So Contador lost time to everyone and has probably weakest climbing team. He will need Quintana type of day to win.
But I think he is best climber now that Froome is gone. |

2min isn't safe as long as Contador isn't injured imo.
It wont just be 2min
But you do know its Nibali right? and none of the ones you mention can compete with a Contador/Nibali in top form on the mountain.
Valverde can imo, if we are looking at past results. That would involve him not wheelsucking until the final km tho....
A strong Contador could take 30-45 seconds out of Nibali on one stage as well imo.

Nibbles, somehow, wins the Tour - on a cobbled stage.

The real winner here is Quintana. He'll be with a change of 2 GT's this year, if he chose this he'd have none.
You dont think he could win this, with Froome now out?
Even with a 2min gap behind Nibali?
No clean rider can win 2 grand tours in a row like Tour/Giro.
Its impossible.
Did you read Alak's post?

Dont forget stage 16 is tailor made for Nibali and he should gain time on the other favorites there.

They didn't really drop them, it's because Sagan didn't want to work for Spartacus and other way around. These 2 guys doesn't really like each other, so it was kinda expected.
Also this was 100k shorter than Paris-Robaix - so it is easier for the non-specialists to hang on.

I dont think that even a good team would have helped conta that much, they did help him as much as possible on the flat but contador, like the last time we had cobbles, took it slow as he was too afraid (unlike Nibali) he has only himself to blame... :rool:

Just like today was tailormade for the cobble specialists.... and yet Nibali and Fuglsang put 1min into everyone but Boom.

Its not over. If it was someone like Froome getting 3min it might have been.
Contador is best climber in field now that Froome is gone. It will be difficult but not impossible.
Look at Giro this year. Quintana got 3min back, so anything can happen and it usually does.
Though if Nibali won I would be happy because he has suffered a lot this year and deserves the TdF. |
