Paris - Nice Discussion

Not the worst stage for Schleck, but would have been nice to keep up and close that gap. Will have to see if Van der Lijke can maintain a reasonable Points classification place - don't mind him sprinting at the intermediate there. And nice to see Heymes up to 2nd in the U25 standings.

Well at this point I'm looking forward to returning to the PCT. Amador will still be competitive after his decline, Spengler will be great, and Schelling/Reichenbach can once again be legitimate contenders. Plus I get more control over my schedule, there's less competition, it can be a rebuilding year. Bring it on!

Great stage by Guldhammer! Grin Second place is definitely a good result, especially with the gap given back to the bunch. For the future stages he looks like the weakest GC rider in that front group, and then there's at least Schleck and Amador from behind, but it still means he has put himself in a nice position for at least a top 8 here.

Congratulations Heine on the win. With Lutsenko not sprinting for the win, Taaramäe was the obvious favourite, eventhough Guldhammer looked to be fastest in the final kilometer. Expect to see a Taaramäe show from here and onwards, if not the old man Schleck can't stop him Pfft

Inattentive from Machado. Hopefully bigger gaps will appear in the mountain stages, where we can use our mountain train.

Congrats anyway, Heine. Good win there, just leave something for the rest of us, will you? Pfft

Man, it's still mid-February!

Great performance from T-Mobile! Congrats on the win, Heine.

Looked very good for us, with Van Niekerk in the break and Iturria supporting Martin very good. In the end I clearly had hoped Martin would do better, but guess he just didn't have the legs. Hopefully he can do better and get higher up in the GC.

Really happy with Iturria's performance also. Don't expect him to keep his 18th place in the GC, but hopefully he can be inside the top 25. Not so good from Stake Laengen, but oh well.

That performance doesn't really deserve an elaborate comment.

Yeah. Morton sucks here. Great stuff.

Thanks for the epic report though!

Really thrilling report Aquarius. If only the T-mobile boys weren't so lazy, they could have pulled Amador into 2nd with that move on the first climb.

But congrats once again to Heine and SN for likely pulling away win the win and podium. Ember as well for Guldhammer's exceptional riding. A stage podium for Amador brightens my mood a little but I'm still disappointed to see he's riding worst of the best here.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw Gesink lose contact with the front men. Fortunately Bartl was there to do a great job and to relocate Gesink as close to the front as possible. I hope this has only been a less good day for him and that the rest of the race will run better, the duo from the front is from another planet and are impossible to reach so we have to fight to hold this third place.

Too bad that Chiarello had a bad day and lost a lot of time, but fortunately the big day of Bartl allowed him to climb to 15th place that will be difficult to hold but would be great if it were possible to finish in that position

Taaramäe is on another level and the victory seems delivered, congratulations to T-Mobile

Good effort by Fabbro, but not good enough from Chamorro and especially Vasyliv. 30th and 40th in the GC is a horrible result.

Wow, Guldhammer being among the protagonists on such a mountain stage was already more than I could hope for Smile Thrilling read, and a great stage by him.

Now sixth place overall looks like a very realistic goal. Can't see him keep Tenorio and Amador behind with another mountain stage and the MTT left, but I' d say he's favourite for 6th place and keep all the others behind as it stands now. There's also another hilly stage looming where he could gain time agian, if it doesn't come down to a sprint at least.

Thank you for a brilliant report, Aquarius97! Some proper racing there, initiated by T-Mobile, and I suspect also the next mountain stage will be brutal, eventhough the profile doesn't look that difficult. But having Taaramäe here pretty much guarantees early action, I feel. Congratulations on the win, Heine. Taaramäe show it definitely is Smile

Thanks for the report Aquarius, a lot to cover. Taaramae reverses the positions from two years ago, would have been sweet to see Schleck sneak past at the end, as it's hard to see Taaramae being stopped for the GC this year.

Good stage though. Heymes really stepping up in support, taking the role expected for Goos, and then keeping it going for an U25 lead now is cool. Won't be easy to keep ahead of Vasyliv and Schir there. Nice to be up there in all the classifications though!

Taaramae winning is just like it should be in this field, but the way he wins after a fantastic team effort. I feel that my investment in domestiques for him pays off, a great lead in the team classification and exciting racing from the team. I love it!

Hopefully we will continue to do well and clinch this for Rein

Glad with a reasonable result with Machado up to 7th and Reis in 12th.
Not too pleased with the performance though. T-Mobile broke off in a fashion I'd hope we could mimic. We didn't participate in the chase either. We need teamwork in order to succed as a climbing team, otherwise we will suffer.

Anyway, congrats Heine. It seems appropriate that you send your candidacy notice to respond to Ponzi's victory in Italy!

Schleck still the class act too.

Fun to see us chase and do lots of work, eventhough we really shouldn't looking at the other GC riders here. With Taaramäe and Schleck here, it was never going to be an easy stage and a sprint for a small group, but still think Guldhammer fought well.

Though, brilliant performances of both Hirt and Machado, which means 8th and not 6th looks like the likely GC result here. I'll still take it with a smile, eventhough it looked even better before this stage Pfft

And congratulations to Buschwackers on the stage, maybe giving Amador some slack for not performing that overall podium that could be expected from him pre-race.

Really hope the hilly stage proves selective, but I honestly doubt it, especially coming this late, as anything but another breakaway win will be a surprise. Would be cool to see Hagen joining it, but our team hasn't really been a breakaway team for the whole 2017 season and not from the start this season, so I'm not too hopeful.

Another horrible result by Chamorro and Vasyliv. Both WELL below what was to be expected, and neither are giving a fuck about attacking either.

Not really good, with Martin going nowhere in GC and Iturria dropping a lot of places. Fingers crossed for a couple of better results the next days, but not overly optimistic...

tsmoha
A pity Baylay had no chance to fight for the KoM, would have been awesome to have two shirts from T-A and P-N Wink anyway, happy he's attacking early and a Top-10 in the stage isn't too bad after all. He's better than Morton LOL Grin

SportingNonsense
Teklehaimanot with a good ride, pity he couldn't quite convert it into a stage win or KoM jersey - but nice to see him delivering for Desigual.

Schleck able to match but not pass Taaramae is probably about the optimal result. To be expected, and it's good riding to extend his advantage over the nearest rivals.

Goos on a great day, not quite able to make contact earlier on, but then able to sprint for 10th place is cool. Just the breakaway unfortunately denying him a move into the Top 20.

Heymes more riding at his level, but very fortunate to see Vasyliv and Schir unable to beat him. The U25 jersey suddenly becomes a realistic opportunity for him, which could well go down as a career highlight if he can pull it off.

Now hopefully Stage 7 can turn out to be a Van der Lijke stage. Demare, Enger and Van Avermaet as the 2016 Top 3 gives hope, but it is a stage that can go a number of ways.

Huge stage for us. Machado's attack up to Hirt was decisive in giving him the leap into the podium. Our tactics are still a bit messy, but I can't complain about the results. Also Reis still strong in 12th.

Still 2 dangerous stages to go. Gesink's inactivity could end tomorrow in the hilly stagge and offset today's result. Otherwise it seems Amadaor is the one to fear in the last uphill TT.

Congrats on the win, Bushwackers!
