Landa at least tried today, something which can't be said about many riders. What an awful, awful Tour. The fact that Van Aert got 3rd today says it all about this race.

Couldn't agree more and like last year's Giro the Tour route has been a poor one and that hasn't helped much either. Overall there has been about 2 or 3 good stages at most and that is it. A Tour de France where the only attacks of note from the main contenders comes so close to the finish is a poor one and as you say a dom finishing third at this stage in a GT does say it all. Hopefully the Giro will correct this when it comes around.

Todays stage design was nice. The problem was that nobody except Landa tried an attack and that Jumbo was way too strong. But yes generally the route was poor, most of the mountain stages had underwhelming designs, the race was too backloaded and not enough ITT kms either. Col de la Loze at stage 17 is way too late for example, many people feared the climb and did not attack much in the previous stages for example.

So the Jumbo Team Manager, Mr Zeeman, has been kicked off the Tour for: intimidation, insults & improper behavior towards a UCI offical during x-ray checks against mechanical doping. This includes dismantaling Roglic's bike before it was checked by the UCI. These actions took place after Stage 17.
Life was much simpler when we just had to worry about EPO... (not saying Jumbo are using motors, but why fight a man if you're innocent?)

I didn't hear the story that specifc yet. Surely if that's the case it should be worse than just the removal of a staff member?

The wording is really strange in the cycling news article. It's not clear if the UCI guy was in charge of dismantling the bike or if the Jumbo guy did it. Do UCI even dismantle bikes as part of the controls?

'Trying' requires a rider type that can attack from further out and survive...I dont think many classic GC riders in the current teams fit this definition. Its all about W/kg...and mountain stages for these guys is basically just a power test for the time of the climb. Like watching TTs.
You would need riders with fight / endurance...like Alaphillippe, to be the preferred GC men if you wanted a more attacking tour. That means less TTs and less 20+ km climbs... |

Of course he doesn't care, cause he uses the Tour as a prep race, unlike all other Top 10 riders. I think his performance is remarkable.

Caruso is just 19" behind him, he would be inside top10 probably without wasting him in few stages with no results by his leader (like stage 17).
race isn't over for Valverde to get top10.

Of course he doesn't care, cause he uses the Tour as a prep race, unlike all other Top 10 riders. I think his performance is remarkable.
Would be way more fun if he rode like Carapaz for stage wins and polka dot
