Really?
It's not at all technical. A few bends near the top, but after that it's practically straight forward all the way down.

I've got a dollar on Simon at 70:1 odds thinking that this was a good stage for him. Why is he attacking? He can climb much better than most sprinters.

Keep in mind there is still a guy in the pack named Peter, and a certain John is also sitting on a bike on Corsica
Edit: besides, he's reeled in already

To be honest Count his 2013 results don't suggest he'll be much of a factor, I had him in my fantasy team last year and he was nowhere in most of the tours hilly sprinters finishes. Two wins at the 2012 Volta ahead of Rigo Uran and Gavazzi doesn't suggest to me he'll be any competition for Sagan etc.
Not really convinced by the Degenkolb or Hagen prospects either. Both look like they have lost a lot of speed.
Guys like Gallopin or Goss.
Sherwin and Liggitt banging their usual nonsense. Moaning about points given at finish yesterday and my favourite today 'Omega Pharma at front perhaps they think Cav can get over the climb' .... 3 km before the intermediate sprint the real reason why they are there.

I've no idea why I decided to "kick" Boom out of my fantasy team...

Yeah but the odds on them were much, much shorter and 70:1 was a good bet I felt. I would put him amongst the 10 favourites for the day. Well at least before he decided to attack...

Agree that Hagen was disappointing yesterday, but he has some good results this season when he has had permission to go for it. Degenkolb on the other hand has no noteworthy results this year other than the free Giro stage.
I had Gallopin as a joker for today, but his crash yesterday was pretty bad, so I doubt he will be up there. Goss just seems like he has lost all momentum. He has had his share of bad luck, but he often just falls through when he has a shot of achieving something. Would not surprise me if he drops before Cav and Greipel today.
I find Kristoff extremely strong at the moment and the headwind sprint should suit him well if it is a small group. Would also be fun to see Dumoulin end up with yellow with a bit of luck. |

I was about to boot him on last day, but I really couldn't find another 6 or 4 pointer. Guys like Simon and Amador didn't convince. So I thought I'd have a punt on a breakaway rider.
By the way something I will say for Sherwin is I love his information on the scenery.

Cavendish is being sensible, taking points but not wasting energy. Van Poppel is really impressing |

I also wondered what happened with EBH's sprint in a rather weak sprinting field. Got the explanation on norwegian tv.
Did a quick translation of the interview for those interrested:
Spoiler R: What happened in the sprint there?
E: There were a lot of counter messages during the last kilometers. First I got the message that the finish were only 3 kms away, when it really was 10 km to go, after some time, suddenly we went back to the original finish line. Everything became really hectic in the Peloton. Then I had a small "crash" during the build up of the sprint. *lifting up his wheel and showing that it is locked, managing to turn it a couple of centimeters with his arms*
E: As you can imagine, it's not the easiest of tasks to sprint with such a back wheel, haha.
R: Is it completely stuck?
E: Yeah..the sprint was challenging.
R: So, how did this happen?
E: Somebody crashed into me from behind, I had strong legs and felt I could challenge for victory, but I feel lucky that I avoid the asphalt, and I'm not that disappointed with my sprint given the circumstances. I mean, it is a bit difficult when the wheel suddenly won't roll around.
R: Do you think you could have won, withouth the last accident?
E: It's impossible to know how it would have gone then, but I know I would have finished higher than yesterday, if my wheel would have been a little more co-operative. It's a pity, but as I said, I'm glad I didn't crash like so many did in the end, and I hope that everyone else are fine.
R: Have you ever raced a more dramatic stage in the TdF?
E: The start of the stage was both easy and relaxing, but it became really chaotic in the end, espescially when we reached the point where nobody knew where the finish line was.

It's an even worse decision now.
If he wins the Tour it's still stupid.
The chances of this ruining his career are high.
