@All
Thank you! Sorry for not updating yesterday, had not any time left...

@lluuiiggii
Why not Grin He did not peak for the Tour of Flanders and finished in the Top30 (in the same group with Gilbert etc.)!

Col du Grand-Cucheron.
This one goes to the breakaway, Davide Malacarne (QuickStep) even attacked to save 20 points (The other in the breakaway: Lorenzo Bernucci from Lampre, Kai Reus from Rabobank and Martin Reimer from Cérvelo). Jérône and surprisingly Mark Cavendish attacked, too, but falled back at the steep section.
This time, we decided to skip the KOM points sprint because we did not wanted to lost to much energy.

The rider reached the Col du Glandon. With 5km to the top, the peloton caught the weak escapees, the true race can begin Smile

img573.imageshack.us/img573/5137/k2pcm0009.jpg
The top. The usual mountain sprint which won Samuel Sánchez ahead of Sandy Casar and Michael Rogers. The pace was high, and even a few favourites were not able to hold on, like Porte, Zabriskie or Fuglsang.

Quite funny. All the rider which sprinted for KOM points at the Glandon (Sánchez, Casar, Rogers, Moreau, Kiserlovski) can not hold contact with the favourites.

Vino asked us to help in the relay work (never had this before^^). We ignored him, seeing that the other do pretty well without us.

La Paute.
Carlos Barredo is a decent climber, but he knowed that he have no chance against the top favourites, so he decided to attack, 16km to go.

Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana) 4
Chris Horner (RadioShack) 2

img267.imageshack.us/img267/8837/k2pcm0013.jpg
Only 2 kilometers later, Christian Vande Velde accelerated, too. It seems that he wants to prevent a direct fight at the climb.
Vande Velde, Barredo;
+16" Vinokourov, Horner, Paulinho, Brajkovic, Danielson, Mollema, Antón
+1'36" Trofimov, Cataldo, Reus;
+2'16" Riblon, Kirchen;

+3'18" Fuglsang, Knees, Löfkvist, El Fares;
+3'34" Peloton.

img835.imageshack.us/img835/6985/k2pcm0014.jpg
The final climb to Alpe d'Huez begins! Barredo falled back soon, but Mollema (must had a fantastic daily form) and Vinokourov caught Vande Velde (Vino and Mollema accelerated really fast without attacking, even with dot 87, my rider could not follow...).
Vande Velde, Mollema, Vinokourov;
+34" Paulinho, Brajkovic, Horner, Antón, Danielson, Barredo;
+1'18" Cataldo, Trofimov, Riblon, Reus;
+1'54" Peloton.

img255.imageshack.us/img255/3799/k2pcm0015.jpg
Vande Velde can not follow Vino and Mollema anymore. Our rider almost closed the gap, but they run out of energy Sad (Maybe you already noticed, but Paulinho was again unlucky with his daily form, while Brajkovic did a good race today). A few movements in the peloton, but only one serious: It seems that Robert Kiserlovski saved all his energy for the final climb, he opened a gap soon and started to hunt Horner.
Vinokourov, Mollema;
+55" Paulinho, Brajkovic, Antón;
+1'52" Horner;
+2'05" Kiserlovski;
+2'36" Rogers, Danielson, Barredo;
+3'14" Group Sánchez-Gesink-Moreau;
+5'28" Group Kirchen-Rodríguez.

img141.imageshack.us/img141/9707/k2pcm0016.jpg
Vinokourov showed his strength today... Even Mollema was not able anymore to follow him, almost a sure solo victory for the kazaak. More behind, Kiserlovski passed Horner and even already reached Antón, Brajkovic and Paulinho.
Vinokourov;
+51" Mollema, Vande Velde;
+1'45" Paulinho, Brajkovic, Antón;
+2'27" Kiserlovski;
+2'58" Horner;
+3'20" Group Sánchez-Gesink-Rogers;
+4'29" Group Porte;
+6'57" Group Rodríguez-Kirchen.

img163.imageshack.us/img163/7869/k2pcm0017.jpg
As expected nobody reached him to the finish.. No doubt that Vino was the strongest today, a deserved victory!

img402.imageshack.us/img402/2237/k2pcm0019.jpg
Vande Velde beats Mollema in sprint for the second, both finished 1'32" behind Vino.

img18.imageshack.us/img18/5540/k2pcm0020.jpg
An amazing Kiserlovski finished fourth (background), +2'30" behind the winner, Brajkovic, Paulinho and Antón 32 seconds later.

img213.imageshack.us/img213/1116/k2pcm0021k.jpg
Samuel Sánchez, John Gadret and Sandy Casar completed the Top10. Horner finished with this group, too.

Vino and surprisinly Vande Velde were way to strong, no chance to attack them today. Paulinho had bad luck with his form and only made an average ride, but Brajkovic surprised and even get one place up in the overall Smile

No chance for overall victory, but I think a 3rd and a 4th place are ok. Tomorrows hilly stage is probably to easy, I do not think that it will change something.

Pity Paulinho's daily form was bad.. anyway 3rd and 4th on GC is still good, fortunately you can mantain this positions =D

janne_837
Agree.. I was a bit disappointed, it looks really good until the final climb... They destroyed us there. At least 3rd and 4th overall Smile I am sure we will maintain this, tomorrows stage is hilly, but to easy for a serious attack..

Forgot to post the other race results:

Stage 2: Ascona - Sierre, 161 km
img829.imageshack.us/img829/683/tourdesuissestage2.jpg
A lot of climbing today. The Simplonpass is to early to see a high pace there, but the climb to Valencon might destroy the sprinter. Who ever wants to win here, need good puncheur skills (so no chance for Steegmans, only average at hilly terrain and missing shape, he will never survive there).

Team goals:
- If he survives, Top 5 (Steegmans)
- No time loss (Armstrong, Leipheimer, Klöden, Popovych)

Favourites:
André Greipel (SP 81, ACC 80, HIL 63)
Allan Davis (SP 79, ACC 82, HIL 71)
Danilo Napolitano (SP 78, ACC 79, HIL 67)
Borut Bozic (SP 78, ACC 78, HIL 68)
Robbie McEwen (SP 78, ACC 79, HIL 63)

My tip:
Allan Davis.

Still good ride with Paulinho and Brajkovic, well done. Good luck in TdS and hope you maintin you top 10 with 4 of your riders.

Back to the race. In Corcapolo, we saw Martin Pedersen (Footon), Lars Petter Nordhaug (Sky), Diego Ulissi (Lampre), Martin Elmiger (AG2R) and Björn Leukemans (Vacansoleil) in front. But still a high pace and much attacking in the peloton.

Oh no. One kilometer before the top, Steegmans and Vaitkus dropped. And as you can see, their group wsa not able to come back at the peloton...

img46.imageshack.us/img46/6928/k2pcm0008g.jpg
Rabobank, Katusha, Bbox, Vacansoleil, Omega Pharma, SaxoBank and Astana send a rider to the front to work against the breakaway. Good job, with 33km left, the escapees are away with only 1'21.

img832.imageshack.us/img832/9332/k2pcm0009x.jpg
With 17km to go, the breakaway was caught.

The sprinters (Except Napolitano!!!) are still in the back of the peloton, it seems that the final kilometers were to hilly for them. Lance (Why he got such a good daily form on a flat stage :/) felt great, so he decided to pull away at the last hill before the finish. Only with average success...

img249.imageshack.us/img249/9766/k2pcm0012.jpg
The final sprint. Only two real sprinter are in front, Mauro Finetto and surprisingly Danilo Napolitano (Do not expect him surviving this course). Popovych, who already showed some great sprints in California, is right behind Napo. Armstrong got caught, but joined the sprint in hope for a Top10.

img440.imageshack.us/img440/8837/k2pcm0013.jpg
1000m left. Mauro Finetto was a great lead-out, he pulled Napolitano and Popovych away from the peloton. And with the finishing line in sight, Popovych accelerates out of the slipstream!

img197.imageshack.us/img197/6985/k2pcm0014.jpg
But without success. As he overtook Napolitano at the right, the sicilian decided to counter. With an amazing speed, he passed Finetto at the left side and goes for the victory...

img717.imageshack.us/img717/3799/k2pcm0015.jpg
Danilo Napolitano wins todays stage! Totally deserved victory, he survived all the climbs and showed his sprint abilities! Popo finished third, another great sprint result for him!

img214.imageshack.us/img214/9707/k2pcm0016.jpg
Lance even wins the sprint for the fourth, so a second Top10 for us today Smile

Great 4th and 5th! Things started great in Suisse, with 4 Top Tens in stage 1 and more 2 on stage 2 Grin

janne_837
Thank you Smile It seems that our rider already have a good shape, I am looking forward to the mountains...

Critérium du Dauphiné
Stage 7: Allevard-les-Bains – Sallanches, 172,2 km
img218.imageshack.us/img218/912/dauphinstage7.jpg
The final stage of the Dauphiné is not an easy one, but we do not expect further changes in the overall. It will be a stage for rider like Dumoulin or Sagan, which are able to survive the Côte de Domancy and to show the their good sorint abilities.

Team goals:
- No time loss (Paulinho, Brajkovic, Horner)

Favourites:
Samuel Dumoulin (HIL 71, SP 76, ACC 75)
Peter Sagan (HIL 77, SP 74, ACC 77)
Geraint Thomas (HIL 73, SP 75, ACC 74)
Anthony Geslin (HIL 75, SP 75, ACC 70)
Mirco Lorenzetto (HIL 73, SP 77, ACC 75)

My tip:
Peter Sagen developed into an excellent puncheur and should have no problems to stay in the front group...

Alakagom
Great stage for you, hopefully your great performance will follow in TdF Smile

FreitasPCM
Keep Paulinho in the podium is the main target. Pfft

@Alakagon
Would be great Grin Will be an interesting tour. I wonder if Vinokourov will really work for Contador... He showed that he is good enough to be leader himself...

@FreitasPCM
Yes.. But we failed:

Yes, it is the mountain jersey who was in the lead at the first cross over the Côte de Domancy. How did this happend?
At the Côte des Rafforts, he attacked (as usual) for defending the jersey. But this time, he decided to go away, with 105km to go! The peloton was not able to react in time, as we could saw that he want to get away he already was one minute in front. Seems that he wants to risk all... On the way to the Côte des Rafforts, he even passed the early group.

Third crossing and second KOM sprint of the Côte de Domancy.
Sánchez is a really dangerous threat, but with only 3 rider (Paulinho, Brajkovic and Horner), we are not able to make a high pace in the peloton. And it seems that Astana, Garmin etc. did not had any interest in working against him...

The last crossing over the Côte de Domancy. Sánchez has to fight now, he lost his advantage with every move of the pedal, but to be honest - he is to far away, without a crash or a puncture, he is already the sure winner.

Maybe it is Paulinhos destiny to finish 4th, a result he already had at the Giro d'Italia...I do not know if I should be happy or sad with this result... Brajkovic was not able to win like irl, but a fifth is already a big success for him, he showed why he will lead our squad at the Vuelta a Espana.

@All readers
Sorry that I again failed to make a podium with Paulinho Sad

But still a good team result with your riders.
4/5 aren`t bad at all.

I agree, your team is the strongest

tsmoha
Agree with roturn. Still a good result. Sanchez was simply too strong in this stage.

Thank you all Smile Seems that Team RadioShack always wins the team classification but never completes their goals for individual riders... I think the points classification showed that Sérgio Paulinho was stronger than a 4th Sad It was his last chance to get a podium in a stage race 2010...

14. June
Tour de Suisse
Stage 3: Sierre - Schwarzenburg, 204,5 km
img152.imageshack.us/img152/586/tourdesuissestage3.jpg
Hilly stage, with another big climb (Col des Mosses) halfway down, like yesterday. Really interesting will be the last 30 kilometers, several hills before the uphill finish to Schwarzenburg. Can not imagine that any of the favourites will lost much time, but it is a good chance to gaining time with the bonifications at the finish.

Team goals:
- Top 5 / No time loss (Popovych, Armstrong, Leipheimer, Klöden)

Favourites:
Fränk Schleck (HIL 81, RES 74, STA 78)
Cadel Evans (HIL 81, RES 79, STA 76)
Andy Schleck (HIL 81, RES 78, STA 81)
Alberto Contador (HIL 79, RES 79, STA 75)
Philippe Gilbert (HIL 83, RES 76, STA 81)

My tip:
Fränk Schleck, like irl.

We are getting into the interesting phase of todays stage, the rider hit Kalchstätten. We had some problems to getting water to our top rider. Vaitkus failed, so we had to call Muravyev back, and he was not successfull, too (And Armstrong lost his helper...)

Alberto Contador, Andy Schleck and Philippe Gilbert accelerated, 7,3km to go. But again no chance for any attacker, Rabobank hold the pace high and caught them soon.

img404.imageshack.us/img404/1577/k2pcm0010y.jpg
3,3km to go. The escapees are almost caught, and with them in sight, Menchov wanted to show why his team worked for him the whole stage. But just as all attacker before, he was not able to get away. Popovych, Armstrong and Leipheimer kept a high pace and made Menchov never got away.

img706.imageshack.us/img706/5613/k2pcm0011.jpg
1,4km to go, the finish is in sight and the final sprint starts. Denis Menchov still in front, but maybe exhausted from his attack. Andy Schleck, Levi, Lance and Popo lead the peloton. Bad news from behind: Klödi has problems to hold contact with the front group...

img204.imageshack.us/img204/9766/k2pcm0012.jpg
Menchov still in leading position, but Popovych and Evans come with highspeed from behind. Levi on 4th, Andy 5th, Lance 6th... Klödi still in the group...

img717.imageshack.us/img717/8837/k2pcm0013.jpg
Cadel Evans wins the uphillsprint and the stage! Popovych passed Menchov, too, and finished second (Another great result for him!), whle Menchov was able to stay 3rd. Monfort 4th (it seems that he read some parts of the Colombia story from batista_15 and that he knows now what he is able to do, another amazing performance from him), Leipheimer 7th. Armstrong finished 12th, one place ahead of Alberto Contador, and fulfilled another well result for TheShack in Switzerland.
Only one drop of bitterness: Andreas Klöden lost contact with the front group and finished 46th, 49 seconds later than Evans. But he was not the only one from the favourites, Sastre lost 49 seconds as well, Arroyo even 3 minutes and 55 seconds.

Again a nice result for us, espescially Popovych with his seconld podium. Leipheimer and Armstrong did their job to prevent any time losses, while Klödi lost 50 seconds today. Evans showed today that he is ready for Le Tour important for him to beat Schleck or Contador in a hilly race. Biggest surprise today Monfort, after his nice 5th at the first stage another good result from him.
