In respect of velogames I am also done with Landa and Sivakov on my team. I thought also that Bernal will not make it.
However for the race itself its really bad that Landa crashed out. He seemed to be on form. Do we have here another talented climber who for whatever reason (crash, badluck, mistake) will never win a GT? There are some similarities with Richie Porte and maybe Thibault Pinot
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Gesink? I might be biased, but to me it looked like he had way more potential than any of those

I think Igor Anton is another name that comes to mind (2010 Vuelta looked in the bag), but after that crash it was all downhill (despite winning the Zoncolan in 2011). Hey, both are Basque, and I think he could have delivered more than he ever did, though Landa boasts a better palmares. |

I would bet he won't win a GT for sure

Beloki for sure. Take away Armstrong and that crash and he would be up there with the big names of cycling. Assuming his acquittal was correct of course.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Would list none of these current active guys mentioned, especially since for some it is not bad luck but just that 3 weeks of racing gets to them, even if it is the first week - staying on the bike is the first step to win a Grand Tour.
But yeah Beloki for sure. That crash is not the stuff of legends for nothing.

Pinot in 2019 was very close to it...I wouldn't rule out him

I would be happy to be proven wrong (especially because I want to see the French in Paris go berserk when a French wins the Tour) but I think he is done. The guy just cracked after le Tour 2019.

I don't think he will have another chance in any GT, but I was mainly referring to his bad luck on that occasion...unfortunately I will never have the proof, but I'm sure he would have won that TdF without stage 19 crash.

I think so too, he was on the verge. Alas, c'est la vie.

Dombrowski is out of the Giro as well. He's been diagnosed with a concussion. |

From hero to zero in one day... Shame Landa had to pay for it |

It wasn't his fault though. He couldn't have guessed that an obstacle would be in his way when his team-mate changed lanes last second and by that point there was nothing he could do. Just a sad outcomes for everyone in something that could have only been avoided by the organization. |

Sucks to see Dombrowski out. At least he got his win, but on that form it might have been a chance to actually go for the KOM jersey and have a really memorable race.

Pinot reminds me of TJ van Garderen...a huge talent whose body just cant take 3 weeks without failing somewhere. |
