Climbing show for tomorrow in the snow! Roglic, Thomas, Gaudu et al. will be the ones to watch surely as the peloton will go through the Swiss Alps in a roller-coaster stage full of traps, anything can happen.

The final time-trial of the race, a hilly one as it is usual but what will the wind mean for tomorrow? That and those who will be the fastest right here!

Take a look at this year's Giro route! It's one of the hardest in the last few years, backloaded with what will surely be mythical mountain stages, I analyse every stage and what can come from it.

You'll have a race unrolling for 3 weeks, so you need to know who will be the main riders to look out, stage winners, overall contenders, sprinters, etc. All the classifications preview (except teams, that's reserved for tomorrow) for this year's Giro.

I don't see Nibali behind first three contenders, but let see
imo third week is fit for him, He probably wont have same support from his team like was used with Astana when won Giro 2016, but He is one of cleverest rider of last decades, I can never know what expect from him

Oh but he has quite the team with him, teams preview will be up early in tomorrow (but of course you don't need that to see ). Pozzo, Caruso, if they're on their best Bahrain will be beastly aswell.

yes, ok, but with Fuglsang, Scarponi, Kangert, Zeits, Agnoli in the same team was very strong, now, this year he has not a bad team but not at same level, Caruso imo is very good on helping in GTs, Pozzo was not bad leading a team, but never really helpfull domestiquing...Agnoli is 3 years older and not the same as 2016, and I'm not expecting good things from others, maybe the brother Antonio looks hungry of some visibility and seems quite improved at pro level, we will see

Aside from this discussion, just here to say I’m very curious what Valentin Madouas and Fausto Masnada will do. One has freedom to go on breakaways given two thirds of the team is focused on sprint, plus he can be an outsider for those punchy finishes in the first week. The other is in great form and knows how to climb, maybe this year Masnada can aim a top-20 finish and some decent results on breakaway mountain stages, plus it’s the opportunity to show why he deserves a place at Astana for 2020. |

Masnada if he's able to be at his best till the very end I'd really like to see him attacking in those mammooth mountain stages for the breakaway, and resisting in them to get a solid GC, like Siutsou and Atapuma in Giro 2016 (stage 14 if I'm not mistaken).

Madouas and Masnada chat <3
Stage 14 2016 <3<3<3<3<3<3<3
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Here's an in-depth look on every team in the race, their riders and goals and what they might achieve.

Opening stage of the Giro, a short but nasty prologue in Bologne with serious climbing in the mix, one for the GC riders but there's lot to choose from, and also some time-trialists who may be able to be in contention.

This has Primoz Roglic written all over it but I have a weird feeling Yates has a word to say. |

I just can't seem to understand why he is starting so late, literally around 3 hours after almost every GC contender, less time to recover in a race he lost last year due to fatigue, every detail counts here.

While on one hand, I think teams should not try and take advantage of drier conditions and respect scheduled starting times, I think that perhaps it's all about securing the riders' integrity for the first of 21 difficult and stressful days and that may have been in the base of that decision, which I understand.
Then again, both sound very confident, hopefuly not over confident, but Yates' preparation has been quite focused on the Giro, not going full speed until now so he might bargain that. Hopefuly both him and Mitchelton have learnt from mistakes and are conscious that Giro =/= Vuelta. |

I took a look at the difference between a lightweight and a heavyweight rider in the time-trial. Oh and tomorrow, one for the sprinters? I think so, but there are lots of things that can make it a very hard stage.

We have a climber's route in California this week, a big startlist full of sprinting stars and a great race in our hands, check it out!
A flat start to the race, the sprinters will have their saying which means it will come as an exciting opener.

I'm very glad you put Zoidl between favourites though with just a star
I really loved him in his early years, but he never stepped to a good WT level

He was 16th in Romandie, very lowkey but deserves it with the general low form expected of lots of contenders. Would love to see him in the Top10
