Thanks lluuiiggii, I really hope the mountain stage is successful. I am just about to play it.
Thanks baia... (I just did that..)
Any guesses on what the avatar might represent? You might get something cool like a choice in which race David can go for a break.

Oh hey! You don't usually comment in my story threads.
And yeah correct. Yeah the whole thing is looking really bad. The only thing that can come out as a positive for me is that everyone I know personally is alive and responding to my emails.

That's good. Read on the paper today about the 50 people that stayed in Fukushima. They're heroes.

Tour of Oman Stage 4
My Plan: The stage is the only mountain stage of the whole tour. Its one of two stages that will affect the GC riders, with the TT left tommorow. Obviously I want to ride well today and show my team I can survive in the mountains, but my main goal is help Kern and Voeckler as in my opinion unselfeshness is more important that being a very strong rider, because then the directors can pick me for races and not have to worry about me not following orders, but onto the stage.
Todays BOTD included 3 of Europcars riders, Claude, Chavanel and Haddou.
They were all brought back though and a select group of about 40 riders had begun the climb to the top, and the finish line. I was struggling to hold on at the back. This would prove to be a tough climb for me.
Kern was the first rider to make a move. With 12km still to go, this was a risky move and probably why no one followed him.
About 5km later Kern had increased his gap. He now has a 1:45 lead on the group of about 20 riders behind. Now all he has to do is focus on the remaining switchbacks and ride to the win, while the battle for 2nd ensues.
Michael Rasmussen is feeling strong today, and gives it a go. He actuallly had a 1:10 gap back to the large group (3rd group on the road) at one point but it was decreased to 45'.
Kern takes the fantastic win. One of the best victories of the season for anyone and a truly inspiring ride from him. Rasmussen takes 2nd.
And in the sprint for 3rd place Tommy takes the crucial time bonuses away from other contendors like Schumacher who can ride a strong time trial. But now to my ride. I was very disapointed that I could not ride in the big group, but I hoped it was only because I was out of form. Still I can't wait to have a party back at the hotel.

That wasn't the best climb for David, but what really matters is it was an excellent stage for Europcar!! You talked about Voeckler, but it was Kern doing an amazing ride! 12 km of solo in that mountain must be tough. Winning by more than 2'40 to almost all riders, though, is priceless Also Voeckler very strong with a 3rd. Overall should be secured now

Nice win! You did say previously kern was stronger, my money wouldn't been on voeckler but nonetheless. Nice ride by David, with a 67 mtn it can be tough. |

@lluuiiggii-Thanks, the 12km solo was really weird. I just sent up Kern to push the pace for Voeckler and he immediately had a 10 second gap, so I attacked and he pulled away. I guess the other riders didn't think much of him thanks to Voeckler being the rider with the last number in the startlist being a 1 (making him "appear" to be leader to the rest.)
@DJP-Thanks, if David was in the form of his life he would have managed to hold on, but currently he has the 2nd worst form on the entire team.

When do you expect David to reach competitive form?
PS: I love the graphics and pictures so far. I can't even get close to that on my game. Keep up the good work.

In terms of form he'll probably be somewhere in the mid 80's by the end of Cholet (4 day race, so a semi-peak) then it will go down some more with the 3 classics. After that the rest of his schedule will be figured out and he will try to have one or two peaks, for the most important races.
Thanks, and seriously go out and buy a decent graphics card. The one I'm using was $79(On sale though), so just try not to buy a PS3 game and instead spend it on a GFX card and you'd be surprised how much better and faster your game will run.

This is very well written and engaging, quite funny that there are so few of these one-rider-stories. Keep up the good work! |

Thanks, this gives me more motivation to continue. To be honest I'm not sure why there are so few one-rider stories either, but it may because it requires much more detail to write one than a team story, and writing in the first-person.
@baia thanks.

I have to add my two cents First of all great victory, really dominating perofrmace in Oman, second of all great writing, screens and your tone and the way you write intrests a lot, great for us fans
Hope you will continue this story long, as there are few one rider stories that really progressed a lot except few great ones like Ryder Hesjedal

Tour of Oman Stage 5 [ITT]
My Plan:This is a time-trial my speciality so I want to achieve a good result. I think I can do very well today because of the rolling course. Top 15 on the stage is very possible and as I'm going out on the course before Kern I can tell him which places he needs to go hard on.
So I was the middle rider to go out for Europcar. The weather was nice and calm, a change compared to the strong winds of the previous 4 days.
I could see the finish even though there was only 10km left because there's no trees in this country, but I tried not to think about it and ride my own pace.
Compared to the other days, I was almost completely unaware of the other results happeneing around me, so this was a huge surprise. When I crossed the line I had taken the top spot on the provisional ranking, and by almost 30 seconds. Almost an hour had passed when I was finally passed for 1st, Geraint Thomas had beaten my time by 3 seconds, which would later be beaten by both Voeckler and Kern, with Kern taking the stage.
Stage:
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Christophe Kern | Team Europcar | 38'25 | 2 | Thomas Voeckler | Team Europcar | + 27 | 3 | Geraint Thomas | Sky ProCycling | s.t. | 4 | David Veilleux | Team Europcar | + 30 | 5 | Juan Antonio Flecha | Sky ProCycling | + 33 | 6 | Dominique Cornu | Topsport Vlaanderen - Mercator | + 41 | 7 | Stefan Schumacher | Miche - Guerciotti | + 43 | 8 | Kurt-Asle Arvesen | Sky ProCycling | + 50 | 9 | Guillaume Le Floch | Team Europcar | + 52 | 10 | Jure Kocjan | Team Type 1 | s.t. |
GC

@Alakagom:Thanks, that was also really nice.
I also had an interview with tourofoman.om about my success yesterday before todays stage.
Reporter:How did you think your TT went yesterday?
David:I thought it went very well. I rode better than I thought I would, so Im very pleased.
Reporter:Europcar has really dominated the last two stages. Do you plan to win this sprint stage? Your team has had trouble in the sprints here.
David:Well yeah, I think we've done so well because we have rode as a team and have always thought about our team goal more than our individual goals. And we of course want to win today, but Chavanel has been trying to get in shape for races later on in the season, so there's no pressure for him to win a stage.
Reporter:Thanks for your time, lets hope you can be in the spotlight as much as Hesjedal was in Canada last year with his TDF performance.
David:Thanks. He has always been someone I look up to.

Thanks. I hadn't noticed I left it off. He's 64th or something like that and still 7 minutes behind.
