Now that you went through the Pyramids it's time to read the writings on the wall.
For this Detour you have to translate all 5 hieroglyphics below.
They all relate to land in some way.
PM me back with the five words you believe are written in hieroglyphics.
Time penalties will occur for the following:
1. Each incorrect or missing word. (+100 Minutes)
1. Grass
2. Sand
3. Snow
4. Hills
5. Mountain

We are getting closer to the end with only 5 teams left!
Remember, three teams will get to race to the finish on the final leg.
This leg was won by taking a risk on the flight, it certainly paid off.
For winning the leg they also get $50 added to their bank account.
Close to an hour later the next team arrives.
They outperformed the the team that finish 1st in the Road Block, Transportation, and Detour but couldn't makeup the time they lost on the flight here.
The next team comes to the mat looking depressed after a poor
Transportation and Detour. They are quite surprised to have finished 3rd.
After a miserable Road Block they looked destined for last place.
But this is why you never give up, anything can happen.
For the 2nd time this Race we had a team not complete the leg.
It's sad, but sometimes IRL gets in the way.
Spoiler
Bikex and Bjartne you are the last team to arrive.
I'm sorry to tell you but... I'm not going to save you again this time.
You have been eliminated from the race.
Thanks for participating and I hope you had fun playing.
The 9th leg is finished.
Complete results below. Rest up and tomorrow.

2nd, that is nice, we were kings of the challenges this round, i am even the the fastest hieroglyphs reader.
I feel sorry for Cereal Killers, as it seems they were not able to do the two legs of the game. It was probably because of x-mas time? I really really think that this leg was too close to Christmas and it was not very good move. I dont know how is it in USA, but in Europe people usually celebrate christmas for several days and usually three days are national holiday.
But it was same for everybody, so probably fair.

Phewwww, even after that U-Turn by our dear friends Detour de France we managed to survive, indeed it would have been kinda annoying if Cereal Killers would have survived once again...
And our detour was the fastest if we divide per 2 our time, so I hope that we won't make another big mistake as Road Block was.
Blazing Bakaris look very strong and constant, making them a tough opponent to beat, but we'll try, you can bet it
@Avin, nope I am the fastest!

Always need a bit of luck to win a Leg outright. I couldn't do any of the road block until the 2 free hours were up, but fortunately it was a Maths game and I was the best at it Plus with the transportation I wasn't around much that afternoon so it could easily have taken a couple of hours to stop the clock, rather than 5 minutes.
Hopefully we're nearing a point where all teams are pretty close in all tasks. There's still always seemed to have been at least one team to mess up completely in each leg.

Welcome to the 10th leg of The Amazing Race!
The game clocks are reset and I will give you $10.
Keep track of your own money because if you spend money
you don't have you will incur a 60 minute penalty.
It's time to travel into Europe. Your 8th destination is:
Onto the plane once again. Good Luck and Race Safe!
Air Travel: Alexandria to Venice
Using Amazing Race's official travel sponsorship Travelocity,
You have to find the quickest arriving real-time flight from
the current race location to where you are going.
However, there are two twists.
1. An individual flight accumulates a 30 minute delay for each team on it.
Unless you are the only team on the plane then it arrives at the scheduled time.
For example, Travelocity says flight arrives at destination at 4:00 PM.
However 4 teams chose that exact flight so it will actually arrive at 6:00 PM.
2. Each layover gives a 50% chance of being delayed an extra 15 minutes.
Adds strategy to the game as the first arriving flight might not be the best option. Although it could be your golden ticket if everyone decide to avoid it.
Make sure you chose One-Way, not Round-Trip.
You are booking two adult tickets, you and your partner.
Flights don't take money out our team's bank account.
The airports must be in or near designated departure and arrival cities.
The game clock starts now and stops at the arrival time of the flight.
One team member must PM me with their chosen flight.
A screenshot is needed for verification purposes.
The Road Block will be posted later today.

Sorry, I have been away on different Christmas Parties and the pyramid game was the last game I could manage to do. I guess Bikex had some of the same reasons for not being able to do the Detour. But that's life. We were obviously not deserved winners anyway
Thank you for a great game Mresuperstar! |

Game Clock is Paused for This Road Block
About time we got back to a cycling challenge.
Being in Venice let's discover the cyclists
that have experienced victory here.
For this challenge your team was to PM with cyclists that have
won a stage/race that finished in Venice with a link of proof.
Results can be from any type of professional (not U23) road race:
Grand Tour, Pro Tour, Continental Tour, Worlds, etc.
Rules/Restrictions:
1. You can only use a cyclist once.
2. Must be from 1980 or earlier.
3. The maximum # of results I will allow is 25.
(That way you aren't searching for forever).
If you happen to reach 25 then submit right away,
because tiebreaker goes to who submits first.
You have 12 hours from right now to submit what you find.
Penalty:
+30 Minutes for not mentioning who will do Detour
in the same PM as Road Block submission.
Time:
1st Place | 30 Minutes | 2nd Place | 60 Minutes | 3rd Place | 90 Minutes | 4th Place | 120 Minutes | DNF | 250 Minutes |
Spoiler
Hey, you noticed the spoiler! Act quick, if you dare.
The 2nd and last Fast Forward is in play.
It's available to the first team that completes it.
Win it and your team goes directly to the finish and
get to skip the Road Block, Transportation, and Detour.
Don't get it fast enough and you have wasted your time.
Here's what you have to do:
I will be online for the next 2 hours. If you and your teammate send me
a PM asking to go for the Fast Forward I will send you a riddle to solve.
You need both members to have a realistic chance at solving the riddle.
If I send you the riddle and you complete it but the Fast Forward
has already been taken by another team you get a 60 minute penalty
since the Game Clock is not running for this Road Block.
This Fast Forward is open for 2 hours then is over.

Leg #10: Venice
Transportation - Row, Row, Row Your Boat.
This transportation is a traditional transportation down the canal.
This transportation is simple. Post a picture of an Italian that won the Giro d'Italia (can't be repeat of another teams) and you get on the canal.
Must be done by both team members!
1st: 60 Minutes / 2nd: 120 Minutes / 3rd: 180 Minutes
Once completed this concludes Game Day 2 of the 10th Leg.
A brief overview of where your team stands on time will be posted
before I send out the Detour challenges by PM tomorrow.
Detour choices to be sent out in a few hours.
