I'm very happy that Tenorio actually finished where he did. It could have always been better, but when looking at it, it could have been so much worse. Hopefully, there will be enough mountain gaps so Tenorio might still get a podium after all.

That's a long way back for Dombo to come from, not that good at hills sadly.

Excellent opening from Mottin, but WTF Roelandts? You're meant to be the sprinter who can survive the hills.
Very hard to see past Spilak now

Sweet Jesus Alarcon is a mile back, need emergency blood bag evening here!
Wait Chamorra isn't he one of my loan slaves....
By heck he is Red Bull rules even beating the Spilak beast mode!

Wow, must say I hope Martin would make it his advantage that the hilly stage came before the mountain stages, but this is way above expectations
Suddenly a top 5 looks a lot more likely to happen, but it comes down to how well he can limit his losses to riders like Tenorio, Schleck, Denifl and maybe even Alarcon in the mountains. But now there's hope!
On stage 3: The acceleration stat must be overrated in these threads when Santos can do that in a sprint
Double congratulations to Smowz, who looks like he can't stop adding points, even with his leader being left behind. Also nice work by Spilak, I guess his great class simply made it impossible for Martin to follow in the final kilometers.
And thanks for the two reports, Gustavovskiy! They've definitely not made me less excited for what's to come, as I had never imagined such a great position for Martin after the hilly stage. |

Yikes, wonder what happened to Nibali there. Hopefully he'll go on the offensive in the mountains at least.

Red Bull today
Pretty good stuff from Morton and Pozzovivo though. Really not sure how they will handle this good looking GC-situation, but this went pretty well so far. Especially Morton on the move is nice to see. Spilak with a first sign of dominance (somehow to be expected). Damn good days for Red Bull and Festina.

We have almost broken into top 70,woohooo.
I wonder why we send Hačečký into the break when we have three or four more guys much more suited for an attack in this type of stage, even more when we dont have a top50 in GC favourite.
Congrats to Red Bull, like they would need lucky breakaway wins.

Denifl lost quite some time there, might be hard to get top 5 now :/ I guess the lenght of the stage gave him trouble with his stamina. Hopefully this will make him attack in the mountains

Amazing stage. I have lost more than that to Andy in the past, so Im not going to jump to conclusions, but we have to admit that it is ours to lose now. I just hope he knows when to attack when leading the race.
Also a good start from Hacecky, who might fight for a top 30 in the end. I have missed such guys.

Just caught up. Pretty good start, though Elissonde has lost more than I'd like and Vanderbiest really ought to have won stage 3 from that position. Kadri is doing amazingly though, so more unexpected points coming in. |

Terrible race so far.
It’s frustrating to see Duarte losing four minutes on a flat stage after a good opening prologue, even though he probably wouldn’t take many points here in this field anyway. I also wish we would take part in the breakaways, which we have been unable to do so far. Hopefully that changes in the next stages, so that we at least can get some TV-time in our first homerace of the season.

Good first 4 stages by Kritskiy, Prati di Tivo and Monte Rotondo time! Think Spilak (and his team) is strong enough to win it now.

PCM 14 is a joke
Top 10 contender Sella tries to get into the breakaway and gets allowed to go and form the breakaway.
That is probably because of his relatively low hill stat but I mean,it is ridicolous

Wohooo, great ride from Pozzovivo! Third on the stage is a massive effort, which will hopefully help him to secured a very nice GC-result now. Still some dangerous names not too far behind, but that's a nice race for him so far.. Morton being dropped is okay then. May he help Pozzovivo in some way tomorrow - plus finishing where he is now.
Awesome stage for Martin of course. Definitely a bad day for Spilak to not have the legs, as it seems. Still a chance to counter, but Martin with a huge step towards a huge win...
Thanks for the report, which I obviously did enjoy

I don't know if there is any rider overperforming more than Dan Martin in this game
And Spilak underperformed a lot here.He must be turning the tables on Monte Rotondo to make me win my bet
Also,SotD,I think this(Spilak's terrible performance) mostly happened because of being left behind in a split. When splits appear the riders are not attentive and only realize when it gets to 30-60 seconds.

Amazing!
That's just sensational and obviously way above expectations. Looked like Martin chose the perfect moment to attack with none of the 84/85 guys wanting to follow. Just brilliant to see him go on and take the stage as well, our first win this season. Thanks a lot for the report, Gustavovskiy!
And suddenly the GC is looking unbelievable Hopefully he can have another great day on stage 6 and hold on to the jersey, that would be massive after our disappointing start to the season. But when Martin can take more than two minutes on Spilak in the leader's jersey on a mountain top finish, it's definitely possible to loose it.
Hopefully we'll allow a break to go all the way, and we really should as Nesset abandoned this stage, we only got five riders left. |

This stage was all about timing. Spilak looked strong and I thought he would devour this stage since the penultimate climb when he managed to be on the good side of that 1st split.
However on the last climb, the split looked to be mostly due to lack of attention indeed, since Spilak immediately began a powerful chasing effort.
Merit to the riders who were attentive and who managed to choose the best moments to explore an offensive. Very realistic if you ask me, but the Man-Game is a numerical-based game where you can't hire riders based on their smarts.

Well Alarcon is just rolling around here - hoping for some glimmer of fight on last mountain stage - to try and at least crack a top 10.
Dan Martin... surely that is a slap in the face for the ice creamers - great result for Aker though.
