Jandal, you do realise that you could have said plasma.
I did it as an extra means of precaution. Note SSE, 47 UMd and Dogecoin. Ofc North, Mars and Euro would win, but th at doesn't exclude brain farts and other things that could lead to them saying plasma, a very viable option. I took the extra means of getting the 5 and I cocked up. Better safe ( ) than sorry
Yeah, fair enough.
Isn't it utterly pointless going for obscure answers if you have to use google to get them. I thought the whole point of going for 5 points is seeing what answers you know that others wouldn't go for. It is no achievement to be able to google a planet from another solar system, but it (sort of) is if you can name one yourself no one else would have got.
The only answers I have used Google for was QHS State because I didn't know others, and a couple of others in other rounds. You are cortex about it being pointless though, I'm not using Google next round
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Well, I guess I could do it, just let me think of some questions. First set will most likely come later tonight.

Only 9 participants
1. Name a chemical element
Five different answers here, but only element number one was mentioned multiple times. If you didn't say hydrogen, you can stop dreaming of a good round.
Spoiler Hydrogen x5
Californium x1
Gold x1
Oxygen x1
Potassium x1
2. Name a chemical compound
Only one answer was mentioned multiple times here as well. Water gets seven out of nine mentions. Californium iodide and "The acid in jandal7's stomach" was the other answers.
Spoiler Water x7
Californium iodide x1
The acid in jandal7's stomach x1
3. Name a famous chemist
Many different suggestions here. Dmitri Mendeleev and Marie Curie were both mentioned two times. Gabriël Metsu was as far as I know a painter and not a chemist.
Spoiler Dmitri Mendeleev x2
Marie Curie x2
Alfred Nobel x1
Kenneth Street Jr. x1
My science teacher x1
Niels Bohr x1
Gabriël Metsu x1
4. Name an elementary particle
The answer is electron. Quarks and tau were also correct mentioned answers. I haven't heard of "My dear Watson" on the chemistry lessons though.
Spoiler Electron x6
Tau x1
Quarks x1
My dear Watson x1
5. Name a group in the periodic table
The first and the last group, the alkali metals and the noble gases, were mentioned multiple times. The alkali metals comes away on top picking up 3 points. Once again, we have an incorrect answer. "Metals" is not one of the 18 groups in the periodic table.
Spoiler Group 1 (alkali metals) x3
Group 18 (noble gases) x2
Group 3 (rare earth metals) x1
Group 10 x1
Group 17 (halogens) x1
Metals x1
No perfect round, but four people scores 22 points. Cycleman123, The Hobbit, matt17br and SSJ2Luigi are all in the lead! Both jandal7 and TheManxMissile manages to score five points.

I am happy to have done well, a bit disappointed with the final question answers, I went for the most commonly known group, instead of the first one. Interesting way yiu numbered the groups, I was wondering why you treat the Rare Earth Metals as G3, but Halogens as 17, not 7 as it would be using the same system. I understand both systems are acceptable, but it is strange they were switched between, unless I am missing something. |

The rare earth metals contain scandium, yttrium etc. The rare earth metals belong to group 3 and halogens to group 17 using the same system, or am I missing something?

Ah no, I got them confused with the boron group, which is group 3 in the system where the group numbers skip the transition metals. I often make that mistake, thank you for clearing things up. |

Three days should be enough, especially considering that I wrote out when the deadline was.
Don't worry, you can participate in the remaining four rounds.

Perfect round? Really? With German as answer I wouldn't consider it to be perfect despite having the maximum amount of points...
From Wikipedia (The most trustful site on the internet):
Josef Fischer (20 January 1865 - 3 March 1953) was a German road bicycle racer. He is best known for winning the first edition of Paris–Roubaix in 1896 and Bordeaux–Paris in 1900.
So yeah...
Quite happy with my score tho
