Oh well. We weren't at all strong enough to keep things together. Atleast Guerao got a stagewin. Seeing as Ratiy is injured, and an hour behind schedule, this race just needs to go down in the books as another nothing.

Vermeltfoort! Finally a designated fighter in my team gets a breakaway win.

I hope not because thats the only win from someone who isn't called Cunego so far and I don't want to rely on breakaway wins

I was thinking more of him possibly winning the Queen stage to follow up on Vermeltfoort's win. |

Solid from Contador. He could have a shot at fifth place overall, but he can't afford to lose any time to Sella on stage 8. At least he should on paper be a tiny bit better than the Italian in the MTT.
Thanks again for your great work, tsmoha!
Schleck looks safe for the overall win now. Thought for one moment Amador was going to gap him and put some pressure on him before the final two stages, but the Luxembourgian showed his class in the end, congratulations SN. Looks like you'll get your win goal! |

After amazing Vuelta it´s time to wake up. My only hope for good result is obviously Mohs, but this time he´s without such strong support here. Opening stage looks like the easiest one, remaining flat stages come after mountains/TT and I´m afraid it can easily twist to successful break festival again.
Thanks for preview tsmoha!
This.
Question is if sending team of power machines would even help to prevent breakaway wins like this. I guess not. Does somebody know, how AI behaves in this kind of situations in PCM14?

Schleck is looking in awesome form here. Almost caught out at the end but strong enough to haul Amador back and win the stage. Pity he allowed Amador a gap in the first place as instead he could have gained some time to really kill off Amador's chances. 1'18 is within reach of a bad day.

The top two here look pretty secure - would be a big upset for Amador to overhaul Schleck but he is showing great spirit for UBS's big race.
Behind Valverde showing some real class so badly missed in the Vuelta, Machado again for me well short of where I would expect him to be. He may be able to get back to last spot on podium, that to me looks the big battle in this race.
Quite a few withdrawels, nice for SRB to miss that cull you would hope that gives us the chance of getting in the breakaway on the next day.
@beagle: Must admit I felt pcm13 would not be that good for sprinters thats why I got rid of Van Heerden and Van Stayen - though actually the latter has been reinvented well in the PCT, JvH has been largely worthless for Aker. Still Pokerstars have done really well out of sprints so what do I know!

Congrats again SN, I think that was the final nail in the coffin. I'm still holding out for a stage win in the TT. I'd hate to come away from this empty handed

Indeed. Wage of my three elite sprinters, I guess all of them can be easily counted in to TOP10 sprinters in PT this season, is about 1,2M. So spending 1/3 of budget, I expect big results of my team in flat races/stages. Obviously I feel disappointed when A LOT of opportunities is wasted because of zero interest to chase breakaway down (e.g. Giro, California, here). With no offence, I´m suspicious it can relate to weakness of sprinter teams from time to time. At least my support team here and on Giro was very poor. That´s why I was asking about experiences from PCM14, if it´s worthy to invest some more money to strong flat riders to lower number of breakaway wins in stages for sprinters?

And again one of the last in the breakaway. Seems to be the only thing to cheer for, when I have one in the group. At least Olivier was in there twice, which is nice to see.
GM with a bad stage unfortunately.
GC from 11-13 probably is where I had expected him anyway. So this is looking well for me. |

A big relief to read that Contador hung on to the group of favourites, as I was slightly scared when I couldn't spot him on the picture
5th place overall looks about safe now, can't see Contador gain any seconds on Machado in the MTT, based on both the stats and the MTT in the Vuelta. |

Wasn't expecting this stage to interfere with GC, but well, it worked in our favour.
Schleck seems to have this wrapped up, but still the last MTT must be an interesting stage.

Hey, 5th out of 9th isn't all that bad. It's an improvement from poor to average
A couple of worrying moments for Schleck but he has pulled through again. Vysna has had a very nice week or so in the MG!

After a good purple patch in the middle of this race, I was feeling good about this race but it as slipped away to be just another low scoring stage race. About right I suppose with the squad I sent and a stage win is not too shabby.
At the front it has been a bumpy ride by Schleck prepares for the tour in seeing off UBS/ Cunego challenge.

Decent race from Brambilla in the end. Next year, with some training, he should be more consistent.

Losing the duel against Brambilla sucks.
Had hoped to stay in 12th or even attack Nepo for 11th.
Anyway. Decent GC result for Gomez Marchante, who will get a small break now after the Giro/Vuelta/Suisse triple.
Thanks for the reports, tsmoha. Very enjoyable to read. |

Very nice early Birthday present! Can hardly ask for more from Schleck than 3 stage wins, GC, Points and 2nd in the KoM. Victory Goal achieved, and good prep for the Tour.
Also cool to win the Teams competition and be 2nd and 4th in the U25 classification.
