So that went well, huh?
Decided to leave the laptop behind during vacations, which means you had to wait an additional week (again), but we're back and there shouldn't be any more delays for the remaining three rounds. Let's hope, anyway
I'm with stupid 2021 - Game 8, Round 2
I expected a low-scoring round with these types of questions and it's what we got, but there were still some answers that got you a good amount of points.
1. Name a piece of furniture.
Three items were mentioned 4 times each: the desk (or table), the sofa (or couch) and the chair. Only one point each for the wardrobe and the bed.
2. Name a craft other than carpentry.
Only one answer received more than two points: 3 go to the Blacksmith. 2 each for Painting, Sewing/Textile work and Ceramics/Pottery, just one for the following.
Spoiler Craft Beer
Masonry
Plumbing
Sculpting
Welding
3. Name a building famous for its architecture.
Even more diverse than the previous one, the Eiffel Tower takes 3 points, the Sydney Opera House (which I thought was easily the favorite) and the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona get 2, with a wide variety of answers following at 1, ranging from ancient monuments and medieval churches to modern skyscrapers and museums.
Spoiler Cathedral of Notre Dame
Colosseum
Guggenheim Museum
Leaning Tower of Pisa
Petronas Towers
Sistine Chapel
Taj Majal
4. Name a famous artist.
Here is where we find the top answer of the round: 7 points to everyone who answered Pablo Picasso! Vincent Van Gogh gets 3, Leonardo Da Vinci 2. Antonio Gaudi gets 1 (Nemolito being the only one to connect this with the previous answer with the Sagrada Familia), as does Ivan Aivazovsky, who I have to admit I had to google, which says something either about his (lack of) prominence or my (lack of) knowledge of art.
5. Name a type of artwork that you would not (or rarely) find in a museum.
Second top answer of the round: Graffiti. 5 points for that; Music is the only other type of artwork that got mentioned twice. Again, a wide range of one pointers, with special mentions to the more "out there" answers of the_hoyle's jerseys (hard to argue with that) and A big tree (also kinda hard to argue with, if you think about it).
Spoiler A big tree
Cartoons
Cave Wall Paintings
Ceramic Art
Metal Sculpture
the_hoyle's jerseys!
Theater
Standings
No perfect round this time, but baseballlover312 comes by far the closest with 20 of a possible 22 points, missing out only on question 2. kandesbunzler follows with 17 points ahead of a close pack, places 3 through 11 are seperated by a mere 3 points.
As I said, this was a low-scoring round so the GC is still largely shaped by round 1, with the Top 4 still in place. But kandesbunzler26 uses this round to draw level with ivaneurope, and roturn is within a point of the lead now as well. Bbl meanwhile jumps to fifth thanks to his round win.
I'm with stupid 2021: Game 8, Round 3
Revolutions
1. Name a revolution, successful or not, other than the French.
2. Name a revolutionary.
3. Name a ruler that has been famously overthrown.
4. Name a title that an autocratic ruler may bear, other than King.
5. Name a country that does not exist anymore.
Inspired by the fantastic podcast Revolutions, give it a listen if that's the sort of thing you might be interested in! I hope the questions are doable even without a deep knowledge of or interest in history.
Send in the answers by Friday, October the 8th, 8pm daily time.

Bloody Little Einsteins still making me still believe Van Gogh is the most famous over Picasso thirteen years after I watched it
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

I was certain craft brewing and Ivan Aivazovsky will offer me only 1 point each, but I love both a lot. And it seems Aivazovsky needed to be highlighted. |

I'm with stupid 2021 - Game 8, Round 3
First of all, I'm happy that the field has expanded, welcome knockout and fjhoekie to the game! Second, I'm also pretty happy with how the round turned out. Lots of high-scoring answers, but none that would entirely tank your round if you didn't get it and a good amount of decent second-place answers, too.
1. Name a revolution, successful or not, other than the French.
The American Revolution was named the most, 8 points for that, but also 5 to the Industrial Revolution, an answer I wouldn't have thought of but which also works. 2 for the Russian/Bolshevik, one for the Haitian Revolution, the only successful slave revolt on a national level in history.
2. Name a revolutionary.
Two answers that gave more than one point: 7 to Che Guevara, 3 to Vladimir Lenin. One each to the following:
Spoiler Mahatma Gandhi
Martin Luther
Nelson Mandela
Karl Marx
Maximillian Robespierre
William Wallace
3. Name a ruler that has been famously overthrown.
Whereas the French Revolution was excluded in Q1, it came back to prominence here as Louis XVI is the top answer for 7 points. 3 to Saddam Hussein, by far the most recent answer, ahead of Tsar Nicholas and Julius Caesar with 2 and Mussolini and Napoleon with 1.
4. Name a title that an autocratic ruler may bear, other than King.
This was the question with the fewest points for the top answer, but you still got 6 for the Emperor. 3 for President and 2 for Queen were the only other multiple point answers. Some creative answers are among the one pointers, including the longest answer in IWS history (I assume).
Spoiler First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons
Premier
Super Administrator
Supreme Leader
Tsar
5. Name a country that does not exist anymore.
Here we have the most points available, 10 for the USSR/Soviet Union. 4 still for Yugoslavia, one each for the German Democratic Republic and the Ottoman Empire.
Standings
bbl narrowly misses out on consecutive round wins, instead jandal takes the crown with 33 of a possible 38 points, missing out on Louis XVI. df_trek and bbl are one point behind, lacking the USSR and Che Guevara, respectively.
On the other end of the spectrum, Nemolito continues to struggle, as do newcomers knockout and fjhoekie - keep at it though, there are still rounds to be won!
The GC is still very close, but a Top 5 has started to emerge. With another rock-solid round, kandesbunzler takes the lead, 2 points ahead of roturn, 3 ahead of ivaneurope and jandal and 4 ahead of bbl. SportingNonsense, DarkWolf, FreitasPCM and df_trek might still have a shot with 2 extraordinary rounds, everyone else is likely out of the race for the crown.
I'm with stupid 2021 - Game 8, Round 4
Perception
1. Name a color.
2. Name a color that is unlikely to be named in Q1.
3. Name something that is hot, other than fire.
4. Name something that is loud.
5. Name something that smells good.
Bit of an experimental one for Q2, we'll see. Send me your answers until Tuesday, October 12th, 8pm daily time.

Suprised that none of my European peers chose the most famosu French revolutionary, but still a good round overall.
