They need that time for TT on Froome. But surprised that Froome could not respond. Valverde was playing team game. I think he could have gone up to Quintana if needed.
This Vuelta is already showing signs of being the best GT since the Vuelta of 2012. Going to be a great final week if Quintana, Contador and Froome can keep on improving.
Contador was amazing today. From here on out, it's all about him. He will only become stronger.
Good ride by Purito too, going after Contador (basically alone until Vorganov helped him?) and keeping tactical games with Quintana for later.

"It’s a little bit scary when Contador attacks." - Tommy V
Ill just put it on the table, since danish tv apparently dont have the balls to say it: Chris Anker and Hernandez are horrible. Especially Chris Anker, since he doesn't contribute with anything else, in contrary to Hernandez who is Contador's best friend. If he isn't among the best on the climbs, there is absolutely no point in bringing him to the Vuelta. Oh, the whether, little winds on the foot of the climb, slippery descent... cut the crap. Contador is alone and only Zaugg is respectable on climbs on this team. Would be sad to see Contador isolated and basically losing because of his team, like Dauphine. Bennati and Tosatto, after all, can't be expected to do all the heavy lifting on this team.
Oh well, just needed to put it out there. I soon hope danish tele to remove their fingers from Chris Anker's butthole, because he needs to step up his game. For Contador and his own sake.
Froome will take the leaders jersey after the rest day, and then he will have to defend like a mad man against the likes of Contador, Quintana and by the looks of it Rodriquez as well.
A shame that Rodriquez will be around 2 min after Froome, Quintana and Contador when they have riden the TT. Really a bad route for him

Word.
Zaugg did really well actually, but Hernandez, Chris Anker and Paulinho i feel like as well, simply didn't do their job today - It's that simple
Dan did better than I expected. Excluding guys that are no threat in GC, he gained time on all but 8 riders today. Maybe the heat excuse wasn't that lame after all and he will finish in the top10 in GC for the first time in GT.
Hesjedal will not win a stage here in that from, I'm afraid.
Funny how he claimed that he was better than in the Giro, and then nowhere to be found on the climb in a relatively mediocre break given the circumstances. He should be able to follow Anacona.
And I feel like he should keep trying to find the right break, as he has done 2 times in a row.

Ryder would be better off helping Dan now. Cardoso dropped at the bottom of the climb and eh was isolated all the way up basically.
I'm not sure Ryder would really be much help for Dan. I'm not convinced he is any stronger than Cardoso here.
Most of the guys are isolated though, when it comes down to the group of the 20-25 strongest riders in mountain. That's cycling. If you would have all teams with GC leaders and domestiques in 25-men group, that would be a 50-men group instead.
