Critérium du Dauphiné
Stage 1: Evian-les-Bains - Saint-Laurent-du-Pont, 186,6 km
img832.imageshack.us/img832/4773/dauphinstage1.gif
An interesting stage. It is not impossible that we will see a bunch sprint, but to be honest, the Côte de Miribel-les-Echelles will be too hard for the pure sprinters. Maybe even a few rider will attack at the last climb, in hope for the stage win and maybe the leader jersey. But probably, the decision will fall in a sprint of the small peloton.

Team goals:
- Top10 (Rast)
- No time loss (Brajkovic, Paulinho, Horner)

Favourites:
Peter Sagan (HIL 77, SP 74)
Heinrich Haussler (HIL 75, SP 79)
Anthony Geslin (HIL 75, SP 75)
Mirco Lorenzetto (HIL 73, SP 77)
Samuel Sánchez (HIL 81, SP 67)

My tip:
Heinrich Haussler developed into a pretty strong puncheur, and his sprint abilities are well-known. He will win today.

Astana, Liquigas and Francaise des Jeux make the pack gaining ground on the front group. 130 rider left in the peloton, Mark Cavendish, Tyler Farrar and Fabian Cancellara are already missing. Sam Bewley only miss because he had a bad crash on the downhill from the Côte de Chilly.

38,1 km to go, and the escapees still have an advantage of 4'13"! Looks good for them, but there is still a long way to go.

8,8km to go. It is almost sure that one of the breakaway will win today, and Paul Voss, if he can hold on at the last climb, will conquer the leader jersey.

The peloton reached the final climb, the Côte de Miribel-les-Échelles. With 800m to the top, Alexandre Vinokourov decided to attack. Anthony Geslin, Robert Kiserlovski and Sérgio Paulinho (I love this green jersey Smile) followed him immediately, but just as in California last month, Vino accelerated fast and already opened a quite big gap, no chance for the other three to reach him.

The descent from the Côte de Miribel-les-Échelles, except the breakaway, only Alexandre Vinokourov is still in front. Will he achieve a time gain even on this "easy" stage?

The escapees reach the last kilometer and start to sprint. Malacarne in front, but Bakelandts at the left is the better sprinter...

...and takes the stage win ahead of Paul Voss and Davide Malacarne.

img638.imageshack.us/img638/3799/k2pcm0015.jpg
The peloton comes in. Thanks to Anthony Geslin, who closed the gap between the pack and Vino, they all get the same time as Marcel Sieberg. Best Shack-rider today is again Sérgio Paulinho (maybe you see him in his green jersey and the green helmet), who rolled in as 16th.

As expected, no really changes between the top rider. Only Igor Antón, Co-Leader from Euskaltel and a strong climber, lost 5 minutes (Did not notice that in race, but I guess it is only because he has a weak shape)

A german rider in the yello jersey. Though it is not the one from the Tour de France, it is still nice to see that because it is quite rarely.

No time loss to Vino. Well done.

Paulinho did quite well. But you should watch out for Bakelants and Malacarne. How good are they in climbing?

FreitasPCM
I think both don't show threat for the GC.

I think Bakelandts has 70 and Malacarne 68, but I am not sure.

roturn
Then they shouldn`t be a danger Grin
In my ASO career both have stats between 74-77 in 2nd season.

janne_837
Thanks Smile No, I do not think that they are dangerous, too:

Jan Bakelandts
img205.imageshack.us/img205/3221/janbakelandtsstats.jpg
Quite good allrounder, and espescially strong at hilly terrain. But I do not estimate him as a really threat for the overall.

Davide Malacarne
img84.imageshack.us/img84/8396/davidemalacarnestats.jpg
Almost that good on hills as Bakelandts, but not that good allrounder than the belgian. No threat, too.

Another big name already signed a new contract with his old team. Kim Kirchen signed a new contract with Katusha until 2013.

Geoffrey Lequatre

Still not a really good sprinter, but maybe a leader for small and flat races.

Critérium du Dauphiné
Stage 2: Annonay – Bourg-Saint-Andéol, 177 km
img808.imageshack.us/img808/1587/dauphinstage2.gif
The only "flat" stage in this years edition. Not to underestimate is the Col du Benas, which will be a hard challenge for the sprinters, espescially if the pack has increased its speed, but with a long downhill and flat 40km, they should be able to come back and be able to fight for the stage win.

Team goals:
- Top 10 (Rast, Lequatre)
- No time loss (Brajkovic, Horner, Paulinho)

Favourites:
Mark Cavendish (SP 84, ACC 85, HIL 67)
Tyler Farrar (SP 82, ACC 76, HIL 66)
Robert Hunter (SP 77, ACC 75, HIL 68)
Daniele Bennati (SP 79, ACC 80, HIL 70)
Heinrich Haussler (SP 79, ACC 80, HIL 75)

My tip:
Robert Hunter should still have a pretty good shape, and who cant remember his great sprints in Italy? I am sure he will win today.

roturn
Thanks for the stats. they are quite different to my career actually.

Good luck with Lequatre, maybe top5.

FreitasPCM
I don't know why, but I think a break will win. Pfft

Sorry, no breakaway Smile

Depart in Annonay.

img143.imageshack.us/img143/3159/k2pcm0002z.jpg
Shortly after the depart, four rider attacked: Nicolas Rousseau (AG2R), Nico Sijmens (Cofidis), Rafael Valls (Footon) and Tom Stamsnijder (Rabobank). They directly came away and at the top of the Côte de Saint Jeure-d'Ay, they already are 1'35" ahead the peloton.

30km left. Thanks to Caisse, Omega Pharma, Lampre, Colombia, FDJ and Garmin, the peloton is gaining ground on the front group. Except Cancellara, all big names which could not keep up at the Benas came back at the downhill.
It starts to rain...

Crash in the peloton! And it hits a team leader, Kim Kirchen from Katusha!

img508.imageshack.us/img508/9766/k2pcm0012.jpg
Another crash, 10km to go! Michael Mørkøv, Fabio Sabatini, Jérôme Pineau AND MARK CAVENDISH are down!
Frustrating for the sprinter from the Isle of Man, who has a pretty bad year until now (Only 3 victories)..

The last escapee get caught with 6km to the line.

img696.imageshack.us/img696/5447/k2pcm0014x.jpg
2,5km to go, the sprint starts. At the left Cytil Gautier, Anthony Geslin and Robert Förster behind him. Next to him Lorenzo Bernucci as lead-out for Micro Lorenzetto, Daniele Bennati and Geoffrey Lequatre (who wanted to show his improvement and was not as tired as Rast) at his backwheel. At the right site Robert Hunter who decided to make his move very early, and Tyler Farrar. Bad luck for the american, hes blocked.

img259.imageshack.us/img259/3799/k2pcm0015.jpg
1300m to the line! Anthony Geslin in the lead, but the french rider already slows down. In the centre Lorenzetto, Bennati and Lequatre still in his slipstream (Seems that Lequatre chose the right backwheel Smile)

img43.imageshack.us/img43/9707/k2pcm0016.jpg
300m to the finish line. Daniele Bennati accelerated out of Lorenzettos slipstream, nobody could counter his move, he is already the sure winner. Behind him the fight between Lequatre, Lorenzwtto and Geslin for the second place.

[img][https://img41.imageshack.us/img41/7869/k2pcm0017.jpg[/img]
Daniele Bennati wins todays stage ahead of Anthony Geslin and Mirco Lorenzetto. Geoffroy Lequatre shows his new sprint abilities with a great 4th.
I am not a real fan of "Let your whole squad sprint", but in hunt for the points jersey, Sérgio Paulinho decided to take part at the final sprint, and surprisingly finished 9th!

img842.imageshack.us/img842/4673/k2pcm0018.jpg
