what a performance by Nibali. No way anyone is beating him now, barring any problems. |

I've got to take my hat off for Majka, was convinced that he might be a bit overhyped and people were expecting too much too soon, but damn. He might snatch an upcoming stage if he keeps going like that. |

Not if he keeps focussing on Giro/Vuelta, but I do doubt he will perform well again in the Tour. BMC should make TVG team leader for the Tour and Evans superdomestique (if he wants that) and Evans can target GC in one the two "lesser" GT's. |

Mark my words: NOTHING was going to happen in the first two climbs, this changes NOTHING.
NOTHING.
The problem is if sunday's stage is changed. That would suck massively.

They'd be climbed at some tempo, and that's tire the weakest climbers.
It may have an influence on the last (flat) stage, and it could have had one on the most fatigued G.C. guys.
About Nibali, that was very expected, he's showed in the previous mountain stages that he's the strongest climber of the Giro peloton.
In the Galibier stage I had notice that he was pedalling more slowly than the other riders in the main group. Not that they can't ride the gear they want, but they've all understood that the closer to their max power they are, the faster they should pedal. And Nibali was visibly far from using a percentage of his max power as high as his opponents'.

One of the few times I agree with issoisso. Because of the long part between the summit of the Stelvio and the foot of the Val Martello, nothing would happen. Maybe 1 or 2 riders out of the GC top 15 will be dropped, but that'd it. And now, watch another boring stage with Pirazzi in the attack, taking all the KOTM-points after having wheelsucked the first 2 climbs. His 2 sprints have tired him out that much, he gets dropped and in the end, the group of favourites will fight for the win. Probably Betacurt attacks with 1500m to go, with Majka in his wheel. Betancurt wins the stage and Scarponi attacks with 100m (yes, hundred) to go for teh 3rd place. Nibali, Uran, Niemiec, Pozzovivo, Sanchez and some former dopers out of Italy finish in that group, while Gesink looses 1 more minute after being kicked of the bike after attacking with 5km to go by a marmotte with rabies.
So don't bother watching, this will be what happens tomorrow.

Or just real.
Anyway, it is a shame that the climbs were removed, arent cyclist supposed to suffer on the way to greatness, why not let them ride there, i thought all the snow was removed from tarmac. Pussies
It is also the shame for someone who was marking this day as attack of Pirazzi and his mountain jersey. Are there less points for these climbs or not? Also we will not have Cima Coppi in the race at all?
But i agrre nothing much will be changed in terms of GC with this removal, but we will miss agreat spectacle.

Though to be honest I'd watch it just to see Gesink getting attacked by the marmotte |

You're absolutely right.
Not only will nothing happen in the first two climbs, but neither on the new route, nor on the finish climb.
Or is April Fool's another date in Italy?
