You could call Zbigniew Spruch's 2000 season quite impressive, though my knowledge only goes back to the late 90s.
Ryszard Szurkowski won the Peace Race 4 times, when it was the biggest race in Eastern Europe.

Why is this even a classic, it is complete boredom year after year. 500 metres of action and not much of a great action anyway.
They can also drop them under the Mur next year and let them sprint only.
Gilbert went too early and Sagan cooked himself behing him.
Nice 17th for Kreuziger after Amstel, i think he is the top contender for Sunday (proper race, unlike today).
Why is everyone so surprised by Kwiatek? He was doing exactly same things at Tirreno.

Would surprise me cause they started the Mur really slow.

Another source has it @2:48, so I think it's spot on.

I'm going for the Moreno-esque pick of Nocentini |

Ugh. UGH. That's worse than Moreno winning then.
No offense Alak though.

Indeed, not much of a surprise.
Even though he is faaaar from his former level, this finish still suits him perfectly.

Managed to catch the ending (so the whole race really ) on YouTube. But the damn video said that Moreno won in the description.
Was a little surprised to see them let Betancur get such a gap, but it worked out for Moreno in the end. Just think what Dan Martin could have done with a bit of good positioning work.

In defense of Martin, he had a flat on a real bad moment, so he would've been positioned better if that didn't happen |

Garmin should actually support their leaders. When both Hesjedal and Martin have to chase back alone after a flat, something is wrong. Kreder, Stetina and especially Wegmann should have helped them.
Definatly see Martin winning here in the future. (Though beating these Colombians will be hard in the future, for everyone)

I have nothing to say about Kreder or Wegmann, but Stetina was the one who gave Martin his wheel when the latter punctured. After that, it's pretty hard to make it back that late in the race.

Gilbert probably didn't have the legs anyway but Betancur going early seemed to call out Gilbert that bit earlier then he wanted as he saw the gap reaching a race winning margin.
Martin must at least take some confidence into LBL. |
