2014 ProTour Team Previews
7-Eleven Pro Cycling Team
Team Astana
BMC Cycling Team
Euskaltel - Euskadi
Francais de Jeux - Bigmat
Garmin - Barracuda
Katusha Team
Lampre - ISD
Liquigas - Cannondale
Lotto - Belisol
Movistar Cycling
OmegaPharma - Quickstep
Orica - GreenEDGE
Rabobank Cycling Team
Red Bull Cycling Team
Santander Racing
Sky ProCycling
Team Europcar
This years ProTour teams look extremely strong and we have had a few big name riders switch teams!
The Schleck brothers have jumped from Leopard, who have disbanded and joined the new Red Bull Racing team! Red Bull are one of the top sports drink brands in the world and have teams in many different sports, such as Soccer, Air Racing, F1, Nascar and many other forms of Motorsport. They felt it was time to sponsor another type of racing team! The Schleck's will give the team a huge profile, and a great chance of winning a GT in their inaugural season.
Meanwhile, Santander another name F1 fans will find familiar has become the sole sponsor of Fernando Alonso's Cycling team. Along with Contadoe and Sanchez, they now have Moreno, Navarro and a few sprinters in Galdos and Pacheco, who may be able to keep the team in a confident position throughout the season.
Another team to talk about is BMC. With Evans and Gilbert both returning to Lotto their former teams, the leadership will now fall to two American riders, Taylor Phinney and Tejay Van Garderen. Two of America's biggest talents, and this season they hope to finally become top cyclists in the world after many seasons of anticipation from cycling fans globally. The team has gone back to a more Suisse look after the loss of its stars, but despite the loss in budget the manager still has ambitions of becoming a top team, they just plan on developing their talent now, instead of buying it.
And then there is 7-Eleven Cycling! They are a former sponsor in the 80's and 90's and have decided to sponsor a team once again! The plan is to win the Tour de France and they want a good showing in American races. They have an experienced rider in Chris Horner, who will likely lead the team in their big races.
And finally a team that will not like all these new American teams bursting into the picture, and high budget teams for that matter, is Garmin. Of course Garmin had issues, when Wiggins left, well now Hesjedal has left, and they are left with a bunch of good climbers, but none great! A Top 10 in the TDF would be great, but one in the Giro or Vuelta would be more realistic. They do still have two of the best sprinters in the world, in Farrar and Haussler as they likely aim for a shot at all 3 GT sprint jerseys between the two.

I love the 7-Eleven team!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.

Thanks a lot everyone! Glad you liked the previews! Just the Conti teams left now!
7-Eleven is a store I frequently visit, so I thought it was great to bring them back!

2014 Continental Tour Team Previews
The Conti Tour has new additions and AG2R the former PT team is probably the biggest. They even brought in a bunch of new riders like Gerrans who were expected to help them get good results in the classics, but now they will need to get to the classics to begin with.
Colnago looks like the top Italian team, and with Pozzovivo and Duarte they could really compete for a great result in the Giro. And dont forget that there is Modolo too, who can also get them a good result.
Sporza is one of the new teams, and they dont have any huge stars. They do however have Hermans and Roelandts, who may be able to help the team get enough points to promote to the Pro Tour.
Team NetApp are really on a track to success. They have added even more Germans, Degenkolb and Burghardt who could win them several stages this year. I like this team to promote, but their GC capabilities are a little thin, and that is my main concern.
Team Petronas is the newest team in the CT. They are a brand new squad based out of Malaysia and will want to gather the best riders from around the world. With their big budget, and a good amount of strong riders on the team already, I could see the team promoting alongside one of the Italian teams.
And finally the two biggest rivals to Spidertech, Team Type 1 and United Healthcare, who will both want to steal away Spidertech's chances of promoting in the next few years. Team Type 1 have been strong enough to get some nice Wildcards last year, and the insane strength of the Aussies on UHC will scare Steve Bauer. But I think Steve has something to say about that, with some great transfers himself....

Thanks a lot Andy!
Yeah, I thought that it would be best to remove Saxobank, as they were close to dropping sponsorship and would most likely, if they go Conti.

Thanks a lot you two!
Spidertech has actually added a secondary sponsor somehow...
But I like them, and the country they are, so I signed a very small amount from that country to please them, and quite like the composition of the team now!

Cyclingnews.com Team Presentation
Spidertech p/b C10 - Colnago
This season Colnago take over as Bike sponsor, although they have given the team extra money to have their sponsor in the team name, as well as having a small amount of Italians.
In | | | Out | | | | | | | | Fumiyuki Beppu | | | Brian Vandborg | | Alex Bowden | | | Raymond Kunzli | | Marco Cattaneo | | | Bruno Langlois | | Mattia Cattaneo | | | Mark Batty | | Ryder Hesjedal | | | | | Edward King | | | | | Ben King | | | | | Omar Lombardi | | | | | Christian Salerno | | | | | Tyler Thomas | | | | | David Veilleux | | | | | Cameron Wurf | | | |
Absolute Leaders | | | | | Ryder Hesjedal | | David Veilleux |
Ryder was the teams biggest addition, and he instantly adds a whole extra dynamic to the team. He is the outright leader and will be able to get a few climbing victories still. He joins from Garmin, who began to fill up with climbers, and he felt he was losing his leadership role. Ryder always had great respect for Steve Bauer, so he finally decided to join his project and with this Steve Bauer may be able to achieve his goal and reach the Tour de France.
David Veilleux has recently joined from Team Sky. He is an up and coming rider for Canada and rides very similarly to the great Steve Bauer, who was a legend for his country, back in his day. Now he is here, and can lead in a variety of races, but his main strength is TT's where he can dominate. He has even surpassed the great Svein Tuft as Canada's best TTer although he missed last seasons Nat. Champs due to injury.
Climbers | | | | | Mattia Cattaneo | | Christian Salerno | | Christian Meier | | Flavio de Luna |
With an increased budget this season for Spidertech thanks to a new bike (and a few Italians) deal, the team was able to capture one of the most promising Italian climbers. Mattia is only 23 years of age, and already looks strong enough to challenge for some late mountain stage attacking wins. Lets hope he can do it!
Christian Salerno is one of my favourite riders, and the atttacking style he has, will be perfect for this team. He will be able to challenge for KoM's and of course he will get a chance to lead the team at certain points.
Meier is a former rider, who's returned last year and he is a useful climber. He might not be good enough to lead often but he will be a valuable domestique to Hesjedal's season goal.
Flavio de Luna is still learning, but he is becoming a strong climber in his own right. Like Meier he will be more useful as a helper to Hesjedal but he can lead on his own as well!
Time Trialers | | | | | Cameron Wurf | | Ben King |
Cameron is also one of Steve's great signings from the off-season. He is a great teammate and also a strong Time Trialer. He will help the team in any TTT's they may have, and of course he is willing to work for his leaders on every stage, an underappreciated skill.
Ben King is a great young American. After not finding a team for the first few months of the offseason he was offered a conract by Spidertech who are in their 2nd phase of expansion and he fit the role perfectly. He will be another strong TTer as well as a great workhorse.
Sprinters | | | | | Guillaume Boivin | | Keven Lacombe | | Martin Gilbert | | Will Routley | | Simon Lambert-Lemay | | Ryan Anderson | | Francois Parisien |
Boivin is the most promising sprinter on the team, and also the fastest. He is one of Canada's best sprinters although he has trouble getting over the hills. If he can get over those, he is one of the fastest sprinters in the Continental Tour!
Lacombe is our most consistent sprinter and he will be expected to get some good results for the team. I think he can compete with some of the best sprinters in the world on his day, so I hope he can do well.
Martin Gilbert has had some great wins in the past, and he may be able to get the odd win or podium for the team! We believe in him.
Routley was the former Canadian champion and he is a decent finisher on flat finishes. Aside from that, he will also be a good leadout man to one of our two Top sprinters.
Simon is still learning, but he can be a good leadout man and teammate. IF he can get into a breakaway with his type of finishing he also poses a good threat.
Anderson has always been an underrated sprinter and I think he will be able to get some nice sprinting done for the team. If he isn't leading himself he will be leading out for others.
Finally Parisien is a great allround rider and he will be a great breakaway rider. He can really surprise and I see him being used very tactically by his team thanks to his ability.
Young Riders | | | | | Tyler Thomas | | David Boily | | Omar Lombardi |
Tyler Thomas is a new American rider, who was riding in the U23 division last season. After some great climbing results, Spidertech were first to sign him up for next season and lucky for them, because he could be the next Lance Armstrong!
Boily is probably going to be Canada's next great climber. He is already a good TTer but his results also suggest he will be a good climber. One season of work on his climbing and he could be ready to lead some races. For now though, he will learn under Hesjedal.
Omar Lombardi was a free agent last year, but he has some upside to him, like his Time trial ability, as well as his climbing. He wanted to join up with some of his fellow Italians, so the decision was easy for him.
Team Mates | | | | | Edward King | | Caleb Fairly | | J.P. McCarty | | Marco Cattaneo | | Fumiyuki Beppu | | Lucas Euser | | Hugo Houle | | Ryan Roth | | Charly Vives | | Zachary Bell | | Alex Bowden |

Absolutely Awesome. Your team is fucking sick.
Hesjedal, David, Boivin, Salerno, Beppu, Wurf, so many of my favourite riders! Plus Colnago, my favourite bike brand, as sponsor!

That's quite a lot of riders for a rather 'weak' team (in general)
Nevertheless, interesting riders, and the leaders could bring good results for Canada. Nice team reviews as well

Very nice preview, David should get plenty of leadership roles with this squad which is always great. Can't wait for the racing to start.
On a side note, I don't see Tyler Thomas becoming the next Lance Armstrong with his TT stat
