zahner, Schär, Morabito, Kohler, Frank, Wyss, Elmiger, Rast, Cancellara, Bertogliati, Beuret;
+1'33" Group Albasini-Zaugg
With 40km to go, Moos is caught and Elmiger and Cancellara speed up to thin out the group...
...And only Laurent Beuret was able to keep up with them. Gregory Rast and the BMC guys were dropped. Cancellara, Beuret, Elmiger;
+46" Rast;
+1'08" Morabito, Zahner, Frank, Kohler, Moos, Bertogliati, Schär, Wyss;
+3'12" Group Albasini-Zaugg
2km to the line, its clear that one of this three rider will take the victory. But who?
Though Laurent Beuret is the better sprinter on the paper, it was Fabian Cancellara who takes the victory and the double at the Swiss Championships!
Disappointing 10th place for Rast.

Breakaway: Next to unknown rider as Tyler Wren (Jamis), Morgan Schmitt (UniteddHealthcare), Edward King (Cervélo), John Murphy (BMC), Charles Bradley Huff (Jelly Belly) and Ken Hanson (Team Type 1), we saw two american future greats here: Taylor Phinney (Trek Livestrong U23) and Tejay Van Garderen (Colombia)!
Phinney and Van Garderen were clearly the strongest at the front group and dropped the other with 67km to go.
But with 33km to the finish, they were caught. Due to the high pace which were set by Garmin, only six rider left: Tom Danielson and David Zabriskie (Garmin), George Hincapie (BMC) and Chris Horner, Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack)!
And with 8km to go, Chris Horner, who felt amazing today, attacked. Armstrong tried to follow, but no chance to follow "The Smiler" today.
Totally deserved victory for Chris Horner, the american road champion 2010!
Lance showed that he is ready for the Tour, with a nice second place!
Tom Danielson finished third, beating Leipheimer in the one-on-one sprint.
