2nd Close from Haugard, a bit more luck with the win and he could've been there. Now it's Zabel time

First year I've not had a single rider in Avenir, but I'll have to just cheer for Metinvest instead! Third is a good start, though I expected more from the Ukrainians...

This season is great, I've never had so many wins! Fantastic ride by Jungels to win, but also kudos to stagiare Savitskiy for a 6th place finish.
Well you do have two teams!! Congrats nevertheless.
With the Alpina riders losing some time, they have to make the break in the following stages. Would be great to see Gaspar make a move.
Talking only in a Vesuvio context here. In past seasons individual wins have been much less common - and usually only stemming from 1 rider.

Nice top 10 by Kiflay. Sort of forgot about him.
Shikai with a very strong start, I'm sure he'll be the one to beat. Nice win for Vesuvio and Jungels.

Great to see the race rolling, and a good start by Howson. Also cool to see Holst Enger close to the top 20, and I'm very curious about how the team handles the flat stages and if they're fancying his chances there, or try the breakaways.
Thanks for the report, tsmoha, and congratulations SN! That could very well be the first of many stage wins for your riders in this edition of l'Avenir. |

Knew I should have tried to get Goldstein a ride. Never mind though, Altanzul and Boroš did as expected or better there. Congrats SN, deserved win after getting the problems with this race fixed |

Good start from Lecuisinier. I'm a bit sad that he wasn't able to level out Shikai, despite being a bit worse, but it was good...
It was not good, though, to see Coquard not in the top 10 - I had really expected that from him. It will be difficult for him to get a hold of the leaders jersey.

Surprised Kragh Andersen wasn't near the bottom in a TT.

That's a little disappointing from Chavanne, I was really rooting for him there.

Impressive ride from Jungels here. Kinda deserved indeed, as he also won this prologue in my original run of this race (Just as a fun fact)
Had minor hopes for Oram or Frame to show something more here, but it's okay.

Good start here. Could be a really good GC battle too.

Guess we couldn't have expected much from that prologue but everyone lost quite a big chunk of time which is rather annoying. Guess it's just a case of waiting for the mountains

Well some dude got SRB's name in the top 10. Sean De Bie has never heard of him of course.
Ambitions here are limited - but hoping to see that jersey in amongst the action. Vesuvio are all over the front pages of L'Equipe at the moment!

Looking through the list of favourites it seems as if the Evonik jersey might be seen a lot through the stages. The results should come from the Rothaus guys but I'd like to see them nevertheless ...

Yeah. The BVB jersey should be seen a lot I guess. At least I hope so.
Except for sprint stages I hope to see them in the breakaway as well. |

Disappointing stage for Grosu.
And Van der Lijke seems to be much better than Wesley Kreder even though they are basically the same rider.

Good leadout from my guys especially LNH once again in brilliant shape providing a strong leadout. Too bad that Krieger could not stay at his wheel. He'll get more chances though!

Perfection.
Hope Haig is alright that was unlucky. Tomorrow should be interesting. Lijke strong enough to try and get yellow but maybe he'll repay Lutsenko.

Pretty good from Holst Enger, especially as he was left on his own in the final kilometers. Hopefully he can keep up that way on the flat stages, and maybe find a decent wheel on one of the stages.
Congrats, Alakagom! Van Der Lijke is proving why he's rated highly thinking of the future.
Thanks for a very nice report, tsmoha! I really like that you named a lot of the riders involved, as I'm sure it makes the report that little bit closer to perfection for any manager of the riders |
